  • Taking just a little bit more time to apply your metallic paints can make a huge difference to the end result. In this video, Bruce breaks down how he worked with layering metallic paints on this Space Marine sword.

Absolutely! Definitely something we’ll be rolling in and we have our community TMM challenge starting in August 😀

I came across your channel by chance but immediately realized it is a true goldmine! Excellent video that has arrived at the perfect moment for me, I'm trying to master my TMM (or at least... Git Gud at it!) before going for NMM

I really like this technique of combining NMM methods with TMM paints. Giving a nice contrast from almost a candied finish to a metallic shine.
I think it gives a very plucked off the battlefield, frozen in time, and placed in a museum with light sources that aren't the same as the scene lighting they were pulled from, but the original lighting still exists somehow. Very much how I'd imagine Trazyn's museum feels as the true metallic catches and glints with "wrong" light sources, but its so minor that it doesnt give a TMM look.

Now that’s an idea for a hell of a GD diorama ❤️

@@GitGudPainting I saw Marco Frisoni do it in a video once and I've been thinking about the effect ever since.

I wish the Scale75 metallics weren't completely sold out in the US, all I've heard about them is raves. It looks like you did this one with a synthetic brush? Impressive!

Yeah the W&N ones, they’re decent for synthetics! It’s a shame about Scale 75 in the states. People rave about AK too but I think that’s hard to get over there too

@@GitGudPainting there are retailers who have AK metallics here - are they that much better than VMC metallics? Although honestly most of the time I am just fine with the Citadel, but VMC chrome is a godsend.

To be honest, I'd probably keep at it with the VMC metallics in your shoes!

For true metallic metals, you can't go wrong with buying the Scale 75 sets. They come with a small guide in each set on how to achieve the best results for each metal, and each set has ideal colours for those metals. My favourite is the silver set, but they're all good.
Regarding tenebrous grey- I believe 'tene' is said the same way us Britons would say tenner. 'Lend us a tenner'. So tenner-brous. I could be wrong, but that's how I say it. It is a good colour; when it separates on my wet pallette, it seems to have some red in it.

For edge highlighting silver, I recommend buying Pro-Acryl metallic medium. It is the most reflective silver paint I've used, even more so than Vallejo Metal Colour Chrome.

I think I only have the S75 decayed metal, but I’m going to be sure to pick some more up!
