  • Hey everyone! Welcome back to another episode of The mel0n Review! Today we're checking out the Endgame Gear OP1 8k! Now this mouse peaked my interest for variety of reasons, of course the included 8k polling, custom switches and overall performance profile of the OP1 8k seems borderline too good to be true. But what really caught my eye is the hot-swappable switches and the repairability of the OP1 8k! Now I'll talk more about the repairability in the TEARDOWN video but in today's video we're going to do a deep-dive into the OP1 8K and see how good this mouse really is.
    I hope you all enjoy the review and I'll catch you all in the next episode of the mel0n review! Peace ✌

    I agree with you 100% that wired mice feel better than wireless. I have a theory that while wireless motion and click latency is negligible, there may be a simple accuracy difference between wired and wireless by just a couple pixels or something. A couple pixels is basically nothing when flicking long distances, but it can be a huge difference in micro adjustments, which is my main difficulty with wireless mice. I’ve been using the usb-c cable that comes with the Xlite V3’s to use every mouse wired. It’s lightweight enough to make up for any lack of flexibility, and can support up to 8K wired on mice that support it.

    It is so nice to see that EGG is joining Vaxee when it comes to perfection of mechanical switches. I tried so many mice with opticals and nothing comes close. I am not into wired mice though and the OP1 is too narrow for me. I hope they finally make the XM2w reality with the same switch tech. Until then or Vaxee further reducing weight I will continue running my NP01.

      There is a lot of debates about motion sync and it effectiveness. Personally I've been using it for a while and while it doesn't make a noticeable difference it's better than nothing if that makes sense. Totally up to personal preference whether to use it or not.

    The OP1 8k was literally my knight in shining armor because my previous favourite mouse and shape was the X2V2 mini and it's so similar to it. The two things I didn't enjoy about that mouse was that 4k was not worth using because of the battery so 8k wired fixed that. The other was how optical switches just feel noticeably worse than mechanical ones, on any mouse I've tried and the OP1 uses mechanicals and you can just put in whatever switches you want. I installed a light weight base mod as well, made it even nicer. I still use my X2V2 mini when playing on cloth pads when I get bored.
    I highly recommend this mouse to anyone who also loves the X2V2 mini shape.

    I gotta ask, do you actually sense the tracking difference between a 4K or even a 2k wireless mouse and the Op1 8k? I saw you on hit scan DPS on OW, would you honestly know the sensor diff on a blind test?

    • @mel0nFPS
      @mel0nFPS  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      So I don't really feel a difference in tracking per say but I can tell when it comes to flicking/static aiming as on 2 & 4k my flicking performance is significantly more accurate & consistent than it is on 1k.
      I know it sounds kinda crazy but it's a pattern I've noticed on high polling rate mice over my testing with different units & implementations.

      But from my testing 4k starts to cause fps drop when moving the mouse (in some games, specifically non gpu demanding games where you get very high fps). No noticeable performance drop on 2k.

    Why don’t you rate the products that you are viewing? Like give them your score from 1 through 10 .

    • @mel0nFPS
      @mel0nFPS  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Great question! because mouse shapes are so subjective due to different grip styles and hand sizes I wouldn't be accurate for me to rate a mouse out of 1-10 as my grip style won't be the same as 99.9% of my audience. From a technical standpoint I could rate things 1-10 but there's also some variance there too.
      That's why I just say what's good and bad about a mouse, mousepad or grip tape etc as it's the most accurate way of covering a product.

      @@mel0nFPS At my 45CM/360 I need enough slack that I can still feel the cable drag around.
      Especially with blink 180s as Tracer with lighter or smaller mice.
      I find that a mouse bungee ends up making it worse than without, as it puts the cables slack between the bungee and the mouse.
      So if I quickly drag the mouse from the bottom of the pad to the top. The mouse will bump into the cable. Sometimes causing the cable to go over the mouse and my hand, or even under my mouse if I lift it.
      My favorite mouse wire I used was one I made from an ethernet cable. Since it was super light but still stiff.
      So if I move my mouse quickly up the pad the wire would move with it staying out of the path of my mouse.
