The italians are pretty much the only ones who focused in on it due to sabaku's CNT footage where he tested it a lot, showcasing how easy it was to stagger trolls and dragons with the right weapons, i remember seeing lobos a few months after release fighting dragons on torrent, with me thinking "why doesn't he just bait the melee attacks so he can stagger the dragon in 4 attacks?"(you need only 4 JR2 headshots with a 2-handed greatsword, which can be made to be less by attacking with R1s or others after the first JR2)
My friend comes from DS3 and he ALWAYS uses the biggest weapon, 2 hands it, and fully charged heavy attacks. Staggering bosses has been a thing for a long time before ER.
@@blad... that’s true, the poise break mechanic was in DS3, but it was very strange and inconsistent. Some bosses, like Nameless King, seem to have the same type of Poise break animation as in Elden ring, where they take a Knee and can be reposted. Then some like Pontiff or Gael just get pushed back and staggered for a short time. And then some like Gundyr who takes a knee, but can’t be reposted and just takes more damage. Many bosses just can’t be poise broken, and most enemy’s can’t either. As for charged heavys, I’m not really sure if they do more poise damage or not. I tested the difference from Light attacks and heavy’s on the Demon Princes using the Fume Ultra Greatsword, and it always took five attacks to poise break. Regardless of whether they were heavy or light. Heavy attacks definitely do more poise damage against Pontiff and Gael, though. Yes! When I first began playing Elden Ring, I was a huge fan of colossal weapons.. because I had learned what a benefit stance breaks were quickly. What I have since learned is that colossal are actually some of the worst for stancebreaking enemies quickly. The lighter quicker weapons which also have good poise damage values can do it quicker in many situations while also not tying down your character movement with long attack animations. I was kinda shocked how well even greatswords can stancebreak with jump attacks. These days my fab stance breaking weapons aren't colossal weapons at all but things like brick hammer, great stars, or even a good ole greatsword. My fav build however must be the dual straight sword due to its fast attack combos pairing well with status ailments, tho the stance damage is not great. Btw, when you go for Radagon Scarseal next time take the beast repellent torch with you and the rats will leave you alone. Pro tip 😊
Dual straight swords or a single greatsword are my go-to builds as well! Extremely fun an versatile. Great Stars also has a special place in my heart, it doesn't look as fancy as most other weapons but it's reliable, and making it cold for frost/bleed at once feels almost mean... for the enemies :)
For the soarseal, that's a long way just to get an easier talisman, much easier to bait the rats to attack you from the other platform so they fall down in the main hallway, that way they will not attack you while you pick the talisman.
Wait, colossal swords suck for stance breaks? Whats the point of using them now? They don't out DPS other weapons, they don't knock down enemies like previous games, they aren't the best at stance breaking, they can't instantly poise break some harder enemies for a riposte like in ds2 sotfs, etc. Why does fromsoft keep downgrading ultra weapons? They lost so many abilities from ds2 sotfs its not even funny. And AoW's don't even make up for that. I mean they even lack the attack cancel, faster attacks after rolling/running and guard breaks that all weapons from ds2 sotfs had, very useful for UGS. Great hammers were even able to pancake those frigid outskirt horses, making them extremely useful.
@@siyzerix They don't suck for stance breaks, they just do it differently. There's a reason dual colossal jump heavy is a meme. I always felt that the simple club wasn't talked about enough. Honestly, it's my favorite weapon in the game. It's so satisfying to fight morgott hitless with a +0 club, chaining crits back to back.
Stance Breaking is so fun! The big baseball bat carried me through my low level/low weapon upgrades run and it’s probably worse than the small one for being slower and taking more Stamina. Right after I played Twinblades and before I got used to spamming the Poledance in the right moment it felt like hell.
Stance break is so strong, it really makes some Ashes of war and weapons shine (Square off R1 is such a good chunk of poise damage for such a safe move). And it feels great being able to use the longer ones to land some long moves or a bunch of heavy hits then riposte.

