Thank you for your continued reaction and wonderful analysis of this epic cover by Dan. Many see the tears on his face. I see a man who fought through his own severe depression. In the end he can be proud of having conquered it. Dan conveys all his emotions to us with the help of his vocal skills and his presence. Thanks for sharing......
Your reactions & analysis are pure joy for me. I’m so grateful to have found your channel. I’m learning so much from you while getting to watch my very favorite vocalist/performer at the same time! Thank you for sharing your wisdom, experience & knowledge with us. All of these things that I love to hear…. and you tell me why and how it happens. 🎶💙
You were more mesmerized by this performance than any previous reaction to Dan that I have seen you do which is totally what Dan wants from viewers and gets from us. ❤
Oh My God. Brought me to tears. Felt every word. Dan just has such an amazing vocal talent and ability to act out each word. Thank you for sharing and reacting with your amazing musical knowledge. Looking forward to your next reaction to Dan. 💖
Thanks for your reaction to this gorgeous rendition. Definitely one of Dan's most moving performances for sure! I love that you listen to the entire song first and then go back over it with your commentary ❤
I always love his covers. He brings out the emotion when he sing and leaves nothing on the table. A pure artist and a chameleon, for he take every song and makes it his own. I enjoy your analyzes. You should react to his latest "My Heart Will Go On" and see how he spins into metal. Keep up with your reactions , doing a fine job.
Your analyses are so good and true. Dan Vasc is professional enough, as you have already said, that emotions do not distort the voice. The same goes for the song "An American Trilogy" - Elvis covers. Beautifully sad ❤
Yay! Thank you soooo much for doing this! You reacted exactly like I did to my favorite parts. Super fun to watch. And I learned a lot! I'm even more impressed with Dan, lol. Seriously, this is the best example I've heard in years of "soul piercing" sound. I feel that "flames" just wash through me. He made it a heroic moment. After everything he stood his ground and "denied hells flames", refused to give in to despair. I find it emotionally invigorating and in the end uplifting. So glad you enjoyed it!
I have no talent when it comes to music, but you explained everything so well, and what I did understand was so insightful. It makes me more appreciative of musical artist and what it takes to bring forth the quality we enjoy. Thank you for your analysis, and as always dan brings it ❤❤❤
I absolutely love your reactions and analysis of Dan's music! So on the money and ive learned alot about vocal technique from you! Would love to hear your reaction to American Trilogy as well The Last Goodbye. He employs dynamics in these songs that i would love professional analysis of
This is probably my favorite song from Dan and you are my favorite reactor. Thank you for the time and thought you put in to your reactions! I am always so excited when I see you and Dan show up on my notifications! I literally pulled over in a parking lot to watch this when I got the notification (I was out running errands). Haha! You should react to Bring Me To Life next. It’s a totally different feel. You’ll love anything in his catalog though so you can’t go wrong. I would also recommend two that you’ll have to search for since they aren’t on his channel. Thunderstruck with the band Orion’s Reign and Sleeping Sun (which you can find on Karla Bessa’s channel).
Thank you so much for your review of this beautiful song. Dan has used his music to get through things in his life... he is such a marvelous performer... you are right, he does not just sing... he lives his music and makes us feel that... pulls us in... 😢 We love this man and his music... he is so superb at what he does. Thank you again so much for your awesome review of Dan. If this does not touch anyones heart... they don't have a heart.
I can't tell you how much I appreciate your in-depth analysis. We know how much we involve ourselves in everything Dan sings. You explain how he gets us there. You are a joy!
This is a song to give you shivers, no matter if Dan or Fabio Lione singing it. The original had a very similar intro, possibly a recorder. Manuel Starapoli, the brother of Alex, Rhapsody's keyboard player, played that instrument for classical orchestras and baroque ensembles. He pops up in many of Rhapsody's songs. Daniel, the song is part of an extended cycle that tells a high fantasy epic over several albums. It has two different characters, the angel and Dargor, that is dying. That's why the constriction, the halting breaths. It's the song of a character that would presumably have died in the wilderness without the intervention. P.s. That time Dan went with the bright, closed E instead of the dark, open O comes at a pivotal moment of the song, when Dargor takes the help of the angel and starts affirming his change of mind and direction in his life. A bright sound fits better.
