I'm having some fun with the triad gear from my Spirograph and trying different colors. I chose a variety of purple and pink markers from my set of Stabilo 88 markers.

You’re 100th like!👍☺️ Thanks for putting this up because I didn’t know if I was on the right track with the long stencil and the odd shaped cog! But I wasn’t doing NEARLY enough rotations. I love how the outside line is so dark purple now, really brings something static to life. I’m just amazed at the ease of which you do it, when I do it I have to use 2 hands to go around the corners .. 😯 .. I guess practice practice? Do you use the putty that comes with the kit (assuming that stencil is from the ZAP kit?) or do you use something else? Because yours is very stable!! Anyway, thanks & know you’ve just helped someone on their Saturday craft session😬🙋🇦🇺
Thank you! It's a combination of practice and only the good takes end up on TH-cam. I use sticky tack that I have had for years. It's probably very similar to what comes with the set now. My Spirograph set is over thirty years old, so it came with a piece that pierced the paper to hold it in place. While very effective, it meant holes in the final design 😂.

Who to stick under this
What holes are you using & are you moving wheel 1 right after completing each pattern?
I'm using the first hole (the one in the point of the triad) and moving it one tooth with each color. In newer shorts (starting with one that is out today), I've added the disk, hole and color used and made sure movement it easier to see.

I use sticky tack/mounting putty to keep the middle from moving. I would just try a bunch a gears and see which one creates a similar look if I didn't have the triangle gear.

Three pieces of sticky tack used on both ends and the middle.

I have that but the puddy doesn't work
I use sticky tack instead of the putty that comes with it. It works a ton better.
