I remember I made all my Sims go out to eat, and since Dine Out takes forever, my child sims were out past curfew. When the curfew hit, my cat texted my child to tell him he was out too late.
I feel like the sims 4 is just like an unseasoned chicken and the sims team just keeps adding more chicken instead of giving it some seasoning :/ Weird example but you get what I mean lol
If Child Sims age up with a negative relationship with each other it genuinely makes it so hard to develop a positive relationship between them as adults. The 'sibling rivalry' dynamic is genuinely one of my favourite elements of the pack
I think that the theme behind the CAS objects is "comfy/around the house". I mean, if you're going to be running around after toddlers all day long you're not going to be wearing your nicest clothes. You'd want something comfy that you wouldn't necessarily be angry if you got some food/paint/dirt on it. I'm assuming... I'm not a mother myself but I've met a few, lol
in the beginning of having kids, we get embarrassed at the things kids drop and puke on us. sometimes we down right cry when its our best stuff, and baby spits up right down our back before we head off to work or out on a date with dad. but you get over it, and start wearing the comfy clothes, because by that time, who cares. LOL!! yes im a mum who has been puked on, pissed on, shit on, and all kinds of food items spit on me by the smallest tykes learning how to eat solids. LOL!!
@@kamiko70 Oh I feel you. I have done many babysitting and have also been a nanny so I have also been there... puked on, spit on, etc. Always wear comfy, easily replaceable clothes when with kids. Although, I know it's not always an option. Like that one last hug before you leave the house you get puked on. Yay.
I remember grounding my sim from having friends over and they got busted for hanging out with his best friend because the DOG was in his room and the dog was best friends with him.
One of the big problems i have with parenthood and kinda the sims 4 in general is that it's really difficult to make a terrible sim. I was playing a legacy and part of it is to have all the character traits (good and bad) at some point. It was so difficult to make my sims have the negative traits. I would try to set off sibling rivalries and they would autonomously make up, i had to delete homework and stop them from cleaning to lower other traits. There isn't really any challenge with raising children.
Agreed! I wish the toddlers would start out with different green or red progress on each of the traits, rather than neutral. Then at least they would be more likely to autonomously do bad things. You would be more likely to end up with a bad trait and would need to put in more effort to keep them nice!
There is one thing with cross pack compatibility. If a child plays with the doctor set and then becomes a doctor, they will get a moodlet for remembering they played with the doctor toy. Also, if they get the responsible trait, any job pop ups will always give them a positive performance gain.
They definitely don't have enough parenting questions that kids ask, it's just like the same 3 or 4 questions over and over again, which probably would be ok while playing on short lifespan, but some people like turning aging off to let their child sims and families experience life.
you won't get the sibling rivalry trait until they've aged up into young adults, whilst hating each other. They will get angry moodlets around each other, something about not enjoying being around family, and they have specific interactions between each other once they've aged.
I’ve noticed an impact of character traits on the adults. The responsible sims automatically work hard at work and leave early for class at university.
This is my favorite pack and I 100% agree with your assessment. I just like family gameplay enough that it’s still my favorite despite wishing it had more.
I wish it had more but I still think it has enough to qualify as a decent game pack. The people saying it doesn't probably just have not played a save long enough to really see what all the pack does.
I use a lot of the CAS for athletic wear apparently (I didn't realize it was parenthood CAS). I don't think I could go back to family gameplay without parenthood anymore and have had the pack so long I am not sure what is parenthood and what is basegame. I find the values, except for responsibility and sometimes manners, to be almost impossible to raise (and all of them are impossible to lower to the negative side) and if I want them I often cheat (immediately before aging up, because 1 interaction and you will fall outside of the range).
