HEY, Cody, if Gram makes you a monitor (gives you a wrech) your Comments will stand out. In addition, it gives you the power to delete a comment &/or ban someone from the comments, just sayin...
Wow! Your Walmart has a lot more yarn than the two stores in my town, combined. Good luck on your project, Cody. I hope that you will share with us your project when it's finished.
Nice little outing. I swore I saw another skeins of what Cody picked up on a shelf a little to the right of where it should have been. I wanted to call Cody and tell him to stop and look! I hope he has enough yarn!
Hello you two! I just watched today's video, Friday August 9th, because I wanted more of you and I'm caught up with videos day-to-day. So watching you go through Walmart I got to thinking when Cody was talking about hooks and Glenda was talking about Susan Bates all the time the inline hooks, I use different hooks for different yarns in different projects. So Cody it helps to have an assortment Good luck. PS I love watching the videos because you're so specific. My macular degeneration is a hindrance to these videos that have music and you just watch them. They make me craz! I can see sort of and it helps to hear while I'm looking and you guys are fantastic! Glenda I've been watching you for a long time I just don't usually write comments because poking along with those letters is impossible but now with the microphone I talk and it types. Sorry I got carried away with it it's so easy have a wonderful day
Poor Cody!! I know exactly how you feel Cody!! I go to get yarn and it is so expensive and no one has enough to make anything with it!!! I am brave though!! I often mix yearns {only acrylic} And conjure up my own color ways!! Thank's for letting me go shopping with both of you!!! Vicky in Michigan!!
I trust your stash grows quickly, Cody. You're privileged to have a grandmother who crochets. Or maybe I should rather say, Glenda, YOU are lucky to have a grandson who is interested in your craft. I wish anyone of my children or grandchildren would be interested in either knitting or crocheting, or both! May you both be blessed. 🤗🤗💜💜
I did a blanket queen size blanket with the black and white bernat baby yarn. Used half double and double crochet. The finished blanket had a somewhat optical illusion vibe.
I have used the Granny Square yarn for hot pads and the work up real nice. They are the kind that you single crochet around and around the chain until it folds in and makes a square. Susan bates hooks are my favorite.
Walmart does have some good prices but, like you said they don't always have enough for a project. I used 2 onthe baby Mandala cakes to make a rainbow baby blanket by Bonnie of Bonnie Bay Crochet. It had Celtic stitches, a very beautiful blanket. So, the 3 cakes of the sparkle should be enough depending on your stitch. Looking forward to seeing your blankets Cody. Joann's usually has a decent supply of Mandala for a project and if you can use coupons it's not too bad of a price. Even better if its on sale too. Wishing you both a wonderful day 🥰🤗💖
I love to see what Cody is making and the yarn he picks out. He is doing an awesome job just starting out with his crochet projects. Thanks Glenda for taking us shopping. Our Walmart doesn't offer as many selections in each yarn variety. You're actually lucky.
I can't go to Walmart anymore. No matter what I intend to buy, I always make a beeline for the yarn. Then I stand there like a deer in the headlights, scanning for something gorgeous and can't live without. And then I see the lonely scraggly single skeins that no one wants, and I feel sorry for them, and pick them up, hug and squeeze them and tell them I think they are beautiful and deserve to be transformed into something awesome that will serve a purpose and promise them I'll find them a forever home. 😂 But seriously, I once bought every skein of RHSS Ombre they had, and even had to find help to get the ones I couldn't reach. It was probably a 50 or 60 skein haul. Got a few interesting sideways glances on the way to checkout. But I held my head up high because I was on a rescue mission, and yarn just makes me happy. 😊
Hi Glenda and Cody I love when you and Cody take us along yard shopping I can’t wait, what Cody will be creating Will be ready for the tutorial Take care 🥰 Hoping your mom is doing well
Walmart does have great prices, just not huge quantities. Can't wait to see what Cody makes. I like these short videos, perfect to watch late at night.
