I think the first one to buy depends on what you enjoy doing in game. If you really want a cat or dog, then get Cats and Dogs, but don't get my first pet stuff. Ever. lol If you are intrigued by farm life, then get Cottage Living. If all you do is want to play in the snow, then Seasons, unless you want to ski, then Snowy Escape. If apartments are your thing, then City Living or Eco Lifestyle. I think all the packs have something to offer even though I complain as much as anybody that they seem lacking (because they do compared to previous versions of the sims.) I've got to say though, if you buy Seasons you may get to the point where the constant crazy surprise holidays (Neighborhood Brawl anybody?) make you want to scream. Luckily there is a mod for that. Something else to consider when picking packs to buy, some packs (EP, GP, SP, kits) can work really well together, while others don't really seem to go with anything else. Eco Lifestyle and Werewolves have some BB objects that will work well with City Living to make a dump of an apartment. Tiny Living furniture, while in good shape, comes across as apartment sized, even though they fill the same tiles as furniture from the rest of the game. I happen to think that Seasons goes really well with Cottage Living. All that snow goes well with the English village feel of Henford-on-Bagley. I'm hoping that we'll be able to put horses in worlds other than the one that comes with Horse Ranch because that goes well with Cottage Living too. However, I hope the horses don't just show up being ridden all over the place . Can't you just see Nancy Landgraab riding a horse through the middle of the romance festival? 🤣
I'm an OG player. I got the Get to Work first, and I was amazed we could finally get to go to work with them. Then I got City Living, then Get Famous. I think those are core for base game. I got seasons way later because I am from Miami and used to it being one season all year long, so it didn't matter to me. 😂
As a person who has lived in California the past 7-8 years and doesn’t miss waking up to blizzards and having to dig my car out, I feel this! Let my Sims have nice mid weather all year round for now. Eventually I might want seasons.
@@whydoimevenhereCertain parts of america closer to the ocean or coasts are very hot and tropical almost so they barely get cold and almost never get snow. Most southern states
Omg I live in orlando and said the same exact thing lmaoooo I don’t have city living but I’m gonna buy it now because of you. OG to OG does city living give you a “The Urbz” vibe ?
YES!! I think telling anyone to buy seasons when it’s their first pack is bad advice. City Living is my top fav but I think whatever someone chooses should fit their play style & location preference.
Exactly! My opinion of course and i tried to my my reasoning funny but informative. yeah, I love city living! my fav pack for sure. I also like parenthood and get famous.
i unfortunately fell victim to the “buy seasons first” trap. and while i don’t regret it, weather can be annoying especially if you live in brindleton bay, my sims never get a moment of peace😭 after that i bought university and get famous! i realized just how much i love giving my sims something to work towards! though all the sims 4 packs are lacking compared to previous games i do think each one is good for a different playstyle.
I completely agree!! Sims 4 is my favorite so far. I've played Sims 2 and 3 and I love them but Sims 4 is perfect for my play style. I do understand, and agree, Sims 4 is lacking in a lot of places but I enjoy it the most.
@@danitho i agree with you! the sims 4 is my favorite too. to be fair i never played previous games for myself but from watching lps they seem a bit overwhelming😭 i just love how relaxing and funny sims 4 gameplay is!
i' m always using UI cheats to switch up the weather. rain can be hella annoying haha. omg. discover university is the hardest pack ever! when my sims graduate from Uni, I seriously feel like I graduated too. it's a great achievement. haha.
Somebody who's not a hater, my goodness!! I've been playing sims all my life since my mom bought Sims Megaluxe. I have all the Sims 2 packs and some of Sims 3 (I stopped playing after a while because of a malfunction or something, never played beyond the second expansion pack) and most of sims 4 (except first pet, weddings and the last EP). I can tell you, even if they're lacking, I enjoy them a lot!! :D Is fun, cute, I love the sims design (they're so pretty!!) and yes, I miss more interactions with the world they're living in, but I genuinly enjoy it!! ^^
i need to revisit get together. one of the expansion packs I haven't explored in its entirety. I got it because I thought the DJ skill was a career. would have been perfect for city living and get famous.
City Living was the first EP I bought when I finally got into Sims 4 years ago after a long break from The Sims. I really wanted my sim to live in an apartment, sing karaoke, go to Geekcon and paint murals. No regrets. Still one of my favourite EPs.
Ooh, I think that Tiny Living gives you maybe the most bang for your buck TBH. Those tiny house perks are so OP. Of course, in order to make better use of space to build your tiny houses it helps to have either University or Snowy Escape for the single tile showers. (Or, you could just get a free mod that has one... lol)
omg! i love tiny house. i love all the build/buy. i love being able to use that pack when i'm in need of adding stuff in space spaces. also -- death by murphy bed is a bizarre death.
my first pack was Cottage living, then I bought Horse Ranch. Now I'll buy season because I mainly play in Henford and I think that weather is important to give a realistic british atmosphere to the world.
first packs i bought were city living and university, because i wanted the apartments and the generational gameplay that comes with university. i think you should buy the packs you’re most excited about and then get seasons when you can
Seasons is definitely one of thise things I rarely think about when gaming. I also love Get Together. I use that pack soooo much. I also use Get to Work quite a bit too. Seasons definitely wasn't one of my first packs. I think Get to Work was. I also love City Living and Get Famous. Also, love the further development of your studio space. Got the Sims/Villian vibes back there. Love it.
