Have you ever used automatic feeders? I have a few times. You have to buy a good one or they can malfunction and dump a whole bunch of food all at once. Thanks for the tips.😊
My fish had gotten used to fasting a bit already with a few shorter ones, and they were easily able to fast for 20 days with no issues. I know they are getting some natural food from their tanks as well, so it’s not a true fast. Also lowering the temperature can help lower metabolism so they require less food while away as long as it’s still in the accepted range for that fish.
I can tell you from experience, never let someone else do it. went on holiday for 2 weeks last year. good friend takes care of the fish, great explanation given how to feed, water change, and so on. With the best of intentions, he had cleaned the glass with the coarse side of a kitchen sponge. scratched all my glass. case of don't go on holiday