Yeah, basically... My first playthrough was wretch and I carrier that club to the end game as much as it carried me, the standard club is a historically underrated weapon making the wretch arguably the strongest starting class (it's me, I'm arguing it)
I ran a duel dagger build my first time through, stacking status effects on top of one another to do tons of chip damage while I was dodging. Second time through I did a strength and colossal weapon play through and just trashed bosses using this. I had such a hard time making it through the game the first time! Turns out I was just missing an extremely important mechanic
People def underestimate the club or hammer type weapons to be exact. It’s much faster than giant weapons and it’s stagger output is prob higher if you factor how fast it can land those charge attacks vs huge ones. Just 2 charge heavies, which fits easily in a medium opening of margit, then a trade ish jump r1 immediately after, you can immediately poise break him after his first swing and miss. Same for Radagon, guard counter him maybe twice, charge heavy when the opening comes… it’s so fast to poise break. Your first exchange, it can already happen.
Some things I should add: Heavy infusion > poison infusion since poison mist is a guaranteed poison. I pair this with great turtle shield with barricade ash of war since after poison mist I have a poison brush to paint other enemies with while the poison preps foes for death. Use poison mist after a combo allows you to bypass the recovery and start a new combo if you have stamina. I prefer the great club over great star because its lighter weight, longer reach, and has better heavy scaling.
The stagger mechanic alone is what makes Elden Ring the best Fromsoft title, aside from Sekiro. Anyone who doesn't effectively engage with it is missing a core mechanic of the combat system.
I’m not saying we need a stance meter visible I think we need an indication of some sort when the target is close to breaking stance. Like idk subtle particles maybe or like lies of p where health bar lights up when target could be stunned I mean sekiro had a stance meter so there is no shame in adding that
Good video man, just finished an int build and after seeing this im starting a whole ass new character, going to practically copy what you did befor margit then do my own thing after. Thinking of doing a primary strength build with a bit of arcane.
I ran int for my first playthrough. My 2nd one was strength/ faith. There's sooo many good weapons(blasphemous blade, the boss killer Envoys Longhorn, and a few others.) Plus you can get the buffs from Golden Vow and flame grant me strength. While taking advantage of strength weapons. You can make most weapons scale with faith by using the flame art affinity on your ash as well
When the video opens with Valstrax theme you know it’s on I’m surprised you didn’t use the dumbbells weapon (idk the name the one you get off the boiled crab merchant NPC); always thought that was the best weapon for this. I hope in the DLC bosses have higher poise like Mogh. Easily my favourite fight.
I literally just had a build exactly like this but it was with the greatmace instead of club. Used the spell version of golden voe and got flame grant me strength for more damage. Tailsmans were different from mine however. Still used axe tailsman apart from that i used claw, dagger and old lords for longer buffs. Stance break is honestly my favorite way to play the game and is the reason strength is my favorite build.
I beat more than half the bosses in the game first try, and I have to say that stance breaking carried me a lot. Using a heavy large mace that specifically describes its stance breaking power has made a lot of encounters trivial, knowing that most enemy I will face will have their stance broken within 2 to 4 hits. Coupled with the beast seal, I'm very happy with the build I made.
stance build: hey look everyone i can stun bosses!!!! pre-nerf blood build: that's a cute gimmick, I can kill Malenia in 5 secs Melina, Blade of Miquella: am I a joke to you? pre-nerf blood build: yes.
I tried this build and while the stance brakeing is great, I still think the only thing unbalanced is your skills. I struggled with every single boss. Fire giant almost mayde me give up, but eventually I won that battle. It was the Beast Clergyman that made me really give up, I got one or two hits through and then I was dead. I've won him three times in the past but always with the help of mimic tear. Now I'm just screwed without it.
When I first played elden ring, I had no idea that there even is such thing as stance breaks, because I played with katanas (no poise damage) and didn't use ashes of war, since the game didn't tell me that unsheathe requires a follow up input, so I never figured that mechanic out. I don't remember if the game teaches you about stance breaks in the Cave of Knowledge, but even if it did, I would have forgotten about it after hours of playing without seeing it in action.