I first got Cats and Dogs then when the vet career got boring i decided to spice up my game with city living THENNNN I got seasons and I honestly really recommend city living as it really made my game interesting for a while and even to this day
That's true but in my opinion, you're going to get way more bang for the buck with any of the packs I mentioned vs seasons. Especially if you only have a budget to get ONE game and all you got is base game. my opinion of course.
When I was 14, during 2017 the 2 packs that I had for a loooooong time was windenburg and city living. They were amaizng packs and I still dont know everything about them. I took a break from the sims for bit until 2020. It took some getting used to bc there were SOOOOO many packs I hadn't got yet but I chose to get vampires bc I liked them since twilight came out. Then I kinda moved on for a bit to focus on my lpstube stuff again. Then in 2022 I got back into it and I havent put it down except for when I needed my computer to be fixed and I upgraded to a diffrent one and that was a few months. I loved animals and so I did get that in 2023, but I loved fairytales and stuff like that so progressivly I got the magic game pack and overtime got more and more packs. Honestly I do enjoy the sims and working on the story that has been like 2 years in the making. Only by the grace of God I was able to get it done. I've been through alot of stuff and like my comfot game is the sims, well my first sorce comes from my faith from God bc I am a Christian, but then later down the line definitly the sims and my friends have have helped me out as well. Im thinking about mabey making sims 4 videos but time will only tell. Anyways I've been a simmer since I was 14 and I will soon be 21 in April. God willing, I'll be able to continue. Romans 9:19-24
Sims have been my form of relaxing and therapy. City living is definitely my favorite pack!! Make sure you let me know when you start making sims 4 content!! I’ll be the first to subscribe!
@@Nardvillain Awee well thanks man 😁! I need to get my voice acting intro done but I've been procrastinating, but after that I might get the courage to post a sims 4 video😎👍. Thanks for your kind words. Your videos make me and many others smile! Dag Dag👁👁
I got seasons because I wanted Clement Frost as the first-generation legacy dad. Dog and Cats pack was the first (I'm a crazy cat lady) Got several mods for it that work great, next was cottage living mostly for the build stuff.
I agree. I bought City Living first, then Eco Lifestyle, then Cats and Dogs, and then Seasons. Granted, I am primarily a builder, so seasons didn’t offer that much to me, but still, a lot of other packs have far more gameplay.
What are some of your favorite packs to build with? I don't build at all but when I do -- I love items from the base game, Moschino, spa day, eco lifestyle, dream home and snowy escape.
@@Nardvillain I dont have all packs, but i would say City living is my top favorite solely for apartments, then dream home decorator is a must for the kitchen sets, beds and sectional sofas, and if I’m building community lots, I need get together and dine out since the base game community lot types aren’t that useful and dine out adds restaurants, get together adds cafés, a dancing skill for nightclubs, more items for public pools, as well as more community lot items in general. Although if I’m playing with dine out, I’m using Carl’s dine out reloaded mod. The pack definitely isn’t worth buying on console.
However, that was more of what I NEED to build with. My favorite packs to build with are probably eco lifestyle, dream home, tiny living, Moschino, and island living.
I got the island living pack first, I would say, but it was a bundle disc because I use an Xbox to play Sims 4 but also I got get to work on the bundle so I don't really know if I bought it, but the first one I actually bought was seasons because of it always being high ranked when TH-camrs rate it but it got a bit boring fast, so I got snowy escape and boy did it make seasons feel more worth it although, I kinda agree when people say seasons should be the first pack to get because for some people they might like it to feel more realistic with their LetsPlays and what way would be better than having holidays, people will argue, but everybody has their own opinions.
I think with as many packs as Sims 4 has at this point, Seasons getting rated as high as it does still astounds me when everyone says the holidays get annoying. I have seasons in my Sims 2 game and Sims 3 game (yes I still play both). I am fine with static weather right now in Sims 4. If I get snowy escape and island living. I can visit snow and visit the beach, done. Didn't know City Living came with Festivals, just climbed up my maybe list. I really want eco lifestyle. Many elements of it look cool. Honestly, except for the limited worlds (my newcrest is still blank 😂) I don't actually feel that pressed to get any packs yet. I got plenty going on with the now five familes I manage. Growing Together and Parenthood are high on my list, but wanna see what base game child care looks like without either of those packs first. At least up until my 4 infants turning into toddlers.
In my opinion, get at least one or two that you think you will really enjoy and then get seasons so you can get the additional features like weather, CAS, seasonal gameplay like winterfest and new years activities. You are welcome :)
i think it just depends on what you play the sims for... i like seasons the best because i love nothing more than living through all the seasons and different holidays... brings me so much joy for some reason :D decorating and everything, idk
Hi, I just bought the seasons pack but unfortunately I cant seem to play with the snow or my sims house or city does not even covered by the snow. it just snow pouring out, nothing else. is it the same to you or its just me? or is there only specific city that will covered in snow everytime its snow season?
Cool Kitchens, Get to Work, and the Halloween pack. We started at the beginning. I recommend Country Living. It's my favorite because I enjoy the farming, gardening and the English cottage look.
City living for me. Being from NYC... apartments are my favorite place to live, build, and upload to the gallery. So definitely city living! And I love the festivals! So it was a no brainer for me. Back in Sims 2 (my favorite installment), Apartment life was my FAVORITE pack and sims 3 apartments did not compare and give the same feeling. Sims 4 city living is more in line with sims 2 style apartments tho! So i live for it!
