No sir. That just wouldn't be fair would it? (; There'll probably be a fair few changes made to the build which I played so I'll let the new factions "settle" first.

The updates are really good sir. They're not entirely bug-free, but the new mechanics have enough interesting stuff in there to forgive a the small issues I've encountered. You'll have a good time Gonkster.
This whole DLC/update feels extremely reminiscient of the W2 glory days, which isn't something I thought I'd ever say about W3, given its rocky life cycle so far.
What I like most about this DLC, is that while it introduces DLC lords that I like, which wasnt the case for SoC, it also makes me just as, if not more excited to play old factions, especially franz, gelt, kugath and ungrim. This is how DLCs for warhammer should be.
I'm actually super excited to play a Balthasar Gelt campaign where I stay in Cathay and slowly work my way back to the Empire itself. Might kill Franz when I get there and declare Balthasar the new Emperor, idk I'm equally excited to play Elspeth von Draken and use her teleportation thing to help create mini-provinces around the Empire instead of one contiguous territory I control with lots of allies. Overall, I'm excited for lots of Thrones of Decay's changes. I'm also interested in playing Dwarfs for the first time! I usually prefer factions that have more mobile units, but now I'm interested in playing some true stout walls of steel Dwarfs with gunpowder and explosions.
When you can say “the weakest of the races got most of their value out of the free stuff” that’s a glowing endorsement. When the worst part of the DLC “just isn’t my cup of tea” that’s a good thing, because for every one of those, there’s another person that has been dying for it.

People cannot make an informed decision on whether they will like some content or find it worth if they don't understand the scope of what is being added. Great job on this one.

@@BlakesTakes420 Well you definitely matched your old quality. It seemed like some people's reviews of SoC ended up just being sessions to bash CA. I look forward to more of your videos.

Hello, Blake. Thank you for your take. This DLC is looking like a strong attempt to make up for the problems with WH3, in recent times. Other videos have made me feel apprehensive about the whole Age of Reckoning mechanic, as you've pointed out, but hopefully that'll be tweaked and fixed up quickly.
You're most welcome sir. I'm sure there'll be tweaks to it. The current iteration is fun though, just a bit unforgiving at points. You'll still have a good time. 🫶
As someone who loves Nurgle and the Empire equally I can't choose between the two. I guess I'll make my choice on who got the better FLC faction updates and who really needs new DLC units and Lords
I love the addition of a slayer hero and the Thunderbarge for the Dawi, however I'm not exactly sold on the other units but I guess time will tell on that. I do agree that the Dwarf reworks/updates are probably the strongest part for them for the DLC. Empire is definitely winning with this DLC with much needed reworks to faction mechanics and units, along with their new additions they are definitely the part of the DLC pack I am interested in the most. Elspeth looks just plain fun and yeah she does seem a bit OP or overtuned, at least until they patch the game again, but it is nice to have another Caster LL on the field for the old Empire. I'll be honest Tamurkhan does look cool and fun but nurgle doesn't really interest me just as a faction in general, I havent played them much and I dont really expect that to change even after their respective reworks but again that's just me. Out of the Chaos Demonic factions I much prefer Khorne, at least so far, I haven't played Tzeentch yet so maybe the cackling madman will change my views. Anyway, great video thanks for your thoughts.
I enjoyed reading this. You should definitely try Nurgle out as Tamurkhan, his cheiftains mechanic gives you a good bump which removes a lot of the early Nurgle pain.
So glad to see that CA is starting to get their shit together again, be it via the free update or the DLC itself. That said, _man_ this really illustrates just how unacceptable SoC and Pharaoh really were and still are. It's almost like they really can and could have done way better, had their corporate leadership not lost their goddamn minds. Completely agree with your ass-based analogy.