As a funny AyyyEfff video: 12/8 As a clearly scientific educational strat video for Elden Ring: 1/10 -Reason for abysmal education score? Second time through I did a strength and colossal weapon play through and just trashed bosses using this. I had such a hard time making it through the game the first time! Turns out I was just missing an extremely important mechanic
This editing is really funny for the quality, you get a lot of humor out of relatively little flashiness
as i played I wondered "is anything better than this club?" and the answer is "No, not really brah"
This weapon class is a monster for pve yep! Always been pretty good but in Elden Ring it's even next level
Poison mist + great club.
The mist swipe doesn't break foes out of broken poise so now they take poison tick damage while you crit hit them.
That's a cool idea
Some things I should add:
Heavy infusion > poison infusion since poison mist is a guaranteed poison.
Valfalk theme used at the beginning is too good.
The stagger mechanic alone is what makes Elden Ring the best Fromsoft title, aside from Sekiro. Anyone who doesn't effectively engage with it is missing a core mechanic of the combat system.
Soul Caliber esque outro. Brings back memories. Savage play.
The pan noise cutting off the bear witness lmao
Also the joy I felt watching draconic spam sentinel get bullied so hard
I’m not saying we need a stance meter visible I think we need an indication of some sort when the target is close to breaking stance. Like idk subtle particles maybe or like lies of p where health bar lights up when target could be stunned
I mean sekiro had a stance meter so there is no shame in adding that
Good video man, just finished an int build and after seeing this im starting a whole ass new character, going to practically copy what you did befor margit then do my own thing after.
You can make most weapons scale with faith by using the flame art affinity on your ash as well
When the video opens with Valstrax theme you know it’s on
I’m surprised you didn’t use the dumbbells weapon (idk the name the one you get off the boiled crab merchant NPC); always thought that was the best weapon for this.
I hope in the DLC bosses have higher poise like Mogh. Easily my favourite fight.
First video I’ve seen of yours and I’m only 6 mins in and I’m absolutely loving it, funny ass edits 😂 keep it up man
Thanks a lot!
😮The Monster Hunter music is very fitting. An epic journey, for certain. Super build! Stagger city, baby!
Let's all love Lain. ❤️✨
Bonk Stick, Impaling Thrust, or Square Off is the real question.
What's the weapon you speaking of?
stance build: hey look everyone i can stun bosses!!!!
pre-nerf blood build: that's a cute gimmick, I can kill Malenia in 5 secs
Melina, Blade of Miquella: am I a joke to you?
pre-nerf blood build: yes.
@@melted_maniac297 oh I'm sorry. I'm just using the great mace.
1. Get a bonky
That's it. You fine now.
Bonky never disappoints
This is my exact speedrun setup but with greataxe. Great video and editing is fantastic! 😘👌
Thank you very much!
Nice and girthy club! Great editing too :)
The audio editing is S tier, but all around a great watch!
Remember when flames of the redmain or moonveil could brake stance in just two hits always, good times
Probably why they don't make baseball bats out of cinder blocks.
Jordien holy shit brother, your video editing is great, dude keep it up, you are getting better and better. sky’s the limit!!
Thanks dude, working my way and learning things with each video haha!
As a funny AyyyEfff video: 12/8
As a clearly scientific educational strat video for Elden Ring: 1/10
-Reason for abysmal education score? Viewer cannot read and follow along with the tips and strats when the viewer is overwhelmed with laughter and tearing of the eyes.
-Conclusion?
LIKED, COMMENTED AND SUBSKRRRIB’d! 11/10 Would watch Elden’s Ring get Railed again.
Currently doing "monke(demi-human run" if not for Stance breaks I dont think I would've been able to get this far.
Sounds like a fun run!