@@Nardvillain In Sims 2 Apartment Life you rented apartments....it unlocked the ability to walk to community lots instead of using a car or taxis. Came with a big neighborhood called Belladonna Cove. Also, you could get a roommate to help pay your bills. Couldn't control them, but you could see their needs and make sure objects were around that could meet them. They'd leave after a while if dissatisfied. And you could build apartments with up to four functional units FROM SCRATCH and put them in any neighborhood. All it required was a simple cheat code; no mods. I'd love to have that ability in Sims 4.
@@shem_gem seeeee that's awesome! being able to build apartments from scratch adn have them be functional. so weird that they didn't keep that going in the other games. maybe it was too much coding or something. could have been worth it tho. maybe they'll reintroduce it to sims 5. who knows.
I think seasons will artificially add depth to ur game which will have you thinking all the mechanics are as deep as the seasons features are. (Spoiler they arent) i had more fun with seasons when I had exausted base game and get together and i took a break this made playing seasons to be a great experience bexause all the features wete new as i remebered the game. When ghey eventually exaust seasons or disover cc or whatever youll be more cotent if you wait a bit and will play ts4 longer
Seasons do add some value to the game for sure. It's just hard for me to tell someone that if they have the base game, they should get seasons next. i think it all depends on the type of player.
I didnt buy Sims 4 until I knew Seasons were coming, and my first DLC was Cats & Dogs and City Living bought on sale in the lead-up to Seasons. But Seasons were always a must for me. It was my first DLC for Sims 3 and Sims 3. I encourage everyone else to watch reviews, check out the gameplay, world, and assets, and just compare that to what they care about and want. And buy on sale!
I love this -- also -- in additional to that, I'd figure out what type of person you are because some of the packs that are top tier rated by not be for you. Even tho I love city life and get famous, some people might not be into city living or celebrity stuff but more into farming and raising livestock. Love this! Thanks for commenting. This is very helpful as well.
Mine was the island living , and I kinda regret it , it was definitely a different scene but just not enough game play for my liking. But your preferences definitely help out ! Been debating back and fourth between get famous and city living , and you definitely helped me choose so thank youu! Hope you have a great day!
I did get seasons - the game just didn’t feel right without weather. Although now I’m getting really tired of all the rain and snow! I love beekeeping and all things honey. I think I am the type of player that SHOULD get seasons in the beginning. If you are not into gardening and beekeeping, etc., it will probably bore you. Know what we agree on? City Living! That ep added so much fun to my game! The first time I went to the Spice Festival I was giddy. I don’t often have my sims live in San Myshuno, but they travel there often. I live on the outskirts of a major city - it’s so nostalgic for me to head into the city for an excursion in the sims. It doesn’t get old.
Omg, yes! I have been saying this since Seasons dropped and became the favorite pack of the majority of the online community. In so many of the sims groups I’m in, if the question, “what pack should I get” is asked, Seasons was always automatically parroted back and I would get roasted for saying every single thing you said. 😂 I don’t even play with it in my game all the time because it’s annoying. I truthfully agree with you that it could have been a base game update, mainly because they updated the clothing categories in CAS. Why does base game need hot weather and cold weather with no weather systems? I kind of think there may have been plans to implement weather into the base game and then some higher up was like, “no! Do this instead.” At the very least, this 100% could have been a game pack instead of an expansion pack. For me, it was so underwhelming compared to other expansions. If you like seasons, then that’s great. Enjoy it! But it’s not the best pack for everyone.
right!? I felt like we were trained to like it because the majority like it. i felt the same about journey batuu. i thought it was "okay" but when I got on social to see what people. were saying, it was overwhelming because all the responses were hate towards it. lol
for me, i put seasons on one spot because what's the point of having sweaters and coats if there is no type of weather. you're wearing a hot clothing on a very sunny nice day everyday. to me, it looks weird. edit: wherever sims comes out with dlcs, i buy them.
so true. you do need seasons for sure at some point. just a bummer weather wasn't included in the base game. it is weird knowing your sims are in winter but there's no true climate change lol.
I cannot stress this enough: *BUY BUNDLES* bundles give you 3 packs for a price just a little higher than the cost of 1 expansion pack and it's such a good investment
Yaaay you are on instant gaming! It is great! I wholeheartedly agree that seasons should have been a base game update. Same with lovestruck and a bunch of other packs. I think Life & Death is the best pack they ever made. Finally a true Maxis quality pack with no EA sabotage detected. Totally agree about Eco lifestyle! I find Eco Lifestyle & Get Together to be the most underrated packs of Sims 4. I think the community should rally around buying Spa Day. Fabulous pack AND it got an amazing pack refresh! We want to ENCOURAGE The Sims team to do MORE pack refreshes. After L&D we don't need new content. We just need pack refreshes of all the stuff we already have. So maybe we should collectively tell people to buy Spa Day instead? And it's a game pack so less expensive anyway. :)
OMG i love spa. top tier expansion pack. it was a favorite before the refresh too. as a content creator, I have enough DLC to continue providing fun videos. If i'm being honest, i was hoping they released the kits a little later and not immediately after the EP. but thats probably an EA thing and not a sims team thing.
City Living was my first pack, and man I love it. I love the different feel of the apartment and all the festivals that are going on. Then Get to Work, and Cats and Dogs, because I love active careers and having pets in the house. Finally picked up Seasons in a bundle, and even though I can see the appeal and it definitely does add to my gameplay, I agree that it feels like it could’ve just been a base game update.
I have eco living and love it. I also bought season's after a friend said how great it was. It's okay. But I do find the festivals annoying and sometimes the seasons themselves. Eco is much more fun. 5:51 I think my first pack was Eco and some smaller ones like the knitting one and laundry day. I got seasons later.