Thank you, Luis, for all your explanations! Since I'm not familiar with the story behind the song, I really appreciate the insights you've shared. Obrigada.
@@Lydelith De nada, Lydelith. I like to leave these little blurbs for the ones Dan brings to Rhapsody, Angra and Manowar for the first time. Hey Daniel;) Dan's interpretations are powerful, full of strength, passion and feelings. He sings with his voice and heart and puts his soul into every note 🎶. And his vibrato is wonderful and used at the right moments. I always look forward to your reactions and analyses of Dan, they are excellent, thank you for that and see you next time;)
Beautiful song & analysis both. There's another song he does that pulls at my heartstrings, & i hope you cover it so i can grasp the technical reasons why. It's called Open Arms.
Não gosto de ver o Dan chorar, me dá vontade de abraca- lo forte e protegê-lo de toda dor! Ele é um cantor fantástico! Obrigado por seu apoio ao nosso Dan e abraços do Brasil!👍🇧🇷
Dan is a master of showing emotion in his songs and this song is a perfect example of his talent. I’ve said this many times, he simply captivates you. Watching him sing is as enjoyable as listening to him. Many thanks for your reaction to this one!
Dan had a couple of years where he Wass having depression very bad. This song to me is his feeling at the start of those years. then he got help and came through it. So thankful he found his way to go on. Love your reactions.
Before Dan, the only important singer I ever heard and saw who could cry and sing at the same time was Beverly Sills. This is not the only time you will see tears from Dan. American Trilogy, recorded just days after his father's death, is one. Despite some remarks here, Son of Pain was not recorded shortly after his father's death, and I find the suggestion about being reminded of overcoming depression quite compelling - but who knows? Dan is an artist. BTW, the original singer of this was Fabio Leone, one of Dan's idols, and he's deliberately using some of Fabio's vocal techniques here, which he often does when he covers singers he admires. I hope you will get to share in Dan's joy when he and his band Fearless hosted Fabio in person about two years ago: Dawn of Victory. It's terrific. Thanks for another thoughtful and detailed analysis. It's always interesting to hear your take.
One of the most intelligent analyses - kudos. I found your comments about handling emotion while performing fascinating. I know that if i start to cry while performing my throat instantly closes up, making things difficult. I am retired now but if i were still performing i would try out some if your ideas.
Daniel, don't let the emotional charge of this song put you off doing Dawn of Victory with Dan and Fabio, the original singer. Rhapsody was a band that could do many things. No spoilers 😁😁🤘
Loved your analysis. Very informative & entertaining as always. Still waiting for "Bring Me To Life". And still hoping you'll check out 80s & 90s hair bands, metal & rock. I think you'd have fun listening to & analyzing these groups! Scorpions, Whitesnake, KISS, Steelheart, Motley Crue, Iron Maiden, Aerosmith, Black Sabbath, Dio, Ozzy Osborne just to suggest a few!!!
Thanks for another great reaction and analysis. There is never a coincidence in Dan's choice of vocal techniques in his performances, they all have a deeper meaning. I have dealt with depression in my family so can appreciate what Dan was dealing with n how this song brought out his emotions. My "Dan" Playlists have gotten so long, they carry me thru day n night. Thanks for your reaction. Dan has said that one can't help but feel emotion when singing certain songs and that this emotion can be used in performing. I don't think he is standing by and just observing. Just saying.
I’ve seen Dan talk about that as well. I’m sure he could control/hide his emotion from the camera but I think it was his intention to show it, even if it goes against professional rules of performance. His vision for video is his vision, and I love it! 🎶🎼♥️
I respectfully disagree with you about watching your art from that 3rd party perspective. The most beautiful art engulfs the performer, I will give Je Suis Malade By Lara Fabian. It’s so noticeable hearing extra breaths because Dan is known for only breathing about once every half hour or so…😂😂😂 great reaction!
In that Black Wind, Fire and Steel finale he is matching one of the ten longest notes ever sung!

Dan was suffering from depression when he sang this piece. He was really feeling the emotion.
I heard it was about overcoming his depression, so it wasn’t necessarily sad tears.
This is such an emotionally powerful rendition. Thanks for the on-point analysis!