One thing that would have been nice is if the pack would've included a baby dolly or a baby bear toy that actually lets a child gain a parenting skill point or 2 for when they grow up and have kids of their own, they would have a head start on parenting from the toy, also if the kids could help feed or take care of there little siblings, it would really help out the parents, especially in single parent families with a child and a toddler or baby, after all it does happen in real life where a child helps out with their little siblings.
dude, imagine a doll or bear that lets them gain skill points and its also like the imaginary friend doll thing from TS3. where it can come to life but only the child sim can see it, and eventually it can move into the family
One of the things that annoys me about High School Years is a lot of the content should have been a refresh for Parenthood. But nothing in HSY was actually a new feature anyway. Everything in that pack is something from another pack or something we had, with maybe the exception of the funfair on the pier. So at best it's a bunch of things we already had, plus something that could have been a stuff pack if it were more developed.
While I like the pack I actually fully agree there's a lot of wasted potential and, in truth, the pack doesn't do that much but it makes it seem like it does. E.g. I really hate how lackluster the childhood phases are. Like, my sim's kid was having a "rebellious" phase. Really? I noticed absolutely nothing rebellious about their behavior. Besides from the bear phase it's like the only thing you notice are some redundant moodlets and crap. Also, the lack of any cross-pack play is actually depressing.
you should also add that EA was nice enough to add the trait of loyalty, so if your SIM does not have this, they fight with everyone, because they have loyalty to no one. they went overboard with the anger and picking fights, so now your Sims many times just dont get along, like in a real family. when you have kids, this puts more reality into the family, and makes it more like playing a real family. a person who doesnt have kids, doesnt like them, or doesnt want them, are not going to like parenthood. a neat Sims will autonomously clean things up, wheras a prankster or a dirty Sims will not.
I might only like the values thing from this pack🤣🤣. The parenting skill is ok but ,honestly, it needed much more and more CONSEQUENCES to children’s mischief ahah. I also like the diary.
You're right this pack sadly didn't go far enough with the gameplay. It would be interesting to see what it could be with an update to it, especially now that the high school expansion is out they could really make it fun.

I have to say that there is gameplwy for teens an children, in the sense that values are affected by the stuff they do autonomously and when you control them. It kind of adds a demension to those life stages
This is so true, i love the charakter values but it takes way too long to get kids/teens in the range of earning the trait. I always cheat 2 charakter values fir my sims just cause i want them to have free time outside of school/doing homework.
I have to say I use the CAS items ALL the time :D I actually really like them. Generally I like the pack, but it's just too small for a game pack. I wish they would have done a Generations expansion instead and put the parenting skill in there.
Sims 2: Amazing family gameplay in Base Game, some more thrown in with most future packs. Sims 3: Ok family gameplay in Base Game, Generations and Seasons being the packs that really add the most in future. Sims 4: Wait, you guys got families?
One thing I don't like about the game play, if you ground your child or teen sims from going out, they can get in trouble again for going to school. Like why!? 🤦🏻♀️
Parenthood and seasons are two 0acks that I bought first because they were highly recommended wherever I checked, but I was extremely disappointed by both. I do not enjoy seasons because the holidays get repetitive and boring after a while, having to change clothes because of the weather seems like nuisance and overall it doesn't add anything to the game play. With parenthood I believe it should not even be a pack, toddlers for the most part are annoying to play with because the interactions mostly glitch out, and after a couple of generations it just become repetitive. Considering the monopoly that the sims has had for all this time I think they should have atleast figured out ways to make game play unique to a certain degree. They keep selling overpriced stuff packs that don't stand a chance against all the great CC that's out there, the least that they could do is add new features to game otherwise all you end up doing is maintaining their needs until you get bored, stop playing for months, watch a good game play series on TH-cam and then go back to repeat the cycle
Agreed the CAS sucks. It needed to be better. Build buy is definitely good. And I'm trying to work on the legacy but it's hard. Also I kind of wish that it didn't expect me to have the same sort of values and that there were kind of in between traits. You don't get to either one or the other end of the value and you just have a normal sim. I have some pretty mischevious toddlers who are going to be rough kids and.... I'd like that to matter more their different behaviors.
I don't like the character value system. At the same time, I feel like the gameplay for kids is a series of checkboxes to fill as a whole. Maxing out the parenting skill gives super efficient baby care. Most simmers are most likely done with babies at this point, unless they're doing the 100 baby challenge.
