    Hi Paul, A great video, thank you for sharing. The idea of shortcodes for websites is brilliant (I've been wanting to add some features to my wordpress site and that’s an elegant way of ding it), also the UTM google Analytics is pretty smart as well. I'm in windows using aText but I'll definitely be adding some of your ones to it. in aText I haven't found alternative responses that you show on same key, that’s pretty smart. I also love how you have it getting the persons name for response in email, that’s pretty smart too. Thank you again, kind regards

    Great video, thanks for sharing. My test expander interface looks different to yours, unless it's been updated. I prefer yours if that is the case.

      Yes, it has been updated since I made this video. But I'm planning to make more videos soon.

    Brilliant stuff with the email snippets. Can you open a website by typing in an abbreviation? For eg type go* to open an browser windows? Surely I am missing something. I can create a URL in TE but it does not open the URL but pastes it. I create the URL using the link feature as rich text type as they suggest?

    • @minor-co
      @minor-co  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Brad, TE can't open apps so the only way to make this work would be to type the snippet in the URL bar. However, I use Alfred to do something really similar which you may like: th-cam.com/video/YFAzSsrXu_0/w-d-xo.html

    Do you ever use any of the Zapier integrations with this at all?? I'm curious if it is worth the upgrade to that version of textexpander and what types of Zaps I might use with it...

    Hi Paul, thanks for your video. Really helpful. So I did set up my snippets after following your examples. BUT.... it is not expanding yet.... Do you have any idea why not? Whatever new Abbreviation I use, it doesn't change into full text. Do I need to activate something? Or ..? Looking forward to your answer, because now I put in the effort and didn't get the happy feelings :-)

    • @minor-co
      @minor-co  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hm, I'm not sure why it wouldn't be working. Perhaps check the capitalisation settings in the snippet which can cause issues. TextExpander also needs the correct permissions in your Mac settings. Other than that, try reaching out to TextExpander support directly and see what they say.

    As usual a great video thanks Paul!! Please may I ask, is there a way to put a pause in the string of commands? I need a pause between an enter command and a tab command as the data needs time to load before tabbing to the next event? Thanks in advance.

    • @minor-co
      @minor-co  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Chris! I don't think you can do this with TextExpander. But I also use a similar automation tool called Keyboard Maestro where this is possible.

    Thx for great vid...so, how is someone to remember every snippet by memory? Is there a way to...say, right-click and see all the options and then simply see the template snippet you want, click it, and it populate? OR...do you have to remember everyone of the 100 email templates I've saved by memory? Thx again :-)

    • @minor-co
      @minor-co  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Adam, I certainly don't remember all of them. There is a shortcut you can use to bring up a little search box. You can then type to find the snippet you're looking for. You'll find this in the preferences pane.

    Hi Paul: Question for you. Here is what I want to do. I have some Word templates I use. They are outline templates. I come in and there are Two places the Title, Date, series are placed. Can I use Text Expander within a Word Template? Or does Text Expander have outlining capabilities. I know it isn't meant to be a Word Processor so that is why I would like to come into my template do kind of like I have seen people talk about with email. But do that within Word. Any ideas there?

    • @minor-co
      @minor-co  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you probably could use TextExpander for this. It support rich text and I expect you'll want to use the Tab key function to have TextExpander jump between fields in tables.

    2 questions: 1. I can use the "short cuts" in any software I use on my Mac? 2. Is there a chance to connect attachments to a certain short cut (for example attaching a pdf price list)? Thx Markus

    • @minor-co
      @minor-co  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, this will work anywhere that you can type text. You can include images but not PDF's I'm afraid. What about attaching a URL to a PDF file?

    Hey ole Text Expander guru. Have you ever gotten Text Expander snippets to work with in a Microsoft office template?
    I want to populate my Word template with say ?Title in the title of course and the footer of an outline template. When I open the template in word I would like it to force the title from me and put in the document everywhere I have place the snippet. Short if Microsoft buying the Text Expander company is there any way of doing this?

    • @minor-co
      @minor-co  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry Mike, I don't fully understand what you're trying to do here. But TextExpander should work fine with Microsoft Word.

  • @algrayg
    @algrayg 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I was hoping the TextExpander had a date picker, but I don't see that capability. Any suggestions?

    • @minor-co
      @minor-co  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can insert todays date or a date modifications e.g. todays date + 5 days. But you're right, there is no data picker I'm afraid.

    • @algrayg
      @algrayg 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@minor-co Thanks Paul. Am I wrong to think that this is a good feature request? I do see that this is a bit of a slippery slope, but I don't see the value of the date/math functions. I would need to write scripts with a lot more logic than the current interface allows.

      I think it might be your email 'Name' setting. If it's showing as TAV in the sender/recipient info people might think this is your name.

    Why do you have so many snippets that are email templates? You are a big proponent of Pipedrive which also as email templates. Why use TextExpander for email templates? Thanks!

    • @minor-co
      @minor-co  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha, good question (very observant). This may come as a surprise, but I actually don't use the Pipedrive email. I just prefer to use Apple Mail and TextExpander (it's how I've been doing it for years)
