June 2012 Texas 200 sailing event on Hapscut. This is the first Hapscut built and the Texas 200 was it's first long trip. My wife and I had a great time meeting new people and some great sailing too.
My port holes are arranged so they can easily unscrew from the inside of the boat. That puts the backing plate on the outside of the boat. In my case I have 1/4" hulls sides and cut a ring of 1/4" plywood for the backing plate. From outside the boat it assembled: wooden ring, fiberglass bug netting, hull side, sealant on inside and them the plastic inspection port. View my video called "Jim Michalak's Hap's Cut - Update" you can see the outside ring and then the inspection port on the inside.
What an inspiration. I bet a lot of Hap's Cuts are going to be built. It seems like such a big boat for it's leangth. It makes KaaNoo seem like a...well...KaaNoo!
