When I put my high flow air cleaner on, slip ons, and the tuner, there was a very noticeable improvement in throttle response. Played with the custom sport mode, yeah highly recommend.
You're right. Just watched a new Thrashin Supply video. They put an exhaust/air cleaner, no tuner on it and took it to a dyno. Guy said it was badly out of tune and needed it soon
Per Harley, a stage 1 is the following. Intake, Exhaust and tuner. When you select your exhaust, Haley Davidson list slip ons and one exhaust "System". It is not until you get to a stage IV do they list exhaust headers. Also when you order a stage IV it says purchase of slips-ons, intake and tuner required. So a stage 1 is intake, exhaust "slip ons", tuner.
I have been running a Thundermax on my bikes for years. I have it on my ‘17 RGSpl with a H-D 114 stage IV kit. (114 was the top of the line when I bought the bike. Missed 117 by few months) But anyway. You will be very happy. The Thundermax will learn and tune while you ride. It is an awesome piece of technology.
I never knew much about motorcycle mechanics except what I’ve learned from videos like yours, but like most teenagers back in the 70’s, I’ve spent more than a little time under the hood wrenching on a engine. I knew enough that I had a complete exhaust and Hi-flow air filter put on my bike before I ever took delivery of it. And it was tuned and Dyno’d as part of the process. Wasn’t looking for a big jump in power, just wanted the engine to run better, which it does!

I recently put my Screamin Eagle heavy breather back on my Twin Cam. I had an S&S Stealth on it for a while and had nothing but oil leaks from around the breather bolts especially the forward cylinder. I did everything I could to make it stop, but S&S expects you to use rubber coated metal washers as gaskets and they don't work as intended. So, from now on, I'll use Screamin Eagle intakes. The quality is much better.
The dealer boys call the slip on and air cleaner, a dirty stage one. Totally agree with you on the tune and I put the wedge on, and I could not get rid of that ugly air cleaner any faster. Some guys like it just not me. Looking good brother merry Christmas to you and your family.
I threw one of them on my 24 RG. Like you said… over the top. They are massive which is what I loved about it. Also as you said, it doesn’t actually get in your legs way

New air cleaner looks 100% better than the lunchbox that was on it to begin with it will be interesting to see what the old butt dyno has to say. Cheers from the Great White North.
I like this new setup. Way easier to vent the crank case into a catch can, now. That whole setup looks very well refined and high quality. The tuner ... Naja, better than nothing I guess.
The top tuner for that thunder Max has a shop in Menomonee, Wisconsin called Pistol Pete’s it also has another name it says racing name. I believe it’s his last name.
I have the heavy breather on my 2020 cvo. I like the look but for a guy that is 6’2” it is had to deal with. It’s very uncomfortable because my leg is all over it and when I use the rear break I have to move my leg around it
Does the need for a tuner go back to the early 2000’s? Probably should put a tuner on my ‘06 Deuce with full exhaust, high flow air intake and new cam. Wasn’t sure when they started coming out of the factory tuned super lean.
Mr Monkey, Sir when you do the cam upgrade if you change the the tappets to the SE tappets please change the cuffs also... This may save you some frustration a little bit later on... Wishing Your Family and You a Very Safe and Merry Christmas...
I think you and your wife should look into getting a couple of dirt bikes, one for either you or your wife to ride and the other for your daughter that you can take to, I think they call crome so she can learn how to ride before she gets to 15 years of age. Nothing like experience before she's of age.
Ok so I have to ask what’s up with the flashing strobe on the TV? If you’re jamming out in the garage playing guitar and not sharing content I will be upset!! 😬

The throttling body is different on the 24s and that is why the older intakes don't fit.
