A cool detail that I saw from another comment on the MV for R.o.S.E BLUE, which made me love the MV 10x more. Each of the girls that are trapped, represent one of the five stages of grief.
Denial: Yoohyeon is sitting in a classroom trying to pretend nothing is happening, even though everything around her is a mess. She also seems confused when she sees Jiu, because she is convinced nothing is wrong.
Anger: Sua just embodies anger. This one is very self explanatory
Bargaining: Dami is sitting on a pile of gold, and tries to bargain her way out of being shot.
Depression: Siyeon is sitting in a room full of screens, trying everything she can to forget about everything around her. If I'm not mistaken, she doesn't even look at Jiu once.
Acceptance: Gahyeon welcomes Jiu with a smile, and accepts her fate. I'm sure others will have pointed out her role as Jiu's sister in this MV as well, based on the game lore, which makes this choice even better.

Summer Holiday. DC company is unconventional enough to say, "let's do summer album" and then proceed to produce dark as hell song as the title. Meanwhile, other groups did summer love songs...

Actress Jiu always gets me on rose blue, she’s amazing. Regarding her being the only one to realize they were not in reality, I saw comments before saying that it’s because she looked up to the sun in the beginning of the MV and realized that it wasnt blinding her, so she realized that it was an illusion, so she woke up! People also say that she was Gahyeon’s sister here, thus the look on her face. And Sua was the only was who seemed to be mad at Jiu, and people assume that its bcs she knows that Jiu was about to sacrifice herself, and she wants to tell her not to do it.
Regarding BEcause, the BE is a Chinese character (I think) thats also the point choreo, which means sadness, so it’s like, the “sadness+cause”, so when they sing “BEcause I like you” it can translate to “the cause of sadness is liking you”. Youre also right that it’s an obsession type of song. It’s from the Summer Holiday album, a standalone album thats not part of any storyline! It’s Dreamcatcher’s version of a “summer” song (it is something like chills for the summer thingy). Oh, and the MV is inspired by the movie “Us” (which I havent really seen yet), it has some similar scenes, like the part where Gahyeon has her hands cradling her face. Regarding the song, the part where Sua’s rapping (?) at the bridge with the apple scene, the one doing the runs was Yoohyeon! I think that’s all I can say since maybe others can give some better explanations…

Korea has a tradition of telling horror stories in summer to cool off by getting chills. So when Dreamcatcher does a summer song, instead of bright and cheerful they release a song about being so obsessed with someone to murder and turn the corpse into a doll so they can be together forever. The next song on the Summer Holiday album Airplane is a really fun upbeat summer song. The whole album is their 2nd best mini-album IMO.
Yoohyeon sang the angel background behind SuA's whisper rap. It's a breath support technique and hers is a few levels more advanced than other members.
Well well well... BEcause is meant to be summer song which in the Kpop industry, it is meant to be fun, cheery and bubbly .... unless the group is Dreamcatcher and it is their take on a "summer" song which is based on a Korean tradition where you tell ghost stories or visit haunted places so that you can feel the "chills" to fight the summer heat.
Officially the song unravels a story of an obsession and longing for love. The capitalise BE in the title is used in context as the Hanja character 悲’ (‘BE’) as they sound alike and the word meaning sadness, and the title BEcause could be loosely translate as the cause of sadness, and paired with the line BEcause I like you or BEcause I love you, the sadness is caused by liking or loving someone. Also, the whole creepy toxic vibe is link to the choreography where there is a scene of someone choking another, and the lyrics about "forever mine, even your breath" and then "your face blue...like an ocean view" kind of reflect someone being strangled until the fact turns blue etc.
Also, the MV plot theme has another layer that officially borrowed quite a bit of plot elements from the horror movie "Us" by Jordan Peele where doppelgangers who were forced to live underground depraved of the "finer" things and are trying to are trying to take over their "privileged" above ground counterparts...won't go into much details as it would be better if you watch the movie yourself if you haven't). There are a lot of details in the MV that point to this such as the movie "Us" which has scenes depicting a hall of mirror, someone being captured and replaced, the carnival; similarly the choreography also uses the movie themes such as the doppelgangers holding hand in a chain, the slight side to side head tilts, ending pose of the center member which two hand on her face, mirrored choreography etc.. There are also a few easter eggs for the doppelgangers concept such as the MV is 3:13 minute long (coincidence? I think not) , and that the opening scene and ending scene has the members in completely different outfits (with the ending outfit more whimsical), as well as the completely drain symmetrical hourglass at the end indicating that at some point, the doppelgangers replaced their original counterpart.

