the traveler = each one of us. the audunm sky = old age or aging. the bones = the reality of death. the tiger = the fear of death. the tree = the body. the vine = the grasping and clinging to the past present and future. the sea = endless rebirth. the dragons = greed hatred jealousy. the drops of honey = the five aggregates.
@@westsidesmitty1 in mahayana this would be like if past and future doesn't exist then so now too doesn't exist Because present depend on the past and future depend on the present. If both doesn't exist than present too doesn't exist.
we're fucked any which way you look at it, can't go back to the past and the only thing certain in our future is death. might as well live in the present moment and enjoy the honey
Thank you for your interpretation of the Parable Krumple. We had a great discussion on this subject after watching. So correct you are. We are the Votaries of the Lotus Sutra and keep on exploring.
Those two mice are the day and the night which always makes our life shorter, honey is the joy in our life which drags our mind beyond the every kind of danger, the dragon and the sea represents obvious death where we can't jump out of its mouth,I think the whole story demonstrates our life. And the traveler is a significant model person in the story which shows us to be like him(forget every things and live your current life joyfully with what you have today).
The white and black mice represent duality. All these almost sum up what Buddha had thought us.The five aggregates, the four noble ways, three poisons and the eight fold path to nirvana. You can google them if you like it.
true, I live everyday as if I have all my life. It is a repetition of life, and the way we cannot foresee our future above our narrow desires and what others predict for ourselves. Nor can we truly learn from our past mistakes because our brain is fixed in certain patterns that will never let us see beyond the spacious present.
+salim hussain the symbols are unimportant, the understanding of ''the truth'' is what is important, and symbols just obfuscate the issues involved, regardless of what the adherents to the symbols think...
Traveler: Represents all humanity. Life is a journey and people are like travelers. Autumn: The loneliness of human life. The traveler is alone on this journey. Even though we have family and friends, Buddha taught that we are each alone. Vast Wilderness: The endless transmigration of our true self White Bones: The death of others, such as family members, friends and relatives. Tiger: Represents Impermanence. Everything must someday die. Running Away: We try to avoid dying by exercising, taking vitamins, pills, and going to a doctor. Pine tree: Things we rely on daily-money, possessions, position, family etc. No matter how many of these we have, they cannot save us from the tiger. Vine: The vine is very thin. Human life is very short. 3 Dragons: Worldly passions: Desire/Greed (blue), Anger (red), and Envy (black). With these three passions, we perform acts that make the next world. Deep Ocean: Represents the world of continuous suffering after death. 2 Mice: White (day) and black (night). Day and night take turns shortening our lives. 5 Drops of honey: Human desires: food, money, sensual, fame, and sleep. From morning to night we are dragged around by these desires.
While Enjoying the wordly pleasure we forget the mortality of life and gets attached to it creating more suffering we should find out the true nature of our existence and ultimate truth which death can't take from us
No persons or animals, including the dragons, were injured in the making of this video...Just as in 'real' life, for in Truth, only Oneness/God/Infinite Self/etc., exists. ''When you become enlightened, all you can do is throw you head back and laugh.''
When you become enlightened, it is hard not to laugh and say to yourself ''how stupid I was'', realizing your delusions is a joyful experience, it feels like being a child once more.
I dont think u really nailed the main points but thanks for the irr voice and incorrect inflections long random pauses were also a real treat but mainly I dont think u understand what ur talking about- Perhaps less production and more study
Vast Wilderness = True nature of reality, being emptiness The autumn sky = Aging, sickness and death. The bones = The inevitability of death. The tiger = Death Running away from tiger = Aversion, fear of death. The tree = The current rebirth. The vine = Attachment, grasping onto external environment. (color, sound, smell, taste, touch, and what the mind takes hold of) The traveler = Sensory Consciousness (Eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, mind) Five drop of honey = Five Aggregates (Form, Feeling, Thought, Volition, Consciousness) The Sea = Ocean of Samsara The Three Dragons = Three poison and also the Three lower realms (Blue = Animal/ Ignorance, Red = Hungry Ghost/ Attachment, Black = Hell/ Hatred) The Black & White mouse = Black and White karma, (virtues merit & negative karma), which also prescribed the lifespan of current life.
These are symbols and therefore are not real human existence. Human existence can only be observed in its reality through your senses. This story wasnt great at all. Traveller travels Sees bones and his instinct is right but he is too late to act upon it as Tiger sees him. Traveller responds by fight or flight mode and chooses the latter. Basically the whole world was against him dragons mice, but how come the bees didnt swarm him when he climbed the branch? where the fck did these mice appear from ? Why were these mice not trying to get some honey instead of a disgusting old vin? lol basically the universe wanted to kill him there was no way out except to maybe fight the tiger and win (Fight mode) Because he damn sure aint going to win against 5 dragons in a rapid ocean. So he should climb back up the vine Throw the mice at the tiger and then grab the beehive and huck it at the tiger which would be a fabulous distraction. Instead Lets just enjoy this honey..... So unrealistic. worst story iv ever heard to try and symbolize the stated point
You want interesting stories that provide wisdom read the Bhagvad Gita of Hindusim. These are some of the oldest known texts in sanskrit depicting a tale that actually makes sense and at the same time enlightens the point at hand beauitifully.
So , what else the trapped traveller could do? Shame on you king, who asked Buddha to stop the story.. The ending of the story might be the traveller will get some high boost energy after eating some honey and jumps to the ground like a kung fu master and kills the Tiger using tiger fists ..come on.. Something hunh

Krumple Themal Ty cause I'm not there yet far from it but trying
+Netlsg The mice represents our karma.
White mouse means day and black mouse means night. One after another they move us to death. That's it.
Thanks for the answers otherwise I am still kept in the dark
The loooooooooooong pauses are truly challenging my Buddha nature...
dude, you just made my day
Need to practice meditating
haha
your buddha nature is no nature so it must be your ego. haha
Enjoy the moment, don't be caught in the past or future :)

Thanks for sharing it !!

Death is not the end but only a transition.
Very fun. The version I heard earlier was a snake in the bottom of the pit, but this gets the points across just as well.
narrated beautifully.
