Hi, this song hit Billboard magazine and dabued on Bob Kingsley's American Country Countdown in the top 40 in January of 1990. I know this, because I have a few vinyl radio shows of American Country Countdown with Bob Kingsley, and on one of my radio shows, this song first dabued on the Billboard charts in that year, I forgot the exact date though.
Good reaction. This is the kind of country that doesn't sugar coat and comprimise. I will watch your country journey!! Also...there is a high pitched buzzing noise that comes thru your video.
Charlie stood up for what he believed in and he stood by it! He was a wonderful man too!❤ He was also multi talented and his band was too! He just passed away in July of 2020.
Arron Lewis is on of few artists id classify with the "Outlaws" wuch as Waylon, Willie, David Allen Coe, Hank Williams and his son Jr, and several others i can't name right now. We need more Country Music Outlaws taking the genre back
Released 1989. RIP Charlie! He has oh so many songs to choose from. Some of my favorites... "In America", "Long Haired Country Boy", "What This World Needs Is"
@@danmccloskey1807 Dan. Have you not heard Jason Aldean Try that in a small town? Not exactly a big Aldean fan, and really didn’t expect something like that from to be honest. Love his Fly Over States song tho.. Check out Hank Williams Jr’s America The Way I See It album.. The American Way has one of my all time favorite lines. Some high society lady say’s “is your horse outside!”. No ma’am he’s between my legs, but you’re too fat to ride…. You are probably looking for more like Waylon Jennings (my personal favorite), Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, early George Strait, Alabama. Sooo many good ones to list. I’m also very much a Nitty Gritty Dirt band fan. Not totally country. I love Metallica, AC/DC and the like. But hell, who doesn’t? Lol
This man is legend abd honest he's fought in the vestnam war he's been thru a lot hes a great singer and I love Charli he's a real been there done that man he means with he sings bro honest man I love him always will
I was raised on country music and personally today’s country music compared to the 60-90s really suck. There’s still some good country music floating around out there but mostly by the same singers from those times that’s still singing. It’s rare to come across a new country singer in today’s times that compares to back then. Funny thing is even though I was raised on country music I’m being pulled into the 60-80s rock/pop/jazz now. Want to hear something new.
He's Tottly right people done gone and put there bibles away it's time for god to stay in your heart and mind noone shows god the truth of his love he's gota see it or it won't be no way to heaven
Daniels did everything from serious, like this one, to comedy. One that I always like was "The Legend Of Wooley Swamp. An old southern ghost story turned into a song. If you like Simple Man, you would probably like "A Country Boy Can survive" by Hank Williams Jr. Very similar sound and subject and the visuals in the music video are great.
Charlie Daniels was an anazing man. His big hits were Devil Went Down to Georgia and In America. People love Long-Haired Country Boy, but that one leaves me "meh". I saw him live at a random county faur in, of all places, Oregon - long way from Tennessee, and that'swhere I first heard this one. Charlie was a no-nonsense guy. He was booked for some DC soiree shortly after he brought out "This Ain't No Rag, Its a Flag", a response to 9/11. The organizers tried to tell him he couldn't do that song because it might offend someone, so he kissed them off and refused the invitation to perform. Also suggest Toby Keith. He has goofy stuff like Red Solo Cup and As Good as I Once Was, and serious like Courtesy of the Red White and Blue.
Charlie was so awesome live. I went to see him play 4 times, 4 great concerts. the man and his fiddle were great. You should check out Reflections. It's a tribute song to Janis Joplin, Elvis and Ronnie Van Zant from Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Check out Hank Jr. His older stuff is better than his modern stuff. It is alot like this type of music & alot of what you describe of what your looking for. Good ones are "OD'd in denver" "Knoxville courthouse blues" & "Man of Steel"
Try the legend of wooly swamp,In America or Still in Saigon by CDB next . Hank Williams Jr ,Merle Haggard Waylon Jennings are also great country artist that tells it like thy see it .
Waylon Jennings songs Amanda, are you sure Hank done it this way, I’ve always been crazy, I may be used(but I ain’t used up). If you have never heard Wheeler Walker Jr he’s a newer country artist with an old country sound. He’s a comedian start with Fuck you bitch it’s probably the cleanest song he has. Also check out Creed Fisher Don’t California my Texas or Jesse Keith Whitley Messing with the wrong man featuring Upchurch, they are both newer country artists with classic country sounds.
oh cool thank you for all the recommendations on multiple songs lol. I definitely want to check out some of those newer country artists. I need people who will keep the sound rolling for my new found interest haha
RIP Charlie Daniels. The Highwaymen by Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson and Waylon Jennings is good. Merle Haggard is some old country too
Hi Dan. Lots of great recommendations here. For me, I would suggest for Charley Daniels, of course The Devil Went down to Georgia, and a few of his lesser knowns, Uneasy Rider and Uneasy Rider 89. Hilarious. 😂. As an old boomer, I can't stress enough, 2 of my my ever favorites, Mr. Chris Ledux, and imho, the Undefeated, Undisputed, High Emperor King of country music, King George Straight. To me with both Chris and George, they both have so many hits, I'd say just dive in. You cant go wrong from any angle. But for one of each, with Chris, This Cowboys Hat will move you. With George, I used to sing Love With Out End Amen to my kids when they were babies. They never realized I can't sing AT ALL. 😂✌️
Late 70s I believe... 78ish somewhere round there. That next song that started to play is a good one too. Check it out. Edit Ohhh lol guess you already know that one.
Seem like a nice guy but don’t pause in the middle of verses - particularly not during classic country songs - think of the genre as akin to rap. The lyrics are everything in classic country
True God fearing Patriot who loved his country.
Charlie was a solid American through and through
Charlie is a true patriot who loves his country he sings what he feels hes very talented plays many instruments love this man Rip charlie your missed
❤ Bam!

