I sang this myself in Holy Trinity in Brimscombe in 1963 - 60 Easters ago as a 10 year old local choir boy. I can still recall much of the tune & words and it has never left me ... a treasured memory from a wonderful life. If you have never heard Stainer's Crucifixtion sung, then go to any church and enjoy something that is truely blessed ................
Who are the 5 listeners who have not liked this video? And to be singing artists at such a young ages. Brings back my faith in the divine. Congratulations to the music director. SUBLIME!
If you like it, who cares if it’s not to the taste of others?? I’ve never been able to figure this out. There are people who just don’t care for the church music from the Victorian period through to the early 20th century, and they have the right to say its crap, if they want to. I sang in Episcopal church choirs for 40 years, so I definitely know what I’m talking about. Anyway, I don’t even look at that icon, I guess bc I don’t want to entertain unnecessary negativity in my life....there’s a whole lot of negativity already.
Listening to this and seeing their faces is just so incredible. So many emotions of understanding Gods love and the children singing it in their fresh innocent minds full of faith as a child can only show us💕
Beautiful ♥️💯God so loved the world He gave CHRIST Jesus the Anointed One to save us🌍♥️✝️❤🛐🛐🛐🛐🛐🛐🛐 amen amen amen hallelujah 😃👑💡📖 Chris has come Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.the angel said unto them... 🛐🛐🛐🛐🛐
This has long been one of my favourite Passiontide anthems. It has been quite some time since I was a chorister but I was transported right back there. Thank you for sharing.
Beautiful. Perfect, even. Having sung in an Anglican choir, I've have sincere admiration for their matchless artistry and musicianship. I'm surprised to notice only one non-white person in the choir, in 2021. Why are people of other ethnicities not represented in King's College Choir, by now? One of the best choirs in the world, could be setting an example in this respect.
There is much greater diversity in the full choir. The younger boys who will be joining the choristers next are more diverse. Also, the choral scholars, who were unable to take part in these recordings due to positive Covid tests, are also more representative of our society.
But this isn't a choir chosen by audition off the street. The children all attend King's School, a private prep school linked to King's college. I suspect any student with qualifications can make application there. Normally when the university men (choral scholars) are back in the row behind the choir boys they are students at King's College. Your inquiry should be addressed to the admissions people at that college. There have been Asian and Black choral scholars, for the record. I'll note too, that very few Cathedral choirs and University choirs at Oxford or Cambridge colleges have diversity, but neither does the Sistine Chapel Choir in Roma, and their name is Universal (catholic).
When recruiting for a choir of this type, the only criteria for successful admission are those of musical ability and aptitude. No other criteria are considered, and that is as it should be.
I am more than a bit sad to see you bring something so superficial as race into an anthem reciting that whosoever should believe in Him. Please leave race out of it. Christ most certainly did. How strange that a church choir in England should be filled with English boys? About as strange as a church in Botswana filled with Botswanan boys looking like Botswanans, albeit with the same universal message of hope and universal love that comes through faith in Christ alone. How strange that our modern society uses this tool of Satan to drive a wedge between us. Race? How silly, indeed. You were programmed to look for that, as in some way were we all. Why? Would you question this in Botswana? Not really a question as much as a thought. No need for a reply. God bless you, and God bless us all.
The King's Singers were involved only because of a case of Covid reported among the Choral Scholars, ruling the latter out of participating in the recording of the Christmas and Easter programmes, usually done back to back in December. All being well and with the Covid situation ameliorated, the Choral Scholars will be back for December 2021 and, consequently, for Easter 2022.
God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life. He sent His Son, Jesus, to die for your sins and rise again. He offers you forgiveness and eternal life. He invites you to follow Him and be His child. He gives you His Spirit and His Word. He blesses you with every spiritual blessing. He cares for you and provides for you. He is with you always and will never leave you. Trust Him, love Him, praise Him, worship Him, honor Him, serve Him, share Him. He is all you need. Amen.
This is probably not the time or place or mowed to be evangelizing. Let the music speak for itself as it is scripture and you can’t do any better than scripture.

I love those boys and their families who gave them the love for music!
Also who made the sacrifice and gave them up to music - many many hours spent away from the family - practicing.
'God so loved the world': some truths are so profound that they must be repeated until we hear them for the first time.
Amen. That is such a wonderful comment that I just reposted it on Facebook. Thank you.
@@Apriluser Many thanks for your kind comment.

I was just thinking that! I think they must have just pressed the wrong button - it can be the only explanation!
*who are the 5 sinners …
For as long as we are capable of this, there is hope.
Que Dios nos proteja siempre, y cure la maldad de este mundo.

Omg dios mio
The choir sings melodic songs.
Love the musical arrangement... However, I was thinking why no blacks included and what criteria is used for enrollment.?
Avagrad
So no girls or transgenders in the choir? Thank god for once the church has got it right and stuck to traditions.