I absolutely agree. Seasons is good, but it's absolutely not what I would pick or reccommend as the first. I've tried disabling packs and playing with only one at a time. City Living was by far my favorite, then Cats and Dogs, then Jungle Adventure. Seasons makes the game a bit more fun, but when you only have two and a half worlds to play in, having a new world is more expansive to gameplay. Later on, Seasons is great.
I got Seasons after awhile but my Top 5 are, in no specific order: Get Together (because of the town), Cats & Dogs, City Living, University & Cottage Living. I think my first one was University back then. I also like the High School one but some EPs seem a bit similar to me. Grow Together, if that's the English name, isn't really my thing but the Horse one I might check out sometime.
I see it as fair to maybe get a pack that provides more gameplay as your first, perhaps. More bang for your buck and all that. However, seasons is one of those packs you get, and it just automatically changes your gameplay. It makes existing in Spring dangerous, because of the lightning storms, which is also why Summer can be fatal as well. A lot of the seasons' gameplay isn't blatantly reliant on you interacting with a specific world, or a specific thing in general. It's a pack that you can just let chill and it will just be working in the background, in every world. In that regard I think it should be the first or second pack someone gets, if it suits their game styles. Because at the end of the day, we all want something a little different from the rest of the community. We're not Clones, we aren't going to be doing identical things. So maybe someone wants to be forced to interact (Jungle Adventures is useless if you're not a builder or don't enjoy spending 100% of your time on a vacation in the vacation world), rather than just doing your own thing while your pack is autonomously working as you play. Edit: Forgot to add this - I had gotten Batuu first, because I am a Star Wars (Episode 4, 5, 6) fan and a Star Trek fan; plus, EA will never do right by Skin (Native/Indigenous) and give us a pack that isn't excessively racist, so, Star Wars it was.
When I bought the base game, my first expansion pack was pets, then I bought seasons but on a big discount. But I agree it might be a little over priced
nice! so you know what it's like to get a few packs prior to buying seaons. at least with outdoor retreat, it gave you a new world. outdoor retreat isn't my fav but I do like being able to renovate that whole. world with ponds and lakes.
i believe my first one was get to work, then city living and others along the way. i thought the exact same about city living or get famous being way better first choices coming straight from base game!
My first DLCs are Vampires and Realm of Magic and Paranormal. I'm an occult sim player so it fits my playstyle. I also added snowy escape since I'm used to Japanese architecture(being half Japanese who had lived in Japan). Thanks for the review. I might consider seasons next time.
I personally think that sims 4’s most amazing pack that comes with the most gameplay is realm of magic. It comes with a huge world including the magic realm, with spellcasters, familiars, whole lots of stuff. You can fly on brooms, brew potions, casts spells, the pack is so great and if you’re looking to start off with LOADS of gameplay, The Realm Of Magic is amazing for that. Now if you’re looking for something to start off with a little big amount of gameplay, I personally think that cats and dogs is amazing as well. It comes with everything that was expected from it. Lots of packs in the sims 4 come out and are not at all like they were expected. But Cats and Dogs comes with cats and dogs, a vet, and a new world. You can also create your own vet clinic. I started off in sims 4 with the cats and dogs pack I’m pretty sure. If not, I started with vampires.
Interesting take. I favor Sims 2 and even Sims 1, and I didn't get Sims 4 until I could get Cottage Living so that I could have rabbits. I got base game plus this one expansion as a package deal so I've actually never played base game only in Sims 4. Seasons was the first pack I added, because I wanted the expanded gardening (adding in the flower bunny did not hurt, of course). But, well, there is so much DLC that I'm never going to own all of it (very unlike 1 and 2), so having to be picky about what I buy is excruciating. I tend to take advantage of the build your own bundle deal, so I don't always wait around for a sale (since as far as I can tell, it's always an option). And I play a little oddly compared to most simmers, it sounds like, so I have an eclectic arrangement. I think my advice is honestly just to do a little research, watch some reviews, and pick out what you think you personally will enjoy playing with. I'm one of the few people who have paid for and enjoy My First Pet Stuff. Why? Because I like having a giant hamster chair! I also get to tell my friends that my alien hamster just built and set off a nuclear device in the kid's bedroom, which was completely worth it to see their reactions. And one of these days, I will get my hands on the Star Wars pack, because I need to get a little sim lightsaber and bring home a robot to park next to the rabbit home stump. I don't really care that other people don't approve of the packs I own. I'm having fun the way I want, which is loads better than playing the way other people play and then complaining that there aren't enough cute fluffy bunnies.
I dont the money to buy a bunch of packs and I'm a pretty casual player so I don't mind just having base game and seasons. I just turn off thunderstorms and I'm happy with the rest of the pack. The three worlds are good for me and besides, cc and mods give me plenty of variety. Should it be an expansion? No. Absolutely not. But if I have to choose one pack? Its seasons for me, i just appreciate the weather changes too much for some reason
I've been wondering why everyone thinks seasons is so essential! I bought it because of the hype but I don't get it tbh, maybe because I live in tropical Australia where it's basically summer all year long so I'm not used to seasons being something I take notice of, but I feel like the hot and cold weather aspects just make it annoying how it adds extra needs, but 100% depends what you prefer in game play, for me Cats & Dogs is essential because I love animals so much, but cottage living is my favourite!
I'm an old timer. It took me time to get most of the EP, GP, SP & kits. I'm still missing some. For EP, I'd go for Cottage Living, Eco Lifestyle & Cats & Dogs in terms of how much all these can be used in the whole game. For GP, it really depends on what people like. I'd go Werewolves, Parenthood, Dream home decorator. As for SP Spooky stuff , Tiny living & Nifty knitting.