@@BlakesTakes420 Things are looking up for sure - hopefully the sales numbers end up rewarding their increased effort! Even the additions in the 2.0 patch for SoC didn't really fix my core issues with that DLC, sadly - for example, I tried the Changeling campaign again a while ago and I just absolutely can't bring myself to enjoy it, no matter what I do, the core concept just absolutely does not work for me. Thinking about it though, I really ought to give Pharaoh another shot as well (after I'm done with ToD) before dismissing it the way I did up there.
I will say this dlc just feels good Reworks were actually good. Elspeths mechanic is basically the skaven workshop BUT that isn't a bad thing, why reinvent the wheel and you can make some cool builds. Nurgle doesnt feel as handicapped anymore compared to the other chaos factions. Now they gotta figure out daniel
I want to buy the bundles and stuff, completely new to the series of Warhammer and RTS or strategy in general. Currently playing Warhammer Gladius cause it was free, just to see if I really like it. I played a lot of OSRS & WoW really enjoying the PVE but also the PVP aspect. Is there the ability to just que into a multiplayer game and play with random people? Feel like thats a large put of the fun, putting your skills to the test with live opponents.
I hope TW fans don't support this greedy new pricing model from CA, their best lord pack yet wouldn't even be worth the over 50% increase in price from the WH2 lord packs.
As usual a very nice video. I guess some things are completely up to taste. For me personally the dwarves are the best since I´m a huge Slayer fan. But Nurgle also finally looks interesting. And I can´t wait to play a Nuln campaign. And I can´t wait to see a video why I suck with them!
Why does all of that remind me of the more gunpowder and empire Engineers mod for TTW WH2? Like they look so alike. Even the Marienburg Landship is in the game now...
i think it was a good idea for CA to sell the legendary lords piecemeal like they did, so you can purchase specific lords and not the ones youre not interested in
I feel this was a great DLC, not perfect but that can be expected for release and before any major patches come out. I really like the additions added to each of the races, lords, heroes, units, mechanics, etc. The Empire is easily my favorite with how much this enhances the gunpowder of the faction. Steam Tanks are more awesome. Hopefully this is the beginning of a new era of Warhammer 3 DLCs for the coming years.
@@BlakesTakes420 Shadows of Change was a lesson CA have seemed to have learned from. Hopefully they'll continue what they started here for future DLCs for this game.
@@inductivegrunt94 shadows of change, pharoah and hyenas. All painful, uneccessary lessons. This step in the right direction can either be a new beginning or they can get sloppy again, I'll be there to let the people know which direction I think they're taking.
I still feel like the dlc could move in a similar direction to paradox, free features, paired with targeted dlc. Even if the dlc itself strictly speaking does not offer as much new, if the same care and attention is spend on improving the base game, I am okay with that.
They need to fix the pricing first. In Australia it used to be $13 for 2 lords, now they are $15ea. SoC is $36 but this new DLC is $45, just keeps getting more expensive.
Finally completed a Karl Franz campaign. And it felt soooooooooo good. Time to get on with dorf campaign as Bealgar. Let's just go instant hard mode. =D That one might be a good one to put next on the list.
Honestly I’m just really appreciative of them splitting up the content I really don’t play the empire and barely dwarves so for now I think I’ll only buy the Nurgle dlc which is super cool imo
I don't play to min max. When I play chaos undivided you better bet that I'm bringing marauders so when they charge in you hear "sacrifice them" plus all the units are cool so I don't care about stats. Throwing armies of chaft at brick walls is fun because perpetual warfare is how chaos wins
when i bought tw wh3, i was excited to spend months just playing different factions. Unfortunately, my version of the game is bugged as I only see Karl Franz every time I want to start a new campaign. Now this DLC is calling me to start my 50th Karl Franz playthrough.
It's a common bug, your best bet is to reinstall the game under Local Disk (C:) > users > KFranz >app data> SUMMON_THE_ELECTOR_COUNTS That should prevent any further thoughts of heresy creeping into you.
When Pharaoh went on sale with the big free shit announcement I grabbed it and I'm happy so far with my purchase. It'll probably be a worthy entry to the Total War franchise at its price tag.
