It's funny because the exodia ability is a condition not an effect.so it can't be negated same as losing with no cards in your deck
You have to be able to draw to lose to deck out, so some weird cards like D Force while a Plasma is on the field or Gearbreed if you have equips in grave can actually protect you from deckout by skipping or altering the nature of your draw phase to stop mill from beating you. Probably unintentional but hilarious.

Exodia is basically a game mechanic. The Head could very well be a normal and it would function the same way. It should be in the rule book lol

not really, can't be sure how many factors need to occur to accomplish this. it could be very easy to brick or the combo itself may require certain cards in hand to get the ftk.

@@PhoenixLive_YT that only accounts for less then half a 40 card deck... so there must be some luck involved unless you have 20 draw cards in the deck as well. t0 decks aren't just really good, they are consistent. and i just can't see how a deck that relies on 2 set's of 3 cards to accomplish it's end state can be considered consistent. and considering all those combo's with obscure archtypes, unless every one has 1 card starters... it would have a pretty high chance of bricking.

Sangans effect cannot stop exodia.
Its imposible to negate Or stop an instant win once the condition is met, Thats why they are Hard to pull off.
Because when its pulled of the duel is done.
When you add the fifth piece of exodia to your hand and declare that you win the duel you are declaring a victory condition. Not activating a monster effect. "Taken from the Yu-Gi-Oh wiki" exodia rules section.

Tbf even if I knew that I would still be in absolute disbelief and hella unwilling. But I personally think turn 1 ftk decks like this are just lame to play and play against. I prefer the back and forth struggle of two stinky and sweaty men.

When Exodia is a Win Con, not an effect. Sangan nor Witch of the Black Forest affect the Win Con.
Like if I activated Prohibition and declared "Exodia the Forbidden One" if they have all 5 pieces, it will still go through.

Yup. I was personally wowed by this combo a few months back. I've never seen such an insane Exodia deck before and I loved it.
If this combo wasn't at least 15 minutes long it doesn't even make up the top 10 of the longest combos I've ever seen

It’s more common but this one was unique
One of those "so bad it's good" combos. People will find the most confusing ways to FTK possible to mask their interruption points. Though most of these still have a bunch since there's rarely room to fit negates into an FTK without crippling its consistency, that's the main excuse for allowing things like this and obnoxious boss monsters to exist. Do I think they shouldn't? Maybe, but seeing people find new ways to steal wins is always amusing, as long as they aren't coming from bots or netdeckers there's not a whole lot of issues with what essentially amounts to literal gamble decks in terms of consistency.

Was expecting that one combo that apparently uses Galaxy Queen's Light with Mecha Phantom Beast Coltwing to raise it's level to like 40+ to then tribute it for DSF for 8k damage tbh.
I feel bad about the people in the comments saying this is the most amazing Exodia FTK they've ever seen. Start playing in Silver and you will be surprised.

In general I love YGO. Well lately I'm more into DL and the Speed format or Goat Format because they still have some interaction left. Games such as this are horrible to me, if these people want to play alone there are thousands of single player games out there 🤣

man , imagine having to wait almost 8 minutes just to die miserably , i miss back in the time when yugioh just had normal/special/fusion/ritual summons and a few opportunities to do these types of summon , nowadays you can cicle through your entire deck and make 30+ summons in just 1 round and win the game without even reaching battle phase

i see a lot of people talk about how long a specific deck's combo is, and yeah, 6sam have infinite loop if they draw into enough counter regenerator but anyone here know about infernity's loop back in the day brioniac is not opt, or at least those lavalal chain combo?

@Dkayed - Duel Meta: the reason why Exodia winning condition still works on the same turn it got search by sangan, Exodia does not activated, because sangan only prevent activation of the card you search for the rest of that turn.

Activate means you choose to use the effect, so sangan doesn't stop exodia's effect since it happens automatically, you don't activate it

Honestly, it's cool to see how crazy people can get with their decks nowadays. But as a casual OG player this just discourages me from trying the game again. They've run away with the game so much that I'm scared to even attempt it. 😔. I also enjoy the competitive nature of card games but absolutely nothing is competitive about high rolling cards in an opening hand that win you the game.

Sometimes you have to admire the level of creativity people have when it comes to winning without dueling, defeating the entire purpose of the game.

In the case of Sangan and Head of exodia, or other automatic effects, Sangan doesn't over rule them, so they still trigger despite Sangan's effect

Yeah, I may be late to this one, but I got some old news for ya, buddy... Exodia isn't an "optional" effect. The effect is *mandatory.* Once a player has all five cards in hand, game over. Ergo, the search by Sangan is still appropriate, as is the loophole to "cannot activate the effect that turn".
I have to admit, though... even I would be fairly proud to lose to that combo, despite not being able to have my first turn.
I would of loved if he had no fkin clue it was exodia till the end that reaction would of been priceless.
i was in a duel the guy banished like 40 cards summoned that one fusionnaturia to negate spells n traps by banishing a card in gy rhen had apollo at 4negates then had sum other link too draw cards it was annoying