The first pack I got was Get to Work because I wanted to be able to build retail store, then I got Dine out to build restaurants, I also got cool kitchen stuff pack to add ice cream to the restaurants, Then I got Adventure pack and Magical Realms, i guess i just bought them because they sounded cool. I also bought the movie Stuff pack so I could add theatre stuff to my buildings. My plan is to be able to build every lot type in the game, because i'm more of a builder. The packs that I think i'm missing for this are Tiny House Stuff pack for tiny house lot type, Paranormal Stuff Pack for Haunted residential house, City Living for apartments, Get Together for cafes, but i'm probably missing some. The only reason I haven't got Seasons yet is because i wanted to wait until i got more worlds, though i do plan on using items from season in some of my retail stores I made.
The reason I want to get this pack so much is that having the same day every day kinda breaks the immersion for me. I am no hyper realist but having time pass impact the life of my sim, even passively like environmental changes sells this pack for me. Getting holidays and to have a reason for my sims to change outfits is gonna add so much to my fun you have no idea. Especially that I seem to like gardening. Though I might have been getting it secondly if I was going to get only one. I am thinking of getting seasons, city living and cottage living together. I will probably pick up cats&dogs, high school years or discover university (haven’t decided on which) and game packs like parenthood, vampires and werewolves later down the line. Though I am debating if I should get get to work as I would love to play my sims career but it doesn’t have good reviews so I am skeptical
I bought my first three packs at once: Get to Work, Cats and Dogs, and Vampires. I don't own Seasons, and never will, because I don't like how it's completely out of your control and unavoidable. With most other packs the content is optional and just here if you want it, but the changing of the seasons and weather isn't optional if you have the Seasons pack. That's my thoughts at least.
I bought a few packs at the same time when I started playing. Pretty sure they were on sale. I know Vampires was one of them. Probably Cottage Living (because the English countryside is my jam). I suspect Seasons was too because I love fall and rain IRL. I love great atmosphere so I think that’s why I’m particularly drawn to seasons, Henford and Forgotten Hollow. And in case it wasn’t obvious, I came late to the Sims game so I had a ton of options to choose from. For all of its flaws/bugs, I just love this game.
At first I thought you were crazy, but I understand now. I think for my gameplay/my main sim anyways, my top 3 packs are vampires, city living and get together. Love playing as a vamp, enjoy the festivals and environment, and love my writing club! Though get famous and get to work follow close behind, even if the scientist career is still broken...
Hahah well I just might be a little crazy tho. So there’s some truth in that statement 👹 but I live knowing that there are others that like city living!
I agree with you. But I bought seasons as my 3rd expac and I’m completely underwhelmed. I haven’t got city living or get famous. I was deciding between get famous and cottage living and I’m glad I got cottage living. It’s the pac I’m enjoying the most.
Cottage Living is a great pack, but it's not for me. In fact, now that I think about it, I'd suggest that one over Get Famous, mainly due to its functionality and the amount of gameplay it offers. I do acknowledge that Get Famous has more cross-pack compatibility, but sometimes it's not all about that.
I got the game back in 2014 but Discover University was my first pack. I got Island Living next and it is still my favourite pack and should have been my first. I held off getting Seasons for so long because I didn't know you could turn off temperature effects on Sims and I didn't want my Sims dying from the cold or heat, but once I found out you could I got it because I really wanted snow and ice skating. If Snowy Escape was out before I got Seasons I probably still would not have Seasons and wouldn't know what I was missing.
great choices. i wish they gave mermaids and aliens more love when it comes to the perk system. The perk system for vampires, spellcasters and werewolves are spot on!! i wish they did this with parenthood as well.
I have parenthood and growing together, I plan on buying get to work, city living, and get famous, then I’ll be good. I’m a family gameplay type simmer, but I also like story telling through my sims. So I think the packs I want will help me have more depth in my stories idk. Oh I want the new rental pack too! I don’t remember what it’s called lol
I adore Seasons and i knew it was my must buy but big bro i already had a few expansions already before i got seasons so i hope im safe from ur wrath lol... i have this thing where certain packs suit others like Seasons.... Paranormal Vampires.... Magic Spooky pack.. and yes cats an dogs... thats just how i feel... call me strange but to me they go so well together if you have a vision in ur eyes on what you wanna create
GREAT choice lil bro! yeah, i think a lot of people who started out before seasons was released didn't have much of a choice but I for me, I feel like you're missing out if you end up getting Seasons as your first pack. Not strange at all!
I trust you, but why didn’t you tell me this is 2018. 😂 I agree, it should have been a base game update. I bought it expecting The Sims 2 seasons (I didn’t play 3) 😢
I think my first DLC I bought was Get to Work. Back then, it was a lot more enticing to play nowawdays, I rarely use the careers from that pack cause my top game styles are getting rich with the best career salaries (rags to riches) and legacy family play. Seasons is highly overvalued. It brings a lot to the table but I can’t lie, I’d be perfectly fine if it was sunny all the time and my sims weren’t overheating cause it’s summertime 😂
My first expansion was vampires because I loved them in Sims 3 and I played with just base game and vampires for several months before branching out on other packs when they were on sale.
I just started paranormal stuff pack gameplay and OMG THE WAY I SLEPT ON IT. With the haunted residential? Cassandra Goth finna save the family 😤 Why didn’t it have more-the seances? I just love it. Get famous and get to work are and get together are NEEDED. In my humble opinion.
