Yes Shatter is confirmed to be about Medusa by Siyeon when she told us to notice how the ending of the song it ends abruptly with Siyeon saying “I think I turn into the st-“ 8:07. Which made somnies brains click, oh so they turned into stone so it’s related to Medusa. Also other somnies noticed throughout the choreo in the beginning 1:05 how the members hands behind JiU look like snakes (resembling Medusas snake hair). Also if you listen closely you can hear snake rattling in the track 1:11, another thing is how they are looking away from JiU trying to hear for something, maybe for sounds of snakes. Another interesting detail in the choreo is when they start banging into themselves 3:22. There is more cool references so look closely you’ll catch more things. So as you listen to the song, the lyrics and choreo. Shatter is about the story of Medusa, but probably also has a double real life meaning to a toxic relationship. Some somnies have even thought that this could correlate to Poseidon abusive relationship with Medusa. I don’t know much about the story of Medusa but I recommend searching it up, definitely would clear up and connect to Dreamcatchers interpretation of Medusas story. I think you are on to something with maybe revenge or breaking free from a unhealthy toxic relationship. There’s lot of ways to take this and theorize, which is so cool. But I love hearing other’s thoughts and connections I’m looking forward to others opinions in the comments as well. I love everything about Shatter it feels very theatrical and makes me love Dreamcatcher even more, concepts Queens with heavy stories that make you think so awesome!

Yeah, these lyrics were good. They have said that it is about Medusa. To me, the lyrics read as someone who has fallen in love with Medusa, but they know if they give in to their feelings she will eventually turn them into stone. When they finally give in and go to kiss Medusa, that's when they first say "I'm think I'm turning into the stone." If you view the lyrics through this lens all the verses seem to be someone trying desperately to avoid the fate of turning into stone for loving Medusa and the chorus is them having turned to stone beginning Medusa to end their eternal imprisonment by shattering them.

    💜💜💜 glad you’re back!!!
The theory I’ve seen with this one, is this is someone becoming a villain through a failed relationship. They want to just break it off, but they can’t, so they become cruel and hardened instead.

the theme of the album goes along the lines of 'beauty is dangerous'. that's actually a line in the song rising, and ootd plays on vanity. so yes you got the medusa reference, as siyeon was turned to stone before she could finish her line at the end. the choreo also has a lot of references, such as the arms behind jiu's head at the start resemble snakes. medusa's lore is pretty tragic, one betrayed by beauty. they could be poking at a lot of things, such as the entertainment industry or even kpop itself. of course korean society has been portrayed as too beauty centric with its large cosmetic and plastic surgery industry.

Ah that's so true! I like that that's the social commentary they're tackling for this album!

I was waiting for this reaction! Love your interpretation of it. This song is so marvelous and is so fun to listen to in the car. It's definitely about Medusa and its about going down a darker path and knowingly falling into the trap and lures of Medusa. She is calling out and turning them into stone and the birds wanting to fly is them wanting to be set free but I think they are also happy with their ending as stones in Medusa's presence.
