You’re in the entertainment business, if your sport isn’t “entertaining” as it was with the 5 overtime races, no one watches and you don’t have the millions of dollars to spend on race cars. I agree it might not be the most fair but it’s the current rules and you have to plan for it. Everyone knew it was going more than one green white checker when you had the 5 lining up behind the 11 diving off into turn 1.
my take on this is the 5 restart attempts are directly the result of the current points system. drivers aren't rewarded for achiving a "ok" finish by racing smart and making sound decisions. instead we have this all or nothing system where a win puts a bad team into the "playoffs" and wrecking and coming up 35 has no consequence if you have already won , or have no chance of pointing into the "playoffs" . i understand rewarding winning but you can do that by awarding a considerable amount of points for wins , those points should not negate very poor results in 5 races.

When a college football game has 5 overtimes it’s an “instant classic” but when NASCAR has 5 overtimes there’s a problem? I don’t get it. It was a great race with an exciting finish and, most importantly, the fans got to see an actual finish and not have an anticlimactic non-finish 🤷♂️
the issue is in other sports mostly we see overtimes because two competitors are evenly matched , here we see overtimes because everyone is incentivized to Greed instead of race with logic for a mid pack finish , like winning is all that matters in the current system, your teams ability to be consistent and run top 10 is worth way less because of the extreme value of a single win. a 25-30th place team shouldn't be getting into the "playoffs" on a single win they are just noncompetitive.

If anything, those mid-pack teams were the only ones racing clean at the end. 3 OTs were directly/indirectly caused by the sports best driver. If we put a limit on OTs it only incentivizes wrecking someone else (Kevin Harvick) and if we throw it out alltogether we end up losing out on the excitement of a green white checkered. We can take this for what it was and move on, or we can change the sport for the worse.

From memory, I don't think so. I think he had already pretty much stopped, thus was probably 15th or so when the caution came out, then he got passed some more. NASCAR is the most inconsistent organization I've ever seen. And no matter what issue arises, they seem to always address it in the most idiotic way possible...or if they do come up with a good idea, it's 20 years too late.
No OT restarts: OR: only top 10 or 20 drivers participate in the restart, or bigger penalties for drivers who cause wrecks during these restarts, including any driver who runs out of gas or backs everyone up trying to run on used-up tires??
TJ Majors needs to retrain Freddie on Yellow Flags in NASCAR. The Yellow Flag is for the Show and any Safety incurred is just a wonderful byproduct. I would like to see the new overtime be you park everyone 7 place back then you green white checker the top 6 and they have one restart to see who wins it. Not sure if the logistics of putting cars on pit road and running a green white checker is safe or if they have time to run them behind the wall. Just throwing something out there because this ending wasnt great. Seeing people lose because of strategy is great, seeing them lose because you moved the goal post is not.
I don't want to hear from you guys about how great the NBC coverage is. Since they switched the race to another channel (For the Olympic trials, a bunch of malnourished guys running in circles), they didn't tell my DVR so I missed the end of the race which, apparently, was great. Screw those guys! It's like the "Heidi Game" all over again.
I get pissed off about that too, but I was able to find it on the USA channel. I know you were recording but in case it happens while you’re watching. Just try that.
Never watch nascar on NBC or fox.....u need to watch the race on an actual sports channel....in Canada all my races r recorded on tsn....they cover the race from start to finish even if there is a 5 hour delay....u will never get extended coverage from the crappy cable networks especially fox cause they suck
The race ran several hours past time on a rain delay. This is standard as can be and would be the same if not worse with another channel. It doesn't take away from NBC having a drastically better coverage of the race itself than Fox. I watch every single week on DVR with sling and can adjust it from my phone when this happens. Just like I did yesterday.

Freddy the only reason we had so many restarts was because cars were running out of fuel and wrecks are gonna happen in that situation. You shouldn’t be questioning the drivers talent in those situations. Also every point means something, every has to get all they can. Whocares about millions of dollars in damage to cars. Thats just part of it. Also you have to have a green white checkered, no one is paying money to see a race finish under caution.
I blame Kevin Harvick for all of this. Ever since he wrecked the field at Talladega while his car was blowing up so that the race would end at the last GWC so he would get a good finish to continue in the chase. After that incident, NASCAR went to unlimited GWCs.

I almost died at that track the weld holding the steering wheel lug broke and it came off in my hand going into turn 2 of the road course.😂

I would like to see the new overtime be you park everyone 7 place back then you green white checker the top 6 and they have one restart to see who wins it. Not sure if the logistics of putting cars on pit road and running a green white checker is safe or if they have time to run them behind the wall. Just throwing something out there because this ending wasnt great. Seeing people lose because of strategy is great, seeing them lose because you moved the goal post is not.

I don't want to hear from you guys about how great the NBC coverage is. Since they switched the race to another channel (For the Olympic trials, a bunch of malnourished guys running in circles), they didn't tell my DVR so I missed the end of the race which, apparently, was great. Screw those guys! It's like the "Heidi Game" all over again.
A popular sport like the nfl would never show Olympic qualifying instead of a game.
I get pissed off about that too, but I was able to find it on the USA channel. I know you were recording but in case it happens while you’re watching. Just try that.
Never watch nascar on NBC or fox.....u need to watch the race on an actual sports channel....in Canada all my races r recorded on tsn....they cover the race from start to finish even if there is a 5 hour delay....u will never get extended coverage from the crappy cable networks especially fox cause they suck
The race ran several hours past time on a rain delay. This is standard as can be and would be the same if not worse with another channel. It doesn't take away from NBC having a drastically better coverage of the race itself than Fox.
I watch every single week on DVR with sling and can adjust it from my phone when this happens. Just like I did yesterday.
SO they (media) pay umpteen million dollars for the broadcast rights, and then disrespect the series like that? Stupid.
can we STOP calling these the best drivers in the world. they most def are not. when you take a driver because of his sponsors, you completely nullify that claim. STOP LIEING TO THE PEOPLE, THEY ARNT THE BEST IN THE WORLD, sadly... some of them arnt even any good.....
If your going to do remote podcast. Take some damn proper recording equipment with you. Pisses me off. Dirty Mo is WAY too big of a company to be sending out podcast over a 150 dollar Walmart laptop. Get Dale Jrs cheap ass to open up his wallet and get you some portable microphones. Terrible terrible show.

Freddy the only reason we had so many restarts was because cars were running out of fuel and wrecks are gonna happen in that situation. You shouldn’t be questioning the drivers talent in those situations. Also every point means something, every has to get all they can. Whocares about millions of dollars in damage to cars. Thats just part of it.
Also you have to have a green white checkered, no one is paying money to see a race finish under caution.
I blame Kevin Harvick for all of this. Ever since he wrecked the field at Talladega while his car was blowing up so that the race would end at the last GWC so he would get a good finish to continue in the chase. After that incident, NASCAR went to unlimited GWCs.
