Nothing can compare to playing wow when you were a kid. Even though you suced, you enjoyed the f*** out of it.
it's because of things being mysterious, everything is as big as you can imagine.
like they say, ignorance is a bliss.
good MMO's should be able to make the world more immersive and more real than it actually is, I feel like MMO's could be way more immersive if they focused on immersion, but the developers only focus on making new content instead of trying to make the already existing world and evolving it to be content in itself.
Yeah now all these adults think they're going to get the same fulfillment they had by prepping a whole year before TBC comes out to burn through it in 24hours.
@@Ar1AnX1x People are just using Classic WoW as a gateway to reliving childhood fantasies. There's only so much we can admire in awe and mystery before the novelty fades. "Things being mysterious" and "make the already existing world and evolving it to be content" are inherently contradicting, since you won't be having any mystery if you don't want "developers only focus on making new content", which is made worse when all new info are always readily available on datamining websites. And every time Blizzard 'reused old content', see Uldum and Vale in BfA, people whine about Blizzard being lazy. When they updated old zones and added new ones too, see Cataclsym, people whined about how it took away their old favorite zones, and that took up a sheer amount of development time.

Esp. first phase, people finding friends while questing, creating guilds, first raids... That was the best time I had in gaming in a very long time.

Honestly I do really understand why people like classic it is a more rpg experience than current retail. Like for example rangers are forced to switch to melee when in melee range, while in classic physics don't apply as much anymore lol. However the low graphics all the outdated stuff I can't get into, like I heard many feel the same as me, we like the basic rpg mechanics of classics but for most other stuff we prefer retail
I'm not sure using the raid clear days/times of literally the most elite players/guilds that exist is a real measure of raid difficulty. Looking at the game now lots of the casual guilds are still struggling to progress in AQ40, and still don't have BWL on proper farm status.
Also, everyone has the benefit of knowing the fights, have approx 1 million guides on every encounter, etc.
Man. In vanilla STV we had a guilds v guilds battle that started with my level 40 amd another 40. Got on my 60 afternhis 40 rogue camped me. Then he got on his 60. Then we fought then more people came. Then more. Then more. And more. It was a bloodbath. One of my fav moments

It might be an old game, but it's not failed to give us new forms of content!
I kinda hope WoW classic follows Oldschool Runescape's example and carves its own path.
Maybe do TBC, maybe WotLK, but then make entirely new content we've never seen before that's more fitting with the Classic style, *including maintaining Classic's art style* . Similar to OSRS, i like the oldschool art style and wan it to be maintained. I love that Runescape 3 and WoW Modern have improved their art style, but i dont want to see OSRS or WoW Classic do that. That would kinda defeat the purpose.
I'd have also said no flying in Classic but TBC and WotLK without flying would be awful, so if they do continue and re-release old DLC they'll have to add flying.

The griefing meta in this game is hilarious and interesting to explore further. On our server (Firemaw) we have griefing guilds that put in secret service grade efforts to not letting people have their buffs. I'm talking spreadsheets, daily intel sharing, opposite faction accounts, espionage, using bitcoin to buy hack accounts to get into alliance MC spots in org. All day, all night, every week. It is a fascinating display of virginity and autism energy being misdirected in a late-stage capitalist world.

That's why I left Gehennas, the griefing was so severe, massive PVP servers are not enjoyable if you are not in a TOP guild anymore.
firemaw is easily the best server in eu i played there from start till now and it was awesome most of the times.
I was one of the ones who signed the petition for a return of Classic/Vanilla WoW. For me, it's Classic forever.
Back in the day, I played every WoW expansion but the last one. For me, nothing beats the original game. I won't be playing TBC Classic.
One can make the case that even with that first expansion, Blizzard began to go down the wrong path. It got worse with Wrath (although the lore was amazing), and then everything went to hell with Cata.
I love Classic, but for those of you going on to TBC and later WotLK, I wish you well.

I played classic and had a complete blast the whole way through (played a Ret pally with Hand of Rag, which I was insanely lucky to have gotten early on) and cleared all the raids, ranked to R13 and have all the non-meme Reps maxed out and I have had enough now. I quit just a few weeks ago and I’m waiting for TBC. Had a blast but I’ve seen the raids, dungeons and pvp enough that I won’t ever need to go back again until I die lol... or until they make a classic+ with a ton of changes and new content ;)

Great video WillE! I've been playing Classic since day 1 of the launch and it's been a wild ride, especially on a PvP megaserver (Whitemane). I came back for the nostalgia, but I'm glad I stayed for the phat loot and all the friends I've made along the way. Being able to work from home for almost a year due to the pandemic has definitely allowed me to progress both of my characters way beyond what I had expected. Hopefully TBC Classic will be as fun, or even better!