I litterally got sims 4 at rarest time it because in epic games for some reason sim 4 was free for epic games and i had 3 hours to buy it and i never regret playing the game honestly this happened 2 or 3 years ago
My first pack was technically cats, and dogs back when it first came out, but then the computer my brother and I played on got a terrible virus and we had to throw it out . A couple years down the line I got back into it on my Xbox and I got cottage living .So basically depending on the account I have two first packs. Now I obviously have a job and can afford more packs lol and have upgraded from console to laptop
Hey Lil bro 🙌🏽City living and Get to work always have been my favorite. I love season but it should have been part of the base game season was my first pack.
My first Sims 4 Expansion pack was Get to Work and I also got Outdoor Retreat, Cook Kitchen and Kids Room stuff packs at the same time, all but Outdoor were half off too
@Nardvillain oh yeah, especially since i got all the other expansions, and Get Famous and several game packs before I got Seasons, so lots of worlds to play 😄
@@Nardvillain yea I’m the end the main thing I love is the windows, doors, the acutal seasons and the items, that’s pretty Ju but, but I think they could’ve added countertops and ect
The first pack I bought was cats and dogs, but in truth, I wish I started with City Living. It's by far my favourite pack and I waited too long to get it
My first pack was the free holiday celebration. For bought dlc the first ever of each type was Game pack was Realm of Magic Stuff Pack was Vintage Glamour Expansion Pack Island Living Kit was the first three ever Bust the dust, country kitchen, throwback fit kit.
But if you don't have seasons how can you freeze sims to death with a winter pool party? Hmm, hmm? None of those other packs offer that. Seriously though, none of the expanded packs should be purchases full price, but I agree Get to Work and City Living should be the first packs, even though I do love have seasons.
Wow, you honestly sorta changed my mind! However, if you don't care about adding new game play opportunities and would rather add to your current game play, go for seasons
I didnt even realize the calander was free now. Imo thats the packs main feature outside of the aestheticnchanges ofnthe seasons and the ac featuee ruining public lots lol
I've been playing sims for almost 14 years I think and I bought my first expansion pack last week 😅, now I have island living and cats and dogs, I've been dreaming about creating mermaids in the sims so it was kinda dream come true for me, for the second one I thought it'll be fun to have pets and now I created my two dogs I have irl and I'm obsessed with them they're so cute😊
I feel like everyone says to get Seasons first because it's the dlc that feels like it should already be in the base game by a lot compared to other dlc.
yeah it should definitely be part of base game but I see how they probably wanted to seperate the calendar features and holidays as an add on but just doesn't make sense.
First packs I bought were vampires, spooky stuff/paranormal, and wizards and those were the main ones I really wanted. I bought seasons later and I wanted snowy escape but I missed the deal. Snowy escape and university were the next ones I was looking at.
I haven’t got Seasons yet but it sounds like the weather works a lot like how mine does irl - it does whatever with 0 warning 😂 if it is like that then I’m not missing it I like having the “movie weather” personally, since I don’t usually irl lol
Although I did buy the preorder, got the Outdoors but idk what happened it was a few years, Origin switched to EA and now I don’t have Outdoors but my save files are there that use the items, but I did recently get Cats & Dogs as the first official one I purchased
@@Nardvillain Expantion pack. I always wanted to have a dog irl, so this was an obvious choice for me. Also the world is pretty and it has some nice cas items, so yeah, I don't regert buying it as my 1st pack. Buying the stuff pack as my 1st wouldn't make sense since it's a DLC for a DLC.
Lmao, that flashback at the beginning 😆🤣🤣🤣 I clicked on this like “not too much on Seasons” 👀☺️🌸 but these are really good points. I think I initially bought the seasons for the calendar 😬 the weather is the only good thing about that pack really
Thank you, I haven’t bought a bigger pack yet & seasons sounds kinda boring tbh but it’s most peoples’ #1. I’m probably going to do the get famous or city living first 💖
Definitely add it to your list for sure because it doesn't add elements to gameplay. it just depends on how you like to play the game. Happy simming! dag dag
Wild move, but I first bought Strangerville because that’s my type of jam irl, a weirdo desert town. Once I saw sims could get uncomfortable in the rain, it was an immediate no from me on Seasons. I know it’s realistic, but nobody has time for that lol
when it comes to lag, i can't tell because what lags my game is when we get base game updates. after a week or so -- my game is back to normal and it also depends on the save file. I think I had the worst lag with werewolves, my wedding stories and my high school years.
I think that the efficiency in the first packs is not provided at the moment. New expansion packs what I mean that from high school years to horse ranch, they are totally recycled content.
I first got cottage living bc I love cows and wanted to have my own farm I’m thinking about either getting seasons of snow escape next but I have built up my packs
if you get snowy escape, at least you know you'll have snow up in the mountains. I think seasons as a third pack after getting a few others that have worlds is ideal. both are good choices.
The first one I bought was cottage living And then I bought them in groups on steam Until I had them all Now I'm waiting for Horse ranch But yes I agree that Seasons shouldn't be the first 1 you buy It is a great path though I'm a pet lover though so I bought cottage living and cats and dog first 🐺❤❤❤
@@angieperez3864 yessss!! Any expansion pack that could potentially give you a new world and additional careers. Weather is cool but I just feel like it feels empty with just base game.
Hahaha that last statement tho!! I can’t wait to see how far we can go with horses with other worlds and stuff! Love this.

