One day the bubble for all this stuff is going to pop like "beenie babies" and the tulips. The last sold price isnt what something is worth. Its what its worth to the person who bought it at that time. Any asset that doesnt sell frequently doesnt really qualify as a "price discovery" If every one tried to sell the same set at the same time the prices would crash I expect. I look at all those boxes in the background and think if you tried to liquidate that , you would likely be very unhappy. Ill add I had a few "investments sets". But too often lego reissue , issue something better , or just never retire for ages. At least if you collected something like Single Malt whiskies you have a reasonable guarantee of a liquid market , every increasing demand (people drink it) and a very broad base appeal. dont say you werent all warned :-)

@@mikaelwithers7079 thanks for commenting. Possibly you are right who knows but that's a risk we all take. Like I say on my videos if you buy cheap enough then you will still make a profit. Yes if people sell the whole collection of theirs they will only get maybe 50% of the retail value but I would never do that. I sit in front of my LEGO just to prove I own what I'm talking about I've seen channels that have high subscribers yet never even show one set they could be giving advice but have no skin in the game. Lots of people advise to invest in other things gold/wine/art/stocks but everything has up and down sides. Everyone thinks they know better including me. For me ATM this is a good fit I can buy at a discount and sell at a good profit after 18-24 months I'm sure whisky is going to be a hell of a lot longer than that. I did have a bottle that was 30+ years old but when I was out someone opened it to smell it. Imagine if that happened to you. Your collection would be worthless in seconds. Even if Lego is opened there's some value there. So you do you and for now Lego investors will do just fine. Thanks again for commenting.

@@InvestInBricks Great reply. I will add I used to have some skin in the game hence I get recommended these type of videos. I still have a lego tumbler stashed away (built now ). I do like a bit of a gamble and have a little bit of everything. I did come out of lego though other than the childhood sets I own. I remember buying 5x 21008 Burj Khalias in Dubai as I saw it was discontinued , but then they released an improved follow up killing it off. I still have one tho and a 40144 Toys R Us. And I do think you are are right that lego still has more utility than other collectables due to the fact the bricks could even be sold individually if needs be.

@mikaelwithers7079 thanks again. You are right to worry about sets being brought out again. I have a different strategy than most I don't buy sets over £100 and other than battle packs I don't buy huge amounts of any one set so if they bring out another I've diversified with other themes and sets. The BD-1 is the exception I've already sold one with a big profit and I'm keeping the rest for a while. My videos are for information purposes for the community to help them see what things are selling for or what people are trying to get on Amazon so I'm ahead of the game on others because I can see trends before others because I'm always comparing and checking prices. If it all went tits up I'd still be able to sell my sets at a reasonable profit or MSRP but I only buy sets that are 30% off or higher. If it's not I don't buy them. Like you said you could split and open a BL store and make more the part outs for some sets are ridiculous. Sets like tumblers will always be remade but some sets will never be remade it's all part of the game using your knowledge and the information out there to figure out which one is which then invest in those. Lots of investors have come out of LEGO and lots of new people have started dabbling to fund their hobby or to make a few quid that's the same with all investments. I've had comments I should invest in Gold but when you look into it I can make so much more with Lego. I took watch videos of other investments but for ME LEGO is the best. I also have some Pii network but have no idea if that will ever make anything but that's just a little side thing that could make nothing or could be amazing time will tell. Hope you do well with your investments be it LEGO or whisky I don't drink anymore so that would only be an investment for me also as I don't build Lego either. Take care.
