probably in my life, if there was one 3 minute song I have literally heard more than any other... it must be this one. i wonder if that one teenage year of playing multiple 162 game seasons in this game... 20 minutes per game, 7 times through this song... the play count is in the thousands easily. Masterpiece.

Actually, it was Chris Jojo who wrote the song. Cannon only worked partially on the title music with Jojo (he was training Jojo how to use the sound engine at Software Creations) and Jojo did pretty much the rest.
Strange as it was, PinkKittyRose led me to this song. One of the custom music packs she uses for her runs through Super Metroid uses this song in Brinstar.
The only thing bad about this song (and this game's soundtrack as a whole) is that it's often mis-attributed to the Follins (or Matthew Cannon). It was actually written by Chris Jojo. This was his first game, and he was being trained by Cannon.

Follin and the other sound staff agreed that the Follins were probably credited for designing the sound engine, as well as the instruments used in their sound engine.
