When you started talking about Tempo, that was like the 100th time I realized just how knowledgeable you are. As a School Director and as a teacher myself, it's wonderful to get that WOW I just learned something feeling that I always want my students to have. Thank you for that RDF! Hats off to you for taking this seriously and sharing your knowledge! Respect!
got to the 16min mark or thereabouts and had to pause the vid to comment. Some of the best and informative vids about FM on TH-cam. I really enjoy how RDF keeps his videos and presentation simple, he's not trying to be some comedian or popstar, just delivers great presentation and expertly walks viewers through the tactic. Thanks man, its much appreciated!
Hello RDF. Once upon a time, you recreated the tactics of Emma Hayes. And so, against the backdrop of the wonderful performance of women's Barcelona, when they have a winning streak since the beginning of the season, creating many chances and scoring many goals and at the same time conceding only 4 goals, I would like to see a recreation of the tactics of the coach of women's Barcelona Jonatan Giraldez
Well certainly look to create one. Any suggestions on the team to test with? I can do Barca but people may think too many Barca videos 😆 - thanks for the recommendation.
Been using this for a day now, works perfectly, the amount of possession you have is ridiculous. Also want to highlight the CM on attack, it works wonders in this setup.
Love it! This is the very extreme version of my own tactic more or less. Seeing this it gives me the confidence to slow things down even more and press more often and higher. I was always wary of tiring the players out towards the end of the season but you have kept the intensity to a good level.
Very interesting video! I love possession tactics & so am grateful for your tips. Do you find that wider width works well with very short passing? Logic says the players need to be closer to one another. With such dynamic roles in central midfield, plus their instructions to take more risks, don't you find that possession is squandered too often? I enjoy listening to you on the FM podcast for The Athletic. I might send you my possession tactics for scrutiny. All the best to you.
Thank you for offering us an insight on tactic building! I have a question though... In the Half Back role you have chosen the option "Close down more".. I can't , for the life of me, find this option on the role.. I know i can just download the tactic, but i would like to know how to actually enable it myself!
Nice video, Sir, and I also have enjoyed your contributions on the FM show podcast. Question: you spoke early in the video of a "cautious" approach, yet you have selected "positive" for your team mentality. Can "Cautious" work, or does it reduce the closing down out of possession too much and/or stifle attacking movements?
Excellent video. I'm trying to play attacking yet possession based football on my save and it's nice to see that some of your tactic is already in mine. I don't bother with counter-press as I don't want to burn my players out. I now need to be more ruthless in the final third. It could be down to individuals not performing very well. I do love the tip on the left inside forward marking the right central defender. I may try that. I wonder what would happen if you had a set up like yours but the mentality set to attacking or very attacking.
Great video, loved the way you explained the role and instructions for each position. Now i have better understanding on how to get the players to act like intended. Keep it up!
Excellent video really indepth and interesting. I've used it with a couple tweeks in my sochaux save and works perfectly. Cm on attack is my favourite role gets goals and assists.
Great video bro really helpful 👌🏻👏🏻 Are you going to make more of these "how to" videos? If so could you make one on creating training schedules please 🙏🏻 Again top job mate 💥🔥
When first used this tactic was working well with arsenal then 2nd season, winning games but averaging 40%. Swear you only keep possession if play defensively I hate this game
Hey RDF can we have 5-2-3 or 5-3-2 possession (average 60%) based tactics, similar to that of Chelsea? Would be very interesting to see how that works.
I suggest 532, in the middle u bwm in the back of 3 ,and in front a mezzala and btobox midfilder, ichose vertical tiki taka, and then put everything in possession in standar, i only used attack in the middle, and later as the league goes u can some tweeks, shorter passing and how quick. Attackers are af and f9
@@gonigbratal3963 Will try that mate, although I would prefer a DLP, BBM/BWM/CM and Mez, and forwards will play AF and DLP (although Havertz plays as a F9). Objective would be to play through middle but use Wingbacks to stretch the opposition.
@@rachitdang7453 i guess middle doesnt make too much difference, i also would suggest for a fun fact cause its also works for me, two midfilders one dlp one mezzala, and 3 attackers af af and f9, trust me over 55 possesion, many chances many goals
Indeed a very possession oriented tactic but I wonder how you score goals. I play with Lyon and I have an average of 5 shots per game...most of them from set pieces. When you face passive teams it works good. But when you face high pressing teams you will be destroyed with AI's relentless pressing.
Is the first point really true though? That FM possession is based on how long a player has the ball? I've checked SEVERAL games and I've always found that the team with more possession has also made the more passes, just like real life. The problem to me seems more the fact the other teams pass the ball around the back safely.
No because if that was the case, the team with most passes would have greatest avg possession. Staff on the SI forum have also confirmed how possession works in FM. It hasn't changed/updated and has always been that way. How it's calculated in real life has changed
@@RDFTactics But that's the thing, I've noticed that when the opposition team has more possession when playing against me it's also reflected in the number of passes they've made, which is more than my team. For example I'm 30min in a game right now and the other team has 59% possession (280 passes attempted) and my team is on 41% possession (144 passes attempted). The percentages don't exactly add up (59% of 280 + 144 passes = 250 passes) but it's pretty close. But like you said possession just works a bit weird right now so I probably shouldn't be overthinking this
Tactic is very hit and miss for my Barca side. Currently, about 1/4 of the season done and lost half my games and won half my games. Possession is good and passing is also quite excellent and I can sometimes score absolutely lovely goals but I get nowhere near the results you do RDF.
I think it's too easy to create successful possession tactic with Barca. But any way great theoretical explanation, will be helpful with my attempts to play poseesion football with Norwich)
@@RDFTactics completely agree about CmAt, excellent role with very nice overlapping runs through center, combinations witj forwards on support can be deadly, when you have right players
this doesn't work with an average or below average team. You'll have >60% posession, but 0 chances. AI will rip you appart with pressing and long balls. Just be aware and only use it with Barca, ManC...

Great job with this tactic. I really appreciate your explanation of the thoughts and logic behind your tactical choices.

Really thank you for this video, awesome !
hey RDF, i was wondering if you think using a regista and a mezzala and a bbm would be a good midfield 3
Good video. I assume this will only work with good players / high passing stats? ; so not really for Lower League?.
thx for that !
I had captions on at the start of the video - "Is Pokémon broken on FM22?" - Personally I think Scorbunny would be super effective infront of goal.