The pharoah offering at launch was very mediocre. 1) high price 2) too narrow of a scope. With a sale and the added free shit I think it'll be worth a buy for sure. I didn't dislike pharoah at launch, but CA really could've done better.
I don't see how the toad dragons replace the GUOs? Those big boy get 2 FREE uses of both fleshy abundance and blight boil, but are much slower and easier to kite. Seems quite the different roles
@@BlakesTakes420 Of course, but you'll at least get the blight boil tech till you actually get GUOs, since the infection costs for military are so steep, so its kinda a moot point. With the bound spells, GUO still remain Nurgle's best (or one of its best) units. Free blight boil and fleshy is just insane
@@mustacheBpf I disagree that it's a moot point for discussion. It's a bad unit without technology. It has worse stats than a giant in basically every category other than melee defence I think they should have regeneration or something.
@@BlakesTakes420 Agreed on the unit having regeneration, I also think that if any unit should have regen, its the GUO. Tho, after all the buffs, them having worse stats than giants isn't that big of an insult, since giants actually have crazy stats. The speed and tall model is what let's them down. Their weapon strenght is insane
nobody is really talking how we are getting an empire faction in realms of chaos. I know that immortal empires is the best thing about wh3 , but i was really intrigued about this fact. will be interesting to see.
Good vid. Yeh, after the last main update and the additions of DLC's I gave WH3 a go again, completely vanilla ( I usually use mods) and tried out loads of different factions. I must say that CA have put in a lot of effort recently, with content, re-works, updates, fixes and polish and WH3 is becoming a much more solid and enjoyable experience because of it. It's a shame it took massive complaints and backlash as well as poor sales (Yes TW Pharoh I am looking at you) and a plethora of other crap CA have pulled over recent years to get a decent game produced. WH3 is getting better, much better in fact and I do hope that the recent arse-kicking CA has had will keep them focused and heading in the right direction. A Slayer does not ask how many... but where they are. ;-)
Thank you so much. I 100% agree with you. The writing was on the wall for WH3 basically since launch and it's just a massive shame it took CA so long to change course. Hopefully things will only get better from here on.
They appear after the plague has been created now instead. I get what you mean, but I think the new system is a fair bit more visible and easier to navigate. Function over form, which should normally be the case.
This DLC is night and day compared to Shadows of Change. I don’t even dislike SoC, but seeing lords and units people were actually asking for and big updates to bad faction mechanics has this feeling like a big upgrade.

Honestly so far the game feels fantastic with this DLC.
I'm glad they split the dlc. I'm thinking of grabbing Elspeth and I might get Tamurkhan too. Malakai though I just don't really care about.
The initial offering for shadows of change *sucked*. No doubt. Hopefully CA can stabilise now though.
@@HansAlRachid you're not wrong to dismiss it, it was actually better than I expected it to be, but still deeply mediocre.
the dwarfs changes look so good
I hope you enjoy them sir!
Looks an amazing this may be my favorite DLC yet. I will definitely be loading up a nurgep campaign!
Embrace the lord of maggots. He's very good.
Blake! Great video, man, but I must say that Hyenas gameplay you showed was industry-shaking. What a shame it was shut down!
Devastated about its closure.
I will say this dlc just feels good
Reworks were actually good. Elspeths mechanic is basically the skaven workshop BUT that isn't a bad thing, why reinvent the wheel and you can make some cool builds.
Nurgle doesnt feel as handicapped anymore compared to the other chaos factions.
Now they gotta figure out daniel
I think you might be the best TWW3 content creator on YT
Thank you! ❤️
Very cold take. Just goes to show how good this dlc is.
I've had a lot of fun with it, bugs and all.
Thank you Blake, for this take
My pleasure!
I hope TW fans return with Thrones of Decay, and that sales are enough for CA to keep supporting Warhammer 3 with such high quality DLC.