The concepts are obsessive love and doppelgängers
- the choreography and main look is the doppelgänger side of the MV. Hwang Sooyeon confirmed that for the choreography. The doppelgänger thing (also confirmed by Sua in a live) is like which is a reference to the horror movie US (the choreo is also inspired by the movie. ei the scissors, the first scene with Gahyeon and Jiu and more…) Also the whole abandoned amusement park thing… watch the movie the whole MV has a lot of US references
- the capital in BEcause is for the Chinese word for sadness, which sounds like BE
- the obsessive love thing is quite clever. On a first look it’s just some of the lyrics and choreo but then Gahyeon on the chorus sings ‘cheonsagateun eolgullo’ 차선 같은 얼굴로 in the melody of Für Elise by Beethoven with a half step (A#).
What is so interesting about that is that Beethoven wrote that piece for one of his students either Elise of Therese (sloppy handwriting), evidence suggests that he was always in love with his students in an obsessive way.
So it all just works with them quoting Beethoven in a song about obsessive love. It’s so cleverRrRrR ArgHhHh

one musician from classical musicians react pointed out a reference to Ludwig Van Beethoven's Fur Elise on the line "With your angelic face", which might be due to the fact that Beethoven was into this girl named Elise and so he composed the piece

So, if "BE" is the Hanja character that means "sadness", and we consider "cause" as a noun, that would make the meaning of this song's title as "The Cause of Sadness". And that would make the lyric "because I like you" to loosely mean "the cause of sadness is I like you". That's very deep & profound.

Btw the one who laughed at the end is Gahyeon so we see that Gahyeon is the main character.

Gahyeon is the evil side of Jiu (doppelganger) , cuz in the beginning Jiu is like looking at the mirror and there’s Gahyeon infront of her ( her reflection ) then Gahyeon tries to choke her. And also at Sua’s part near the end when Sua gives herself an apple ( which I think is poisoned ).
they mentioned the MV was inspired by the movie (US) which has evil doppelgangers. I also see a lot of alice in wonderland references which leads me to believe the song is not about physical doppelgangers but ones of different personalities - alice undergoes somewhat of an identity crisis and there are many split personalities in the story. although most of the lyrics can be read as obsessive love, the start of the bridge which often reveals the real intent goes "It’s fine even if you refuse me, another voice of mine". in this light it could be about one's internal struggle for control, perhaps between the good side and the evil side.
one imagery to support this is sua giving herself an apple through a broken mirror. mirrors in past dc mvs show reflections but the dark side. thus this scene suggest ones dark voice is trying to tempt or poison you, depending on which metaphorical reference you want to use with the apple. there is also a short screech sound during dami's rap, taken from the movie psycho which highlights multiple personality disorder. so some of the lyrics which seem psychotic like "face turning blue, like an ocean view" might be representing one side trying to kill the other for control.
I was curious about your comments about rose blue, so I looked it up, and apparently in Japan blue roses are a symbol of achievement of the impossible.
In the making of R.o.S.E Blue MV, there's an uncut scene where JiU point her gun toward Gahyeon even sadder. JiU's sad expression look so real, but didn't make it to final cut...she have a potential as an actress...