For some reason I thought he would be a lanky British type with plaid hunters jacket and a pipe and tea. Straight off the Ripper Street set haha I’m terrible with the cliche stereotype

When I was a teenager I had all the time in the world and I logged on every single day with my guildies and had the best time! I remember it fondly. Since Classic came out I've turned 30, bought a house, worked throughout lockdowns, generally just been busy. It's part of growing older but I feel totally left out this time around; I've got a priest at 42 and a druid at 32, managed to play a bit through launch but not the same! I've been really glad to have TH-cam and Twitch to feel like part of the community and enjoy the atmosphere of what has been an incredible 18 months. Thanks for everything you've done WillE!

Will ill be honest I think u hit the nail on the head with blizzard not doing a good enough job stopping botting and stopping people buying gold. However, I think a reason they didn't ban people for buying is because if they did I think a lot of players would of quit the game. I quit for that reason... I just could nto bring myself to want to play having to keep up wtih farming gold I was a warrior so I had less gold making methods than other classes. It wasn't fun for me to have to constantly be farming felt like a job I'd do after my real job. I hope they manage to fix it in TBC idk what can be done but I'd accept some changes to avoid boosting/excessive mage farming
I still don't have a 60. Highest I got was 42 on a pvp server before phase 2 hit
I want to give tbc a good shot so trying to give classic another shot actually feels like my experience back in the day. I first started right before tbc back in the day and it sure is a lot easier to get gold. A lot harder to find legit dungeons though
I'm enjoying classic now more than I did at release. I think restarting on a horde pve server was what I needed.
Lol funnily enough I just did the same thing, it seems much more chilled out now than when it came out and I'm having a great chilled time ^^

I like your content and all, but you are a HUGE TBC shill, and I really don't get why. The Horde turns into elves, all dungeons are uninspired loot corridors, flying is overrated garbage, resilience gear really polarises the game, the start of serious welfare epics, Shattarath which ruins the excitement of seeing the other faction, Outlands feels so different to the old content/Azeroth it makes the world feel like a cluttered mess, a HUGE amount of seriously boring uninspired rep grinds (and people say classic is grindy lmfao), no world buffs but leatherworking for drums, etc. I could go on.
I leveld up a paladin and wanted to play a retribution in end game content, fully aware that it wasn't optimal. But when NO guild what so ever would have me I ended up quiting vanilla renewal, and glad I did.. the midmaxing and world buff obsession would have driven me away sooner or later any way.
And I've been playing WoW since day 1 EU back in 2004. Damn I feel old, sigh.

2: Gold Squish (bring people down to 1k) at least i wont lose any sleep losing my 7k. Would be good if they also banned bots for once...
3: Faction queue/Faction balance
4: Dual Talent. This might seem controversial, but it is very popular on Pservers. you can ofc only change specs in a major city. Usually they make you pay like 1k gold to unlock the option. instead of paying 50g everytime you want to tank/heal/dps a dungeon respeccing
^ These are the changes i would want for TBC.
Honestly, some changes would be required. But also, I think a lot of people would take it in a more “chill” tone and not speed run the whole thing tbc is out as well.

TBC sounds great if you remove Outlands. Yeah yeah, I liked Nagrand too, but making the old world irrelevant and introducing flying mounts is just too much of a dealbreaker.

thanks man i honestly started in november and knew nothing about the game picked mage soloing the game best i could with help from many people like yourself, thank you greatly increased my satisfaction from classic probz wont play tbc half as hard as i went for classic - with arenas seems the skill gap will jus get worse from here out. Ended up getting rank 14 in phase 3 or 4 roundabouts, still massive noob in terms of parsing lol don't run hit cap or anything xd (didnt get nef tear :P) so gave up bwl near enough and even quit my guild over it lol last week we killed KT in naxx with my new guild, thanks so much for your dedication to your viewerbase

With Naxx released & many guilds conquering the game, it's fun to reflect back. I didn't quite make it to Phase 6 but had an absolute blast the whole way.

