    Wow, I see a Christmas tree done this way :) with the flat weave around it. Not even weaving yet, but the ideas are coming.

      Absolutely, I've actually seen quite a few Christmas tree weavings done that way, and it's beautiful!

    Oh thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. I’m in love with tapestry weaving: I didn’t know about it at all; TH-cam rocks. I love the floral loop tapestry in this video that you share a picture of here. Would you be willing to show with us how you make this from start to finish. I’m learning from u as I go along and would love to begin shortly , that means ordering what I need from you. Thank u for being you❤️

    You said something about steaming your project, how would you about doing this? A lot of my yarn in my fringe curl would this help straighten them? Xxx

    • @spruceandlinen
      @spruceandlinen  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I always steam my fringe, it helps straighten everything out really nicely. Check out this video to show you how I do it: th-cam.com/video/KJwOeoDIp8s/w-d-xo.html the steaming starts at 21:40

  • @annbenoit6122
    @annbenoit6122 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video! How do you recommend to tie off the Rya loop tails so they don't fall when you're done completing the row (in addition to sandwiching them between 2 rows of tabby)? Thanks!

    • @spruceandlinen
      @spruceandlinen  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I usually just tuck it in the back like I would my other woven ends.

    You are so good at teaching techniques! My warp strings are like guitar strings compared to yours 😅 might explain my issue sometimes with tension.

    • @spruceandlinen
      @spruceandlinen  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks so much! I always try to take a "somewhere in the middle" approach to warping haha. Sometimes on my bigger loom I find a need it tighter because it's spanning such a large area. It's all just a practice :)

    How many warp threads have you used xxx

    • @spruceandlinen

      This little warp has 18, but you can do this with any amount you like :)

    Hi Janelle, The first time I tried rya loops I ended up tearing it out. These were going to be shorter than yours and random on a circle weave. Although I will try again I found that it easily unraveled and it seemed I couldn't get each rya loops tight enough. Any suggestions for my next weave? 😘

    • @spruceandlinen
      @spruceandlinen  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rya loops can definitely come apart if you start pulling on them, but if you pull each knot tight in shouldn't just fall apart. Putting a row of tabby (plain weave) after each row of rya loops should also help keep everything in place.

      If you click the little gear icon on the bottom left of the screen, and then click subtitles, you can then chose spanish for the closed captions. Thanks for watching.

    Can you cut the Rya loops?

    How does it not pull out?

    • @spruceandlinen
      @spruceandlinen  10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You just don’t pull on it, also adding plain weave between the rows helps too.

    These are not rye-ah loops, but roo-ah loops. There is a respectful difference. How often we work so hard to use Spanish pronunciation of Mexican traditions, but REFUSE to offer the same respect to non-Hispanic traditions. They are roo-ah loops! Please learn the proper pronunciation.