Dreamcatcher always makes bops worthy of seeing live because it's something about each of the members voices and presence that draws your attention
"R.o.S.E Blue" is a game collaboration with the Korean mobile game "Girl, Café, Gun". It was written by the game's music producer Esti, who is a Dreamcatcher fan. That's why it sounds a bit different.
JiU enters the crystal and frees the members by shooting them with her gun. Unfortunately, she used up all the bullets on the members and has none left for herself, so she sacrificed herself for the members. That's our leader for you. 😭😭
In BEcause, Dreamcatcher are outdoing themselves once again. Musically, the song is a fantastic journey. There actually are "cute" parts, but there also are parts where the guitars go full metal. The variations in BEcause remind me of their previous masterpiece, Deja Vu. The bridge with SuA's slow rap and Yoohyeon's backing vocals is possibly the most beautiful one they have ever done.
About the meaning: According to Dami, BEcause is about love becoming obsession. And also, this is a stand-alone story. They go back to their horror roots, which I really enjoy. They noted that if you look at "BE" as a written Chinese character "悲“, that would mean "sadness". So the song title would mean "The Cause of Sadness". And that would make the lyric "because I like you" to maybe mean "the cause of sadness is I like you".
The video picks up on that. JiU seems to be the puppet master here (or her doppelganger!). She is the one trapping the other members and turning them into puppets, but Gahyeon tries to escape (as you can see by her throwing off the cage right in the beginning). It seems JiU catches her again though, "because she likes her". And I didn't even touch on the references to the movie "Us" yet, there is so much going on. The lyrics are even creepier. SuA sings: "Your face turns blue, blue. Your expression is like ocean view.", hinting at strangulation due to the one being obsessed taking things way, way too far. Dreamcatcher are clearly not afraid to tackle the difficult subjects, and they do it masterfully here - again. For me, this is more than just pop, it is art.
Although many have already commented explanation for BEcause I need to copy my interpretation as this is one of my Favorite M/V and although not as complex as OOTD, still it is not an easy M/V to process.
BEcause is a standalone track (unlike OOTD which is part of a duology) but it has some of the most complex visual references I have ever seen in an M/V and paired with its really creepy lyrics it is just a real masterpiece. Just a few things to point out:
In the title "BE" as written by the Chinese character "悲“, means "sadness" so "BEcause I love you" means that the source of my sadness is that I love you. It is a song about obsessive love while the visuals are heavily inspired by the movie "US" by Jordan Peele where doppelgangers living underground take over the life of their counterparts. Contrary to that in BEcause it is more like an obsessive Shadow side that craves love and a normal side (red represents the shadow side, blue represents the normal side while purple is an indication that these side live together, like the tapestry change you have already pointed out). The hourglass starts the obsessive cycle 20:51 when the shadow side breaks 20:41 free (with a smirk) and starts corrupting the normal side 20:48 while eventually the obsessive side gets rejected and becomes the victim of itself and becomes the new normal side puppeteering the shadow side 24:21 hence the smirk and the laugh at the end of the video. And now the cycle can starts over...
Some details I love are how in the lobby at the beginning the dresses of the people who will be taken over during the video are presented 21:10 Also the old electric chair used as a throne with roses is a nice one 22:44. Exactly half the scenes use wrong lighting setup enforcing the duality, just like all the mirror and upside down images. Finally plenty of images are exact recreations from the "US". Overall, I am also in love with BEcause M/V :) Stay the way you are like a beautiful painting is straight up reference to Good night, "like my very own doll" (one of their earlier song) . The doll you can technically interpret as a corpse, especially that right after the "take away the spilled paint before it hardens " is basically blood.... Similar to how Blue Blue your face turns blue is suffocation.
I love how you both immediately just get what’s going on. You’re always so thoughtful in your interpretations. Dreamcatcher is always serving with the facial expressions and the acting… ROSE blue always makes me cry. Also, blue roses are shown in the Deja Vu MV which is a nice little Easter egg!

I always took the lyrics of BEcause to be someone who was so obsessed that they loved someone to death. The bridge lyrics seem to equate the painting with a crime scene. 😱
Rose blue is criminally underrated and it’s such a beautiful song with an even better MV. Dreamcatcher wanted to make a summer song for Insomnia, but since they aren’t your typical cute bubbly type they created BEcause. A song that instead of cooling you off with refreshing summer vibes gives you the chills with horror and unease. BEcause is a love song inspired by Jordan Peele’s movie Us, which tells of doppelgängers. BEcause is made up from two words, bi which means sadness in Hanja form, and the English word cause, when put together they form “"The Cause of Sadness”. In the music video images of the members having two sides are shown in both innocent and malicious manners. Gahyeon and Jiu are in a relationship that soon becomes an obsession, Jiu soon realizes that Gahyeon isn’t as innocent as she appears and soon begins to run from the very obsession she once thought she controlled. This is definitely one of my favorite tracks by DC, thanks for the Great reaction to Rose Blue and BEcause.

I love the crescendo part where jiu wanted to hold the hand and it dissappear in r.o.s.e blue. The violin really express the seperation theme so good!!

Dreamcatcher took a 'summer holiday' in a seaside town which is home to a race of shapeshifters who live in tunnels under the town. While they are there the townspeople and eventually themselves are slowly replaced by perfect copies who are more than a little evil. This is combined with one of their favorite themes, obsessive love that seeks to turn the loved one into an object, a perfect doll. Gahyeon at the end is impossibly perfectly beautiful, a porcelain doll. Again the colors red and blue are prominent and very significant. Oh. almost forgot, the chair. If you take a close look at it you can see that it is a torture/execution chair with built-in restraints. Creepy, as Dami notes. Jiu said she had to practice the closing smirk over and over because that expression is not part of her personality.
The "tv monitors" scene probably reminded you of the similar scene from "Odd Eye", again with Siyeon. Which of course came a year after R.O.S.E. Blue, but you watched that first.🙂 And "BEcause" is based on the horror movie "US", which in case you don't know, is about evil doppelgangers😱

BEcause was inspired by the movie US for the doppelgänger concept and even some of the choreo. Gahyeon reaching to choke JiU at the start choreo, the mirror SuA giving an apple to real SuA, real Dongie getting dragged and replaced. The members in white ending up in a different place while the members doppelgängers in the other outfits are in the lobby at the end. BE is capitalized because it means Sadness in Chinese while sounding like “be”. The sound is an obsessive kind of love. “blue as an ocean view”, forever love, forever mine. Dami’s rap slayed and SuA’s part right before the dance break. I love the pendulum choreo with Siyeon moving between them. JiU’s smirk at the end. And Yoo’s run oh my god. Once you check into that hotel you aren’t leaving.. or least as you entered anyway.. The title track for the “Summer Holiday” album- not the kind of summer song people thought of, but it’s DC, they couldn’t have the something bright as a title; it had to be spookey and catchy as hell. They left the bright and summer songs for the b-sides. lol