@@Jordien Malenia heals too much off of them. Back to the drawing board!
i heard the bagel theme and shat myself for a second before realizing its just this video
Bagel goose wants to know your location
Square-off against the tree sentinels. That's the only time I ever used the stance break mechanic to it's full extent and I honestly don't know why I stopped. Prolly cause I was distracted by flashy magics and bleed builds.
We must remember our forebears and return to bonk.
As a hammer person myself, the club is a fine, wonderful weapon I'd happily use from start to finish of the game... However...
I love your editing in this video, its pretty hilarious and tight.
Thanks!
I love the mordhau no voice lines at the Gideon fight and good video
Very nice! Great skill and great editing!
Thank you very much!
You’re like an underrated ymfah tbh, hope your channel gets popular soon :3
Staggering bosses IS easy mode. This was me and guts sword with either lion’s claw or giant hunt, and also me with Craig blade heavy star fist. It was beautiful 😂
And soon we'll put DLC bosses through this too!
@@Jordien Definitely
"child protection service" hits different after the dlc came out xD
More like protection from child services ammirite heheehhehh.... *cough**cough*
You immediately hooked me with the music choice.
Liked, subbed, bla bla you get it LMAO
It's the Bazelgeuse music that makes you stronger tbh
That switch to monster hunter was actually so clean wtf 😭
Thanks!
Seeing the damage folks deal in pre NG+ runs... I can't help but chuckle.
That build will still destroy bosses in NG+7!
Malenia: Why do I hear boss music?
fun fact, the charged heavies and jump attacks of Hammers does the same Stance damage as a the heavies of a Colossal Sword.
amazing audio work.
Toujours super intéressant et agréable à regarder. C'est beau bordel 💪
Merci hidden, c'est toi qui est beau d'abord
I love the MH music, awesome vid man
Officially dubbing this the rock candy build 😂
Hahaha honestly that's a pretty good name!
You made that goldfrey fight look extremely easy. I was stuck for so long even when I could dodge his attacks 😂 then I realised I needed to upgrade 😂😂😂
"many don't know about it"
My brother in christ is the only thing keeping STR builds alive
"The Elden Ring Stance Breaks Experience is Perfectly Balanced or How To Oonga Boonga Your Way Through The Game"
Unga bunga will guide us
You forgot getting the great rune after godrick extra 5 everything
Good point, I just didn't want to bother walking there on foot. I had bosses that needed killing!
I think there is the most funny way to play
Lmao the monster hunter during the radahn fight 😂 I completely forgot about that dragon's phase change in monster Hunter lmao
This is why I'm yet to make a dex build after 10+ playthroughs. Big stick is just too good.
*cough* twinblades *cough*
Don't even need bleed for it to be good.
Doing my first playthrough on pc and the morningstar carried me all the way to the end lol. Staggering is so fun
Geez, that takes "pounding Malenia" to a whole different level...
This video is amazing. I'm subbing man
These kind of videos are so entertaining. Next ymfah confirmed.
The eagle spirit grants you bonus stance dmg as well as attack power and would be a good one for a build like this.
lol club is my favorite weapon in the game as usual. It’s lowkey op as hell for the dlc it staggered enemies and bosses like crazy
“You dare oppose the might of … UURGH!” 🤣🤣🤣
The Bonk sound at the Boring Duo caught me off guard so bad, I really laughed so hard at that moment JAJAJAJA XD
"the bear tarnished"
this single video could have saved this game for so many players who just gave up because they couldn’t play ER like they did ds3
amazing music picks
The fact that you didn't say a word makes this so awesome. I love this. laughed and all
I love that in the Club description it reads: Wielding this striking weapon requires no skill.
Indeed.
Cuando vienes de Sekiro: "le rompi la postura"
Bro discovered every RL1 Run strat 😂
Str builds be like:
"It's not about the damage, it's about how much you can slap bosses like two finger and three fingers came together for a full god hand slap and make them SIT DOWN!"
Sounds like a God-Level Knuckle Sandwich to me! 😂