I'm an OG player. I got the Get to Work first, and I was amazed we could finally get to go to work with them. Then I got City Living, then Get Famous. I think those are core for base game. I got seasons way later because I am from Miami and used to it being one season all year long, so it didn't matter to me. 😂
😂😂 that's golden
As a person who has lived in California the past 7-8 years and doesn’t miss waking up to blizzards and having to dig my car out, I feel this! Let my Sims have nice mid weather all year round for now. Eventually I might want seasons.
Miami just have one season? I'm sorry i'm not from America, i thought y'all had 4 seasons
BRINDLETON BAY WEATHER IS SO AWFUL😭😭
did anyone catch how I called myself out? haha. i'm guilty of ranking seasons no. 1.
I personally recommend get together first since it has a beautiful world and the club system is extremely useful for storytelling and gameplay
i need to revisit get together. one of the expansion packs I haven't explored in its entirety.
Now I'll buy season because I mainly play in Henford and I think that weather is important to give a realistic british atmosphere to the world.
first packs i bought were city living and university, because i wanted the apartments and the generational gameplay that comes with university. i think you should buy the packs you’re most excited about and then get seasons when you can
city living is my jam and was also one of my first packs considering I didn't start playing until around that time
Seasons is definitely one of thise things I rarely think about when gaming.
Love it.
I first got Cats and Dogs then when the vet career got boring i decided to spice up my game with city living THENNNN I got seasons and I honestly really recommend city living as it really made my game interesting for a while and even to this day
Man you have no idea how much I love your channel. Your content is like a breath of fresh air in the sims community. Thank you for all you do.
I appreciate that! That’s nice to hear. I like to be silly while trying to be informative.
Yas! Nard is soooo unique in his content!!
@@danitho y'all trying to make me do the ugly cry tonight or what? lol
You are not going to get $40 worth of content with any of these EPs...😭
That's true but in my opinion, you're going to get way more bang for the buck with any of the packs I mentioned vs seasons. Especially if you only have a budget to get ONE game and all you got is base game. my opinion of course.
ESPECIALLY not with the horse ranch pack!
@drethethinker6418 That's why I only buy them few months after their release. That's when there's a 50% discount on them. 😭
Dag Dag👁👁
My first pack was Get to Work, my grandpa bought me the Sims 4 plus Get to Work for Christmas❤
That’s awesome! I’m assuming you were playing sims 4 when it first came out
I got seasons because I wanted Clement Frost as the first-generation legacy dad. Dog and Cats pack was the first (I'm a crazy cat lady) Got several mods for it that work great, next was cottage living mostly for the build stuff.
My first expansion pack was Cottage Living because I love the farming. I was base game only for a while.
I planned buying seasons, but as i think into it deeper, weather wouldnt really make the game so much more fun. Thanks for your suggestions by the way
In my opinion, get at least one or two that you think you will really enjoy and then get seasons so you can get the additional features like weather, CAS, seasonal gameplay like winterfest and new years activities.
Didn’t in sims 2 you can own apartments or something like that? I didn’t play it enough to get apartments
@@shem_gem seeeee that's awesome! being able to build apartments from scratch adn have them be functional. so weird that they didn't keep that going in the other games. maybe it was too much coding or something. could have been worth it tho. maybe they'll reintroduce it to sims 5. who knows.
From Chicago and same. I need apartments in the sims.
Love your content! The way you deliver things while still being informative/funny is awesome!
thank you so much! i appreciate that!! i usually don't do videos like this so when I do -- i have to deliver it the nardvillain way.
I cannot stress this enough: *BUY BUNDLES* bundles give you 3 packs for a price just a little higher than the cost of 1 expansion pack and it's such a good investment
facts!
ahhhh instant gaming was an old sponsor of mine. but definitely utilize IG's platform if you want deals! super cheap.
top 3 pack refreshes you want to see?
mine wold be: get to work, dine out and get famous.
Eco has a lot to offer in regards to gameplay and build/buy. If you have base game only, it’ll give you so much more
I absolutely agree.
Later on, Seasons is great.
and you can't even include Oasis Springs as one of the worlds because it'll just look weird with snow and rain in the desert lol.
I got city living and island living when I first started playing wich was a year ago and I got seasons today
I need to give getting together another look. I don't utilize the features like I should.
Outdoor Retreat was the first DLC for Sims 4 so that's where I started after buying the digital deluxe base game.
nice! so you know what it's like to get a few packs prior to buying seaons. at least with outdoor retreat, it gave you a new world. outdoor retreat isn't my fav but I do like being able to renovate that whole. world with ponds and lakes.
i believe my first one was get to work, then city living and others along the way. i thought the exact same about city living or get famous being way better first choices coming straight from base game!
I still enjoy doing the detective career from time to time just to sit in the office and do nothing when my sim reaches level 10 haha
Yeah, see?! So many other essential packs you could get before seasons.
I like that cool plant in the background.
thanks friend!
I do acknowledge that Get Famous has more cross-pack compatibility, but sometimes it's not all about that.
i have only bought one expansion pack and it’s eco lifestyle, and i’m very happy with it!
First pack I got was vampires because I couldn't afford an EP and the first EP I got was City Living
great choices. i wish they gave mermaids and aliens more love when it comes to the perk system. The perk system for vampires, spellcasters and werewolves are spot on!! i wish they did this with parenthood as well.
I got many other packs before I bothered with seasons, which I got on sale. so I totally agree with you!