I love playing legacy! Is it that rare to play that way? I just got back into the Sims and about three generations in when most of my active Sims were born in game is so fun to me. Just seeing what genetics trickle down by around third gen when I have mostly not created a sim in awhile is fun to see.
i like playing with toddlers and kids, and they never have anything good for them. so i think they have more in this pack, and the kids room pack, then any of the other packs. i also have the toddler pack. there are lots of interactions you miss out on without these packs, including the clothing for the wee ones. i agree as a small pack, they missed the mark. but these packs combined should have been sold as an expansion and called family life. i think its a shame you cant add your own colors and patterns anymore. the colors they have are quite blah!
So I own Parenthood and didn't know it came with a house? Where can I find it cuz I have searched the gallery and the pre-made rooms and cannot find it, also having the same problem with the paranormal pack I can't find the haunted house
@@wolfsong4720 so I narrowed it down to those two specific packs, make sure that they were by maxis, and made sure that they were lots. Does anyone know the title of the house's I'm also not seeing anything for the haunted house
@@thatstrangething4859 Are you in your library specifically? Or the full gallery? The lots are in the My Library tab, NOT the gallery. The haunted house is called Duplantier Dwelling, the parenthood house is called Commodious Residence. (Unrelated fun fact, lilsimsie renovated it once, it's really weirdly built in that the main downstairs portion is not considered a room by the game 😂😭) I hope that helps you find it!
Looking forward to this one. Everyone loves it and seems to think it’s necessary but even though I love family gameplay I’ve never seen the point. Let’s see if Satch thinks I should buy it. 🙂
The only thing I would add to seasons is the types of holidays, from what I understand they’re the Catholic/Christian holidays except I’m a pagan and don’t celebrate them myself (family still do and I do for them) I’d like to see Samhain or Imbolc too or Ramadan is Islam or National Kids Day in Japan add some more cultural holidays and celebrations that aren’t as well known by the larger population
Parenthood is the only pack I regret buying. Doesn't add enough game play, I hardly notice the traits and I've never had a sim develop a bad trait. CAS is just ok. Build/buy has some cute items, but I don't love the swatches. I especially wish the items had better wood swatches. With the new generations pack coming out soon and the infant update, I don't think you need this pack. Let's hope the new content is better than Parenthood!

No this is not a weird example, this is literally what Sims 4 is.
Sims 4 Parenthood + My Wedding Stories + High School Years + Growing Together = Sims 3 Generations.
Plus Kids Room Stuff, plus Toddler Stuff. The fact those were separate SPs is.... Yeah...
You hit the nail on the head there, I totally agree!

I’d be curious to know which packs most people feel like EA didn’t do the bare minimum on
should i buy it in a bundle with growing together?
It honestly needs a refresh
I am literally traumatized by how addicted I am to your videos ❤ and definitely I’m not buying parenthood, I’ll wait and buy high school years
If we werent going to purchase HSY, would you recommend Parenthhood even tho its a 5/10?
And hows its cross pack compatibility with Growing Together??
Parenthood is the only pack I regret buying. Doesn't add enough game play, I hardly notice the traits and I've never had a sim develop a bad trait. CAS is just ok. Build/buy has some cute items, but I don't love the swatches. I especially wish the items had better wood swatches. With the new generations pack coming out soon and the infant update, I don't think you need this pack. Let's hope the new content is better than Parenthood!
Is it just me lr does it lag a lot? Like my sim doesntpick up her kid
You're so toned and good-looking
Very smart about your strength workouts and nutrition
I want that too but I don't have money for a gym and a gym couch
This is my least favorite pack and I sometimes just uninstall because the toddler with it get even more annoying.
8:24 sounds realistic to me lol.
just like rhe whole game personality traits dont have an actual impact
.cool video keep up the great content.. Thank you…
Thank you
it has as much content as a free update imo
i think EA is just a money hungry company because you would expect the game to already have all of this.
boots the house
Should've been a stuff pack.
high school years is the worst pack and definitely no value for money. Parenthood is
first omg
Teenagers have phases