Yeah DC Company did “what they do best” something unconventional… Releasing a “summer” album with one of the darkest themes… As the others have stated “BEcause” is loosely based on the Jordan Peele movie, “Us,” given the dual personalities of the members. Also the background of the “R.o.S.E. Blue” lyrics were from the teaser images from Dystopia: The Tree of Language album with “Scream” as the title. Both were released fairly while Handong was in China. Great reactions!!!
Rose blue is my fav unofficial MV the lyrics were just really sad , they were talking about a name that is forgotten and then at the end jiu says I am that name that's faded and forgotten , although jiu's hair color is purple here but during the MV it looks blue so I would like to believe that she is the Rose blue
The photos in the R.o.S.E BLUE lyric video are from the Dystopia: The Tree of Language album (Scream), they probably used those because it was their most recent proper album before R.o.S.E BLUE was released (also hate that particular channel for lyrics videos, they're annoying scumbags that take other peoples' translations and try to monetize the videos by playing some unrelated music at the end that they have the rights to, apparently)

The saddest part of the Rose Blue video is that not only does Jiu realize she's in the dream, *they're no longer in it with her*. She's alone, because she freed them. So not only does she know it's not real, she knows she's trapped, and she's utterly alone. It makes me so glad it's not part of their lore, lol. So so pretty though!

It's very cool and expands on the idea of DC being JiU's dolls. It's just a minute, not for a reaction but just something you might like to see.
I think there is sadness because I think the girls occasionally try to break the spell she has them under and escape her, so they're sad when they're conscious of being prisoner, but it's fleeting.

You pretty much got it spot on for BEcause, well done!
The 'ROSE BLUE' MV happened before the Dystopia Trilogy so some of the things you have previously seen are throwbacks to 'ROSE BLUE'. In Siyeon's scene from 'Odd Eye', she was sitting in a room with TVs; her Right eye is Blue in both of those MVs. For me, that one is the most obvious throwback to spot.
Things like that also happened in 'BEcause', especially the stuffed animals in the bedroom with Han Dong and Dami. That's a throwback from when Dami dismembered the bear in the MV for 'Chase Me' while the girls were messing with the dreams of the Supernatural Hunter. The extra videos around 'Chase Me' reveal that it is Dami who ripped the eye from the bear and she also ripped off its arm; that's not CGI, she actually did that IRL. She's really strong for being so thin.
Dami is the designated Hand Model for the group (most of the time; in Piri, it was Yoohyeon's arm reaching for Siyeon). In the MV for 'Good Night', Dami is the one who reached through the picture frame on the table to pick up the book. In 'Scream', she is the one who dunked the mask in the tank of water. There are other instances as well.
During the filming of 'BEcause', lots of people (especially newer fans of the group) mixed up HanDong and Yoohyeon because they were both Brassy Blondes for the MV. I love how you guys were picking up on all the themes even before seeing the video, that's so cool :D I think that you might have been thinking about Sword Art Online? It's not a movie, but that was a theme of that specific anime (and season........3????? of that anime is like gun game cafe or something?). You guys are so great, lol, you are like the first reactors I've seen that get the story of that video the first time around. I told you guys, man, she acts her ass off in that MV! Rose Blue makes me cry every time, too, it's soooooo good! I have seen around on the internet - and better Insomnias can correct me if I'm wrong - but the MV does have ties to the game, I guess Gahyeon is supposed to be JiU's little sister, which is why she looks at her like that, and like I guess each girl is stuck in a bad dream, and she saves them from it.
BEcause has the Chinese (?) character for "Sadness", so it's like a play on words - you are the cause of my sadness. Also, it's based on the horror film US - they are being replaced by doppelgangers who lived underground, but rose to the surface to replace the "originals". In Korea, they watch scary movies over the summer because the chills chase the heat away, lol. That's why this is the TT of their Summer Holiday album (which is a banger, the b-sides slap). Also, I don't know if you noticed or not, but the beginning of the MV is a single take, and I love that! Someone pointed out that Gahyeon's facial expression in the beginning goes from smiling to sad, like the theatre drama masks, and now I can't un-see it. The girls have said the song is about obsessive love (that I think is abusive, personally - your face turning blue alludes to strangling). Also, if you listen, the stocatto strings give a slight Fur Elise vibe. The backing vocal during SuA's speaking part is Yoohyeon, because ofc it is. Speaking of the doll vibe, you should DEFINITELY check out the dance practice/performance video, the choreo is so great!