I went to one of this guys concerts before he died his voice was still perfect
Charlie Daniel's alway's call's it like he see's it.
"UNEASY RIDER" is a great song by Charlie Daniel's band ❤
Having grown up in a ranching area, this is the attitude everyone around me has.
This song came out in the late 80s early 90s back when folks knew between right and wrong, today's issues were prophesied by many.
This man is legend abd honest he's fought in the vestnam war he's been thru a lot hes a great singer and I love Charli he's a real been there done that man he means with he sings bro honest man I love him always will
Oh HANK WILLIAMS JR. song COUNTRY BOY CAN SURVIVE
>>>"He's NOT holding back!">>>
Charlie don't hold back.
He didn't know how, didn't care to learn. But a gentleman, giving freely. Rip Charlie. We all miss you

Hank Williams Jr. "A Country Boy Can Survive" for country.
Check out Waylon Jennings "Outlaw Shit" also "the conversation" with Waylon & Hank Jr.
Idk them so that could be interesting
They are very... More 70/80s era. When shit was good.
Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, George Jones, Hank Williams Jr, Hank Williams Sr, & Merel Haggard
The style here reminds me of the deep south Cajun music from Louisiana .
This song is in the intro part of kid rocks song Podunk.
Ricky Van Shelton has a song called SimpleMan also.
You’ve evidently never heard of Hank Williams Junior!
you would enjoy Charlie Daniels "Legend Of Wooly Swamp"
This is REAL country music!!!!! Check out Country boy can survive by Hank Jr
Gary stewart.. chris ledoux.. kentucky headhunters.. the nitty gritty dirt band.
This song was released in 89. I remember it well. I was an adult with a child. Yes, the song is really old. And now I feel really old. Hahaha.
The 80's, he's got another song called In America that's still relevant today as well.
Modern Country is Snake Dung.
It's been around sentence the early 70s
That would be, Charlie Daniels, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Hank Williams Jr. , etc
Mama tried.... Mearl Haggard.... old country. Fighting side of me also.
Older country music, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams Jr and Sr., George Jones, Dolly Parton, Jimmy Dean,
He's Tottly right people done gone and put there bibles away it's time for god to stay in your heart and mind noone shows god the truth of his love he's gota see it or it won't be no way to heaven
There is a PERFECT country & western song...
..."You Never Even Call Me by My Name", by David Allen Coe.
There are now simple men
Love Charlie try Chris Stapleton TENNESSEE WISKEY or JASON ALDEAN. DIRT ROAD ANETHAM
Waylon Jennings, Hank Williams Jr, David Allan Coe are a few good ‘outlaw country’ singers
Bobby Bare. Skip a Rope , Margie’s at the Lincoln Park Inn and Mari Leboe? Spelling.
His music is considered outlaw country or southern rock

Try Charlie Daniels, The Devil Went Down to Georgia... TRUE country.
I don't think you can go wrong with any thing that Charlie did. Another similar song is Hank Williams Jr. Country Boy Can Survive.
Ricky Van Shelton also recorded a song "Simple Man" but it's different than this one
Charlie Daniels was an anazing man. His big hits were Devil Went Down to Georgia and In America. People love Long-Haired Country Boy, but that one leaves me "meh".

Luke combs - can I get an outlaw. Is new artists going back in time. Another great country artist that’s like this is Eric Church.
If you’re looking for a true country sound the old stuff is the best and then “red dirt” is like the new age old country.
Charlie was so awesome live. I went to see him play 4 times, 4 great concerts. the man and his fiddle were great. You should check out Reflections. It's a tribute song to Janis Joplin, Elvis and Ronnie Van Zant from Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Use the play his records in the bedroom when I was younger. I hate newer country how. Mixing rap with country now it's nothing but shit..

Seem like a nice guy but don’t pause in the middle of verses - particularly not during classic country songs - think of the genre as akin to rap. The lyrics are everything in classic country
This to me is southern rock not so much country!