Hi Glenda and Cody! Your Walmart is fantastic compared to mine...no Premier yarn and only Lion brand Mandala cakes. Glenda I either have 20 H hooks or none! Enjoyed the shopping trip! Have a great night! Can't wait to see your baby blankets!
I was at Walmart today and thought I'd run my the yarn isle. Didn't look too hard, though I wasn't interested in buying yarn today. Saw lots of Red Heart yarn which I'm not a fan of and the Mandala cakes, though there weren't too many... Enjoyed your day at Walmart with you!!
I'm really enjoying watching Cody get bitten by the crochet bug! Have you seen the denim shawl from Okie Girl Bling n Things? It's done in the moss stitch and she used the Mandala Ombre...I've made several with that yarn and they're super easy and so cozy!
@@CreativeGrandma I was excited to find out you designed for Annie’s Attic and Leisure Arts! Also I have to order online I work long night hours in Advance Auto warehouse. I love Red Heart Granny Square it’s what got me involved in all the wonderful TH-cam videos. My Walmart has a pitiful yarn supply though they had the granny square for a short time.
The first blanket (or thing) I ever rocketed was with the teal green premier puzzle yarn :) I love my blanket and Cody is not alone. I made errors and it wound up looking like a rocket ship and I had to frog the entire thing 🤦🏽♀️ stitch markers helped with that, until I got better at finding stitches :)
Hi Glenda and Cody! It’s great to hear that you’ve motivated Cody into getting his own stash. It looks like your Walmart has a nice selection to choose from.
Hi, Glenda & Cody. Alot of fun going with you to Walmart yarn shopping. I have a Walmart not too far from me, but I rarely go there & everytime I go they have less & less yarn. I am looking forward to seeing how the baby blanket with that Bernat yarn comes out. Maybe next time you go yarn shopping, you should let Buzz "stowaway"😄🐝
Good afternoon Glenda and Cody 🌞 my Walmart has no yarn 🧶 I ended up ordering it on line. I wanted to make that blanket like Cody with the puzzle yarn. So glad I got it so cheap online. Stay cool. It hit out🩷
Good morning Glenda and Cody, When I buy mandala yarn to make a blanket and there isn't enough, I finish my blanket by pulling some colors from the mandala and finish it in a solid wide border. Hugs from VT
Good luck Cody. I find the same thing at my Wal-Mart's here. Made the mistake of buying ombre yarn and needed more. Use ccolor lot on label, yet, didn't really match. Lesson learned. Looking forward to see what you create and how your stash grows. Believe me, it won't take long.
This was fun. I think you’ll like what you got Cody. Sadly my Walmart is the same. They don’t have much. I recommend going to Hobby Lobby on the sale week. It’s become my go to for yarn. I’m excited to see what you make with your yarn. Hi Glenda. 👋🏻
Hi Gran and Cody! I got the Mandala sequins in Ametrine (?), gemstone colors in a 3 pack from Herrshnerrs or JoAnn online. Maybe $12 for all three, and I enjoyed working with it. Reminded me of my Grandma who crocheted sequins onto her hats by HAND! Peace and Blessings to you 🧶🌻😊
Hello Glenda And Cody, I just watched your trip to Walmart video. Isnt it crazy tho how when you go with a plan of what you want to make there's not enough and when you are jist casually looking there's a ton 🥴so then I buy the yarn I wasn't planning on , bring it home and think, now I have to order yarn online to make what I initially intended to make AND the other yarn is put away ugh lol, anyway I really enjoyed this video. Ypu are both so Blessed to have each other❤ I am sending Cody a little something to get himself some yarn and needles. Enjoy
@maryannedeering1663 Thank You so much I know Cody will appreciate your thoughtfulness, he was really disappointed when we went to walmart as he had his heart set of the Lion Brand Mandala and that is the only place around where we live to go in the store and buy it. I guess he will have to shop on-line like so many of us Thank You again!!