I hope TW fans don't support this greedy new pricing model from CA, their best lord pack yet wouldn't even be worth the over 50% increase in price from the WH2 lord packs.
As a german i see this as an absolute win
As usual a very nice video. I guess some things are completely up to taste. For me personally the dwarves are the best since I´m a huge Slayer fan. But Nurgle also finally looks interesting. And I can´t wait to play a Nuln campaign. And I can´t wait to see a video why I suck with them!
100% brother. All reviews are subjective and opinion.
beautiful random Erika drop
Franzer divisions man.
I need more.
Why does all of that remind me of the more gunpowder and empire Engineers mod for TTW WH2? Like they look so alike. Even the Marienburg Landship is in the game now...
If CA take more inspiration from mods then I'm all for it.
Alright, you have the best takes, sir. Tell me, should I pick up this or Chaos Dwarves. Watched both vids and I’m stumped
@@specioustest4321 I had more fun with Thrones of decay.
@@BlakesTakes420 Alright, I’m thinking Tamurkhan, have yet to play the Nurgle and he looks fun. Good choice?
@@specioustest4321 definitely, Tamurkhan is an excellent choice. All 3 campaigns were very strong imo.
Let me know which one you go for!
i think it was a good idea for CA to sell the legendary lords piecemeal like they did, so you can purchase specific lords and not the ones youre not interested in
Me too. Overall a win for the consumer I'd say.
I hope this to be the case. And I think CA have done a great job on this dlc and the patch. Hopefully we don't get a repeat of the past.
I enjoyed the Hyena footage at end. I see you enjoyed it as much as I did.
I truly love it's current iteration. I hope it never changes.
I'm jazzed for the praise, but bummed that it will be a while until I get them. I still plan to wait for a decent sale.
I'm going with Elspeth first, on the hopes that the new dwarf mechanic gets a rebalance in a Hotfix soon
You're not the only one complaining about regional pricing. That's for sure. I'll send it as feedback to CA for you.
It’s not a good warhammer total war video without Michael Rosen. 6/7 good work
*click* nice.
Finally completed a Karl Franz campaign. And it felt soooooooooo good.
Time to get on with dorf campaign as Bealgar. Let's just go instant hard mode. =D
That one might be a good one to put next on the list.
Good man well played
@@BlakesTakes420 Thanks. Mercenary dorf king for next Take?
Try belegar with old world mod for the real karak 8 peaks experience
Wow, I was expecting you to give us a teaser about how we suck at Hyenas
Hyenas crew:
"We are so back!"
i am gonna buy 2 out of 3 this is great maybe one day i will buy the 3rd but really i am gonna be happy either way its good additions to the game
Pick n mix, the savvy spender.
I don't quite know if it IS worth a buy Blake me boy, but I'm sure you'll let me know when I watch this video!
I await your decision friend, let me know if you took the plunge.
Honestly I’m just really appreciative of them splitting up the content I really don’t play the empire and barely dwarves so for now I think I’ll only buy the Nurgle dlc which is super cool imo
Me too man. It's a win and at least shows they're thinking about it.
I don't play to min max. When I play chaos undivided you better bet that I'm bringing marauders so when they charge in you hear "sacrifice them" plus all the units are cool so I don't care about stats. Throwing armies of chaft at brick walls is fun because perpetual warfare is how chaos wins
That's extremely based of you sir.
when i bought tw wh3, i was excited to spend months just playing different factions. Unfortunately, my version of the game is bugged as I only see Karl Franz every time I want to start a new campaign. Now this DLC is calling me to start my 50th Karl Franz playthrough.
It's a common bug, your best bet is to reinstall the game under Local Disk (C:) > users > KFranz >app data> SUMMON_THE_ELECTOR_COUNTS
That should prevent any further thoughts of heresy creeping into you.
@@BlakesTakes420 Wow, now i only see Karl Franz, even in real life. Thanks Karl Franz!
