    Eddie use to hang out at my friends house.i met him a few times he was such a cool down to earth person. He was dating my friends sister and was over at his house often. We were 13 at the time and even being young he treated everyone like you see in this video. No ego.

      @@gabyr.883 then I guess it didnt happen. It was the early 1990s, Nobody had cameras with exception to the occasuonal Disposable film camera for special events. I didnt have one, my friends got a few pics of him from other times he was over but not when i was lrestn that in aware of. We have our memories and those were all the pictures i needed. Your not the first to doubt me its ok. But when your hanging out with celebs most dont like being treated special, the starstruck mentality is typically a turn off.
      Perfect example, i had a 90 minute talk with metalica lead singer James, I was working the seattle emp grand opening concert for mtv. It was before the show backstage at soundcheck for eminem. I made small talk with james who i assumed was just some roady, i treated him like nobody special and just talked about all skrts of things. I was young and excited so i professed my love for the lifestyle of touring performing and all. He loved every minute of our convo as it went on for 90 minutesat least. Through all of it i didnt realose who he was and in reflection he really loved to have a normal conversation not about him.
      90 minutes later my friend walked up? all starstruck and hes like "omg dude your talking to James Hetfield, you know who this is?".
      James says hello to my friend and leans in with a big smile and gives me a hug and said goodbye and we parted ways.
      They are just people at the end of the day and when your amongst friends just hanging out its not like omg hes a famous lead singer let me get a picture with this 20lbs camera i so happen to jave with me.
      But i got no loctures to share so I gueds it didnt happen. And i dont blame you for not buying it? Its the internet and i see tons of what i assume are madeup bs storys online, and im quick to doubt myself.

    I shot this video with my clunky camcorder, the same one I used to film the excellent concert at the mural amphitheater (Seattle center) on 8-23-91. Too bad the wind fudged the audio, but still a cool flashback to a young Eddie. Drummer Dave A was there too. There is also footage I shot at the Renton party later that same night (Ed is writing down directions to the party toward the end of this vid)- Eddie did some great improv punkrock style vocals, and his future wife Beth sang also, with Seaweed and some other local musicians. I remember bullshitting with Ed by the campfire that night. He was always a great guy to talk with. Such a cool thing to find this here, as I seem to have lost my master VHS of it somehow~~ I Love PJ!

    Awww Eddie is so sweet! I wonder where that famous brown jacket is now.

    • @JasonKavetis
      @JasonKavetis 7 ปีที่แล้ว +62

      My guess is it was destroyed by EV by the end of 1992. I think the song Corduroy is about this jacket and how the corporate fashion world was trying to capitalize on his look and clothing-as oppose to focusing on purely the music. From what I heard stores like The Gap offered Eddie a lot of money if he would appear in their ads. I also heard The Gap (with or without EV's endorsement ) wanted to reproduce the look of that jacket and sell it for lots of $. Naturally, this prolly made Eddie start to hate that jacket-as it was becoming a symbol of the corporate world. By 1993, I don't recall that jacket ever appearing anywhere. The blue 'Members Only'-style jacket was worn by Eddie from 1992 to well into 1995. But this corduroy jacket prolly met its fate by October 1992. But, hey by summer 1993 it was replaced by the even cooler German army jacket.

      I was 29 in 1992. I bought Ten and Nevermind on the same day and listened to it for a while, then kind of forgot about PJ until a few months ago. Now I'm kicking myself for missing their prime years. I had pretty much stopped watching MTV by then, and there was no internet to keep up with them, so I basically heard the songs the radio stations played and that was it. I'm sad that I missed it all. Nostalgia will be the death of me someday.

      I was a teen then too. I enjoyed all of PJ’s albums in the 90’s but there were so many great bands/music at that time I didn’t follow them as closely as others. Cool to see all this stuff on the internet that I had no idea about like his love for surfing. Before that I got my info from my SPIN subscription MTV or just word of mouth.

      @@joandrumz3176 I feel that same way, man. I'm 17 at the moment. It just feels like everything that makes life entertaining, captivating and fun has just become so compressed into one area (the internet) that everything just feels so lifeless. It makes me really fucking sad, especially as somebody who really appreciates pop culture's offerings to younger people and loves both listening to and playing music. And don't even get me started on misinformation, mental health crises, and constant paranoia. I don't want the world holding its breath anymore for something to just kill it off already. I don't want to be feeling this way at this age, especially with what I've been hearing about the next decade. Hell, even the next few years. I want to have fun being young and look forward to the rest of my life. I don't wanna be fucking waiting and wondering when I'm going to end up living in a bomb shelter or something

      And I look to young people these days... OMG!

    I love how when someone's famous or in a band everyone just adores their personality. Like in these comments lol. Like awww he's so pure so awkward and sweet so sincere No ego.. as if there aren't TONS of other people like that. He's not that wildly special he just seems like a chill humble guy. I doubt he fancied himself as wildly special either
    People are Especially like that with Kurt. Like he had some deep mystical hidden shit about him or something.. or like he was a literal genius with an IQ of 200 and every single thing he said in interviews was calculated and genius humor.. like nah I'm sure he was a pretty normal guy, probably shy, had a very mixed emotional reaction to all the fame, and struggled with depression & addiction like myself. It doesnt take a genius to see that. People just like to put their idols way up on a pedestal like they're more than human or something

    • @rachaeldacek9409
      @rachaeldacek9409 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      EXACTLY! Sure eddies a good guy we can tell but there’s nothing special about him except the fact that he’s in a band. That might seem rude, but I just mean that he’s human too. Kurt Cobain as well. People will idolize him and infantacize him at the same time, it’s crazy. He’s not a “smol baby boi” he’s fucking dead Emily.

    • @Shalanaya

      That is not it, they actually ARE special, in fact every human is special once you get to know them more, expressing our emotional core through music can expose us to the world, and people can see that person better than if they were just strangers at a gas station, they'd be just good looking. Plus it is the confidence to be exposed to millions of people so vulnerably, that's sexy, especially to ladies. It's obvious you're a guy, so you don't get it, lol. I'm sure Eddie did not get it back then either.

      Yeah it’s not as uncommon as people think. We hung out with the lead singer of Circa Survive/Saosin after chain fest 2015. Dont really like their music but he was just riding on a bike after the show talking to us. Really just depends on the type of artist. Obviously today’s mainstream artist would never do that but if you’re into band or artist that don’t cater to that type of celebrity it’s pretty easy. Happens all the time in the punk, Emo, and metal environment I feel.

And there are so many great bands/artists NOW - since the 90s, who aren't as popular, AND they're the same way too!