I’m sad I didn’t experience as much as I wanted. Friend/guild kind of fell apart and I quit before AQ launched
I haven't played since phase 3 but I still enjoy using your videos to catch up on everything...you have a great take on pros and cons
Man i couldn't agree with you more about the point you made at around 13min in. People drive me nuts with that shit, i was leveling a fury war alt, and when i started asking questions about different weapons like Mass of McGowan and people acted like i was suggesting that i hit the mobs with a dildo made of feathers. Then, i go look at the spreadsheet weapon charts and such, and find out the difference between something like it, and Krol's blade, is like 2%....
People take this shit WAAYYYYYYYYYYY too seriously, the minmaxing attitude has gotten completely out of control.
The nice thing at least is that all the "crap" equipment ends up being cheap or easy to get because people are too stupid to see the value in it.

no one ruins a game, you are just being whiney, people on classic right now will still take any class or spec to a raid. There are super try hard sweaty guilds but you arent forced to join any of those, I'm a ret pally on classic probably the worst spec in the game and my guild and my previous guilds brought me and didnt care, I think if you are gonna whine about a meta go play a different game, even on retail there are Tier lists and metas in the game

Classic had far more mistakes and screw ups than successes. Hopefully Blizzard learned and BC will do it right up front. Only time will tell. I done unsubbed this a while ago and don't plan to resub until BC. When BC does get here, you can bet classic will empty out overnight. It simply has no longevity or future in a post BC world, especially with how Blizzard decided to run it. BC/LK were truly the best versions of the game, and that's where we want to go. I don't know why anyone would want to stay on classic once those become an option.

WillE awesome video as always, but actually I'm struggling with decision to start once again in WoW Classic. Thinking just to have fun, play casually as fresh starter and I cant decide which server to pick up. I like pvp and pve so will play both. I realize that there is no cleas answear but can you give me a hint what EU server should I pick up?

We dont agree on many things, WillE. 40 man raiding is a blast. Classic was never going to simulate Vanilla's "unknown qualities" factor. Challenging is subjective too, btw. Love your vids though! Looking forward to TBC as Shadowlands is a complete bust.
You're by far the best warcraft youtuber, retail or otherwise. Also one of the few who does not have an annoying voice. Your voice is like calming coconut butter in my ear-canal.

I stopped playing phase 5 after AQ launched. I still watch videos about WoW and have very fond memories of both vanilla/TBC and now classic but I got bored of raiding. Was a nostalgia trip to replay the game again and relearn it. Thanks for the vids WillE here this is the community I missed

Hello WiIIE, a gentleman here, what are your thoughts on Bloodlust/ Heroism, but mostly Drums of Battle, in TBC and wether or not implementing Sated should be considered? The Idea being that without the sated debuff stacking Drums of Battle would simply be a "World Buff 2.0"-meta, with all PvE content being dictated by it (plus loosing 1 proffesion slot on every raiding character, since pretty everyone will be expected to have LW).

Still bummed out i missed this... again. I began with TBC way back, coming from EQOA. But with the launch of Classic i meant to get in, then a lot of things happened in my life so i just put it on hold. Hopefully they do this again or start a TLP server.

What about a seasonal Reset System like in diablo 3 ? I Think what made classic so popular was the Feeling of the First months/weeks ... Everyone startet from the bottom . Now imagine Once a Month or once a Year the Server hets a Reset so everyone starts again from Level 1 ?
once a month would be crazy... it takes most people longer than that to reach 60 :o (of real-life time, ofcourse)
thing is while it is tbc. i think for alot of people they remember classic as tbc. i kno i played at the tail end while it transitioned so for me seeing all this wb bs and ranking is just like weird. sure i heard the stories of classic as it played but it def would be nice to try the experience again without the bad stuff. the idealized version where u can play generally any class and not fuck ur health over for rank 14

If everyone in the raid is putting full effort to get world buffs and all consumes then I agree Naxx is much easier than it was in Vanilla. If your fellow raiders are not then it can be equally difficult to how it was in Vanilla. Why? Because those same people failing to get world buffs and bring most consumes probably aren't looking up the boss strategies, are AFKing during trash to slow you down, etc. Yeah, for the well-oiled raiding guilds Naxx wasn't that hard. For a lot of the "dad" and more casual guilds its certainly more difficult due to the fact it takes 39 other people competent, knowledgeable, and raid ready every night you go in there.
The multibox ban attempt was laughable and solved nothing tbh. Blizzard has failed miserably with botting.
My guild stopped running MC and BWL with the release of Naxx. That also means AQ40 was left off. You don't need Thunderfury to kill KT. That's a silly notion. It's nice to have and can help boost threat, but it's not going to make a bad tank a good one. There are GDKPs for BWL and AQ40 that make up for the lack of it. If your guild is still running these and you're tired then remind them of the GDKPs. I'd love to get back into AQ40 and win some gear without needing gold to buy it.