Good luck Cody🎉! You have a good start😁! I find with the Bernat Blanket yarns I have to bump my hook size higher than the recommended size! I crochet it too tight 😊! I end up using a P or Q hook for the drape. Depending on the pattern ☺️! Thanks for taking us along shopping ❤!
I went to Walmart before work to try to get some clearance red heart granny square yarn, and the yarn section looked just like yours! 😡😡 Soooo disappointing! But I'm excited to see what Cody cooks up! 🤟🏻👽👻🐷🧶🍄🫶🏻😻
I have made a baby blanket using 3 skeins of Bernat blanket yarn. Crochet Crowd has patterns for them. The Walmart brand of yarn is softer than Red Heart and nice yarn to work with. 🧶💜🙏🏻
Hi Glenda and Cody, looking forward to seeing the baby blanket Cody.😊Our Walmart department here is pathetic…I haven’t seen a selection of hooks like that here.Have a great day!😊🧶❤️
Hi Glenda and Cody!! I wasn't surprised that Cody couldn't get all of the yarn that he needed. Why Wal-Mart doesn't stock the shelves better is beyond me. 🤔 Don't waste your time driving over to DuBois or St Marys ~~ they don't have a good selection either. Thankfully, I can order online!! Keep hookin Cody!! 😊
Peaches and cream is used for wash rags or towel toppers. It's 100 percent cotton. People also make decorative things like Christmas garlands and such.
Our Walmarts never have yarn stocked. It is always scattered. You can't really do much with one skein. I have a lot of just one color because I like making flowers, butterflies, and such. I have found our JoAnn's to be the best place to shop when they are having a sale. Fewer and fewer places are carrying yarn at all. They keep downsizing. ☮️🌎🌲
@ Cody- The red heart ombre is made in 2 different countries now, hence the big difference in color. And the cotton you first picked up is always small cakes. You'd get sticker shock if you got a 400-yard skein. I'd be asking my grandmother for some of her yarns😅. She has a nice stash/display!!
My 4 closest Wal-marts yarn selection is miniscule at best. And if you look some of the Red Heart Super Saver colors don't match the older ones in my stash. They do have the lowest price on Mandala yarn that I've found.
the Walmart where I live only has a very small selection of yarn. like maybe 8 shelves of it plus one shelf beside it for the mandela yarn .. 😞. I hope Cody can get more of the one if he needs it.. note to say I live in a very small town and my Walmart is not a super center .. we call it a baby Walmart..
I haven’t been to Walmart in a long time. I’m like you I so miss AC Moore! I think I tried every one of their blanket yarns. The coupons the great sales it was the best
Glenda and Cody, If you have a Meijer nearby, you might want to check out their yarn. I found a lot of different colors (than what Walmart has) of Mandala and Mandala Baby. I couldn’t resist. I usually get just one skein each because I make prayer shawls to donate. I got 8 different ones, lol.
My Walmart's yarn looks the same as your, pretty picked over, and such a mess. Kinda sad 😔 and frustrating. That's why I end up going on line to purchase mine. Its hard when you like to look at it in person, to see if that's really what you want. Thanks for sharing, Blessings Always 💕
Great video as always. If you are looking for a green for Christmas, everyone who purchased Lion mystery bags has received Schitts Creek green . Usually six skeins and Vanna's Choice or one Pound of Love.
I live in Georgia in an area that isn't really what I'd call small town anymore, but we don't have many options for yarn in my town. I think there is a new shop about 15 minutes away in our town, but it's sort of inconvenient for me to get there. Walmart is about 3 miles from me. I have said for a while now that Walmart needs to step it up when it comes to yarn and the fabric/craft section. So many of us go to Walmart that I think they'd make a good deal of money if they expanded and carried additional options for yarn. I end up like you said and buying most of my yarn online.