When Pharaoh went on sale with the big free shit announcement I grabbed it and I'm happy so far with my purchase. It'll probably be a worthy entry to the Total War franchise at its price tag.
The pharoah offering at launch was very mediocre.
1) high price
2) too narrow of a scope.
With a sale and the added free shit I think it'll be worth a buy for sure. I didn't dislike pharoah at launch, but CA really could've done better.
@@BlakesTakes420 I still can't believe they sent out partial refunds when they dropped the price.
I didnt even think about it. I bought all 3
I think these new factions will be played more then the ones in the last DLC. Less all out just good with fluid fun mechanics
Exactly this. No whacky gimmicks, just solid total war gameplay with thematic mechanical additions.
@BlakesTakes420 I'm playing the main nurgle lord, feels so good! Now it makes perfect sense what to do. Much more fun😊
Really hoping we finally get a Bretonnia DLC and rework in the next DLC.
That would be nice.
I don't see how the toad dragons replace the GUOs? Those big boy get 2 FREE uses of both fleshy abundance and blight boil, but are much slower and easier to kite. Seems quite the different roles
Only if you've gone down that tech line. Without the techs the GUOs are shocking. Which is sad to see
@@BlakesTakes420 Of course, but you'll at least get the blight boil tech till you actually get GUOs, since the infection costs for military are so steep, so its kinda a moot point. With the bound spells, GUO still remain Nurgle's best (or one of its best) units. Free blight boil and fleshy is just insane
@@mustacheBpf I disagree that it's a moot point for discussion.
It's a bad unit without technology. It has worse stats than a giant in basically every category other than melee defence
I think they should have regeneration or something.
I love that DLC's are split up now, I love the empire and couldn't care less about the others
CA and SEGA love charging you more for one lord than you used to pay for 2 also. Both win.
Ok Stannis
Stannis the Mannis
nobody is really talking how we are getting an empire faction in realms of chaos. I know that immortal empires is the best thing about wh3 , but i was really intrigued about this fact. will be interesting to see.
I hadn't even thought about playing RoC elspeth
@@BlakesTakes420 i did it rn, its not too bad , bunch of vamps and ogers
People play the War3 campaign?
will mr take focus on the free content first or the paid content when doing normal blake takes videos?
I was halfway through a faction when dlc came so I'm going to finish them first
P.S. I love slayers really.
I miss the old plague/symptom icons for nurgle
They appear after the plague has been created now instead. I get what you mean, but I think the new system is a fair bit more visible and easier to navigate. Function over form, which should normally be the case.
@@BlakesTakes420 Fair
a short period of time...... 8-9 months... id hate to see a long period of time.
To be fair to them they were reworking Shadows of Change too. I see your point though.
This slayer unit review earned a grudge. /s
BOOK
This DLC is night and day compared to Shadows of Change. I don’t even dislike SoC, but seeing lords and units people were actually asking for and big updates to bad faction mechanics has this feeling like a big upgrade.
It sure is friend.
😂😂😂 the Erika cutaway had me in stitches
Glad you enjoyed it my good man.
13:03 Did you kidnapp Ulrika? You you you.... Kislev loving, Vampire tolerant, cute Monster. ;) (cute comes from my wife hearing your voice.)
And Yes Sir Blake this is one of your hottest takes of all time. And i totally agree with it. Maybe they are pricey after all but this is the quality i'm looking for. And yeah this Grudge thing could use a little Balance but it will come sooner or later.
I executed as Elspeth, but I was too desperate as the dwarfs to do the right thing.
Watching these videos hurts, my computer is completely broken, and I'm getting withdrawal from not playing Karl Franz 😔
Get a new gaming pc my friend. It's always the best decision.
tbh only thing that matters is finally making Karl Franz playable only campaing worth of our time
Balthazar Gelt wants to know your location.
Can Ulrika join any Dwarf faction, or just Malakai?
I actually don't know haha, I'd never seen her appear in a dwarf army before.