Thank you so much for this input! I was literally so confused what to get cos I only have base game. This helped me out a lot. Thank you! 😊
I bought it expecting The Sims 2 seasons (I didn’t play 3) 😢
hahahha. yeah, i figured the OG simmers had no choice. haha.
I think my first DLC I bought was Get to Work. Back then, it was a lot more enticing to play nowawdays, I rarely use the careers from that pack cause my top game styles are getting rich with the best career salaries (rags to riches) and legacy family play. Seasons is highly overvalued. It brings a lot to the table but I can’t lie, I’d be perfectly fine if it was sunny all the time and my sims weren’t overheating cause it’s summertime 😂
grab pack to start out with honestly. yes, you don't get weather but you get features to allow you to go to work with your sim.
My first expansion was vampires because I loved them in Sims 3 and I played with just base game and vampires for several months before branching out on other packs when they were on sale.
I just started paranormal stuff pack gameplay and OMG
THE WAY I SLEPT ON IT.
With the haunted residential?
Cassandra Goth finna save the family 😤
Why didn’t it have more-the seances? I just love it.
Get famous and get to work are and get together are NEEDED.
In my humble opinion.
I litterally got sims 4 at rarest time it because in epic games for some reason sim 4 was free for epic games and i had 3 hours to buy it and i never regret playing the game honestly this happened 2 or 3 years ago
i didn't know epic games were giving out sims 4 base game for free.
@@Nardvillain they still are
@@maximusl7118 well the base game should be free across all sites that are selling games.
@@Nardvillain ye, im aware.. but i got sims 4 (2-3 years ago)
You playing a clip of you literally putting seasons in your tops 3 actually made me lol
I love season but it should have been part of the base game season was my first pack.
what's up big bro!! yeeees, even tho get to work is an oldie, I love it. detective career is easily one of my favorite careers.
My first Sims 4 Expansion pack was Get to Work and I also got Outdoor Retreat, Cook Kitchen and Kids Room stuff packs at the same time, all but Outdoor were half off too
That is awesome! so you got a few packs so that when you did get seasons, you had worlds and other gameplay features prior to seasons.
@Nardvillain oh yeah, especially since i got all the other expansions, and Get Famous and several game packs before I got Seasons, so lots of worlds to play 😄
Should’ve just bought cats and dogs😭 I hate seasons so bad with h the amount of content they could’ve added but failed to add
Yeah, I'm glad it wasn't my first pack because I was able to somewhat appreciate what that pack offers to the packs I already had.
For bought dlc the first ever of each type was
Game pack was Realm of Magic
Stuff Pack was Vintage Glamour
Expansion Pack Island Living
Kit was the first three ever Bust the dust, country kitchen, throwback fit kit.
Oh shooooot! I forgot about the holiday pack!
My fist was "Growing Together", I LOVE THIS, OMG ❤
I didnt even realize the calander was free now. Imo thats the packs main feature outside of the aestheticnchanges ofnthe seasons and the ac featuee ruining public lots lol
Yup! i think that became of feature when they released My Wedding Stories last year.
My 1st pack was pets I think. It's a good pack to start with.
Oh nice. The stuff pack or the expansion pack?
Happy simming! dag dag
City Living is great. Season's is fabulous but I would go for City living if you can only get one.
@@sherrybrissette1614 same here
Wild move, but I first bought Strangerville because that’s my type of jam irl, a weirdo desert town. Once I saw sims could get uncomfortable in the rain, it was an immediate no from me on Seasons. I know it’s realistic, but nobody has time for that lol
Everything from Sims being scared of the thunder and Sims freezing to death or overheating, it was making it hard for me to leave autonomy off lol.
@@Nardvillain oh heeeeeck no
First expansion pack I ever bought the Sims four with cats and dogs, and I do not regret it
You might be right. I have all the packs, but nothing lags my game more than the weather.
when it comes to lag, i can't tell because what lags my game is when we get base game updates. after a week or so -- my game is back to normal and it also depends on the save file. I think I had the worst lag with werewolves, my wedding stories and my high school years.
This is very informative, and I am soo glad you decided to drop a video on this topic, and you just introduced me to instant gaming!! 🐐
Thanks for watching!!! Instant Gaming is helps with keeping the cost down a little! enjoy!!
The first one I bought was cottage living And then I bought them in groups on steam Until I had them all Now I'm waiting for Horse ranch But yes I agree that Seasons shouldn't be the first 1 you buy It is a great path though I'm a pet lover though so I bought cottage living and cats and dog first 🐺❤❤❤
i bet you're really excited for the horse ranch EP dropping soon! :)
@@Nardvillain yes love the sims 4 Some people don't like it but I enjoy it 🐺❤❤❤
This man said "'cause you get the calendar ..." 😂😂😂
👹👹👹
My first ever exp. pack besides having base game was also get famous and I thoroughly enjoyed it
Wow thank you for this link!! I've been thinking about getting some new packs and this came just in time. New sub!! Thanks a ton!
you're welcome! happy to help!!
I always say that Get to Work and Get Together should be first.
@@angieperez3864 yessss!! Any expansion pack that could potentially give you a new world and additional careers. Weather is cool but I just feel like it feels empty with just base game.
City living is def my favourite pack.
yaaaaas! it's mine too!!!
yes! seasons is one of the last expansions I bought
My first pack was cats and dogs.. the only thing I can brag about is I got it for cheaper due to CDKeys
sometimes reseller sites are the way to go. they're totally legal too. I'm partnered with instant gaming.
@@Nardvillain I’ve seen! Congrats on you’re sponsorships, I can assure you even if I haven’t commented I’ve been watching you🫶🏻