I have made a few blankets for my teenagers with the Hometown yarn. Walmart is by far the best price. Takes a LOT of skeins but the kids love them in the winter!! They also love scarfs and hats. It’s my favorite!! The Peaches & Cream stripes are small cottons BUT, BUT it’s so much softer than everything else. Give it a try, it’s pleasant for small things like hot pads, cup sweaters etc ☺ I have run into the dye lot problem before but hit a few of the Walmarts in my area and been lucky to find the same dye lot. It’s risky but one can be successful. Ordering online can work too some times. You can also check to see how many SKU’s they carry in each Walmart by selecting the ‘in store’ option and at the top they will show how many SKUs that store will carry.
Walmart stores are not stocked equally. The stores near my home have very little yarn, but the store over 45 minutes away has a great selection. It also carries Caron brand. Main stay is not a bad brand. Cheers!
how about all the great savings I am constantly receiving from Joann? They always have sales going on. BTW, Cody, if you want start some cotton yarn, grab those Lily n Sugar cotton cones, Walmart has the best price on them so far than any other stores. Good luck in your start-up
Cody may want to try the Prym hooks since he has larger hands or the WeCrochet Dot hook set, that WeCrochet Dot hook set is currently on sale online right now for 30% off. I have both and I really like them. The Prym hooks are inline (Susan Bates style) and the Dot hooks are tapered (Boye style), both sets are ergonomic.
I ❤ my Clover hooks. But, like Grandma said, it's what I started with. I tried with the Susan hooks and almost gave up learning altogether because I didn't like the hook. Acrylic yarn is terrible for hot pads as it melts. I made a King Size blanket and it took 12 Bernat Blanket, it is so heavy
I like buying the mandala cakes at Walmart because of the price. I have the same problem with my local store though. Not enough stock. When they do have several cakes of one color they are usually different dye lots.
I know they must have more in the back somewhere because when it comes time for clearance, they have tons of them. It never hurts to ask an employee/stock person though.
Thank You for watching remember to drop a like on the video! 😘 Thanks for the yarn I’ll have to go to another Walmart to get the rest later!

The Peaches & Cream stripes are small cottons BUT, BUT it’s so much softer than everything else. Give it a try, it’s pleasant for small things like hot pads, cup sweaters etc ☺
I have run into the dye lot problem before but hit a few of the Walmarts in my area and been lucky to find the same dye lot. It’s risky but one can be successful. Ordering online can work too some times.
You can also check to see how many SKU’s they carry in each Walmart by selecting the ‘in store’ option and at the top they will show how many SKUs that store will carry.
I will have to give it a try, they just looked so small to me LOL
@@CreativeGrandma Oh I completely agree but it’s easy access and easy to work with. I like it ☺
I still have to check my Walmart and see if they ever added yarn again. They stopped years ago.
Walmart stores are not stocked equally. The stores near my home have very little yarn, but the store over 45 minutes away has a great selection. It also carries Caron brand. Main stay is not a bad brand. Cheers!
My Wal-Mart on the self it says puzzle yarn is 5.78 but they ring up for 7.98 the mandala ombre is so soft thank you for sharing
how about all the great savings I am constantly receiving from Joann? They always have sales going on. BTW, Cody, if you want start some cotton yarn, grab those Lily n Sugar cotton cones, Walmart has the best price on them so far than any other stores. Good luck in your start-up
When I make a baby blanket. I use 15 ounces per blanket or clise to it. For larger blanket. I use 50 ounces or close to it.
There is a trick to the shopping buggy, lift up the part that creates the seat and it should come out
I ❤ my Clover hooks.
I wish I could get my grandsons to crochet with me.
I like that orange ombre
I like buying the mandala cakes at Walmart because of the price. I have the same problem with my local store though. Not enough stock. When they do have several cakes of one color they are usually different dye lots.
I know they must have more in the back somewhere because when it comes time for clearance, they have tons of them. It never hurts to ask an employee/stock person though.
Hi Glenda and Cody. I'm A Mainstay yarn person when it comes to Wal-Mart. I see you have a pretty lighter blue that I don't get. 😯
