I always love episodes where the aliens' biology affects Ben or vice versa like when Ben's cold was affecting his aliens in OG Ben 10. It's just interesting seeing a more intimate connection between Ben and his aliens.
The entire franchise continues to say that the Omnitrix is meant to help other races understand each other by giving them a chance to be them. So it's nice they decided to go along with making such be a deeper experience.
Given the plotlines in the episode it seems like the writers intentionally self-censored a bit. What I mean by that is, it is really too much of a coincidence that Kevin and Gwen are having a plot about a dance/date while Ben has this pregnancy plot that is unrelated. It was probably thought up as one single plot of Ben having a date but censored into this Asexual thing.
Ah yeah, an episode I've been looking forward to! Big Chill is a blank slate for Ben's mind to inhabit like his other transformations, it's just that the Necrofriggian birth cycle is so strong for him to resist, even when he wasn't Big Chill.
The offspring are really cute and it's been stated by one of the creators that Kenny, (Ben's son), has potentially met his alien siblings. Also once again, Eric is the only one who can use logic and reasoning properly in the group.
For other Ben 10 fans out there who are curious. Eric is right, it's not another ghostfreak situwation, it's big chills hormonal insinks. Also I believe one of the showrunners confirmed that Azmuth patched the omnitrix so this couldn't happen again

My guilty pleasure episode! It reminded me of ‘Ghostfreaked Out’ only to be surprised that it was the opposite and nothing dangerous. I loved that concept in this episode! I can’t deny that I found Big Chill’s offspring so adorable as a teen and I even wanted a plushie of them! 😍💙

Eric is right. The recalibrated Omnitrix has a feature that downloads a species' instincts into Ben's head when he transforms into them and that includes reproductive instincts.
If I didn't know these guys any better I might assume they prewatched. "He should have frozen the water!" "He just starts eating the kids." "He spits out a piece of metal." "Maybe he needs to lay eggs." They could have written this episode lmao
Ok this how the omnitrix transformation sequence/Process works. Everytime ben transforms he is Still himself, his DNA transforms but he is still ben, and yes these aliens aren't actual people except for Ghostfreak, the DNA was sampled from the race allowing ben to turn into that species relative his age, and there are aliens that can affect his behavior because certain traits are stronger connected to how certain species might behave, like Big Chill, what Eric said is actually correct, the DNA encoded instincts do take over. Because one of the purposes of the omnitrix was to understand other species and walk a mile in their shoes.
Spoilers I can imagine this also happens with Rath, Grey Matter, Brainstorm, SpiderMonkey, Jury Rigg, probably Wildmutt and some others i can’t remember

This is one of those episodes I watched as a kid and was like “Aw that’s cute.” But now as an adult I see this and am like “Wait who got Ben pregnant?!”
Yeah my understanding is more with Eric. We notice Ben take on part of each alien's persona in some way (spider-monkey is i think a great example), i think Big Chill's motherly instincts are just overwhelmingly powerful (cartoon sending a message type thing). Besides Ben as Ben experiences some of the symptoms as well as near the end having the instincts take over not his alien form as it is time for the birthing.

Canonically those were indeed instincts and not a separate personality and often further in the show it is considered a failure of omnitrix if alien transformations have a will of their own as they HAVE to be Ben and shouldn't take over ben
Though Ben is often the primary identity and the most of the aliens are blank slates, i love how there are some aliens (Ghost freak, Big Chill, & Alien X) have their own innate biological instinct/will
Here's my take on the Big Chill argument: The reason why Ghost Freak was conscious in the Omnitrix was because his species specifically have their consciousness residing in every piece of their DNA. So when he was sampled his consciousness came along with it. I think in Big Chill's case there was no Big Chill consciousness taking over. I think his species normally lose control of themselves and prioritize preparing for reproduction every 80 years. Since when Ben transforms he gains the biology of the alien, those hormones take over and he loses control. So its not a separate Big Chill controlling Ben. Its Necrofriggian hormones taking over. The every 80 years thing could be explained by the lifespan of different alien species and how the omnitrix translates that to Ben. The fact that they reproduce EVERY 80 years implies the Necrofriggians are very long lived. And the omnitrix will transform the user into the species at an age approximate to the user's relative age. Remember when Ben turned into a toddler and his aliens all turned younger? Or when Ben 10000's aliens looked different? That means when 15 year old Ben transforms, his aliens are the equivalent of human adolescents. This probably means that an adolescent Necrofriggian is about 80 years old, around the time they first reproduce which makes a lot of sense since adolescence is when you begin sexually maturing. As far as him unconsciously transforming and acting weird as a human that could either be the omnitrix itself prioritizing the reproduction to get it over with or remaining hormonal effects in Bens human form (remember his injuries stay after transformation, the same could be said for this). The transformations are blank slates for Ben's mind to inhabit when he transforms. Ghostfreak is a special case cause their conciousness can still inhabit with a few strands of DNA. Not all ghost type aliens are the same, Big Chill is Ben and the reproduction cycle kickstarts his maternal instincts. It's not a separate personality or a different person, that is just Ben being more maternal it affects him.
I highly recommend watching the Ink Tanks’ “And Beyond” Series sometime. They do deep dives into Ben’s aliens home worlds and explain a lot, there’s a big chill episode, and explains this ep pretty well.
Ah, yes this episode. I always think it's cool when Ben's aliens are explored in more ways than just their powers and abilities. Also, I don't always memorize the specific names of the alien species that Ben turns into but I think necrofriggian is one of my favorites. It just sounds so cool, no pun intended!
Ghost Freak was a conscious being named Zs'Skayr trapped in Omnitrix because there's consciousness in every part of an Ectonurite's DNA. Big Chill is a form Ben transforms into. The Little Chills are Ben's kids but Necrofriggian are independent when they are born and they sure don't have child support laws and stuff. Ben and Big Chill are the same person, Ben was just acting on his Necrofriggian biology's instincts. Fun fact that's not talked about in any of the shows: Ghost Freak was not supposed to be in Omnitrix because azmuth knew what would happen. The Ectonurite DNA got added by accident because the Florauna (Wildvine) that got scanned for Omnitrix was possessed by Zs'Skayr at the moment.
Well Ben's kids have both ben's DNA in the form of Big Chill's DNA (transformed state) And Bens Aliens are not separate people....they are just Ben changing into his version of that specific species .... That's the point of the transformation scenes .... where Ben's bones, muscle, skin gets altered. Its not like Shazam where he temporarily gets access to a different body. And the whole part of taking over consciousness is part of the ‘natural instinct’ of the alien to reproduce or just a glitch of omnitrix. But since the completed omnitrix (omniverse omnitrix) didn’t portrayed such features so I would assume azmuth removed the reproduction feature but I would also like to think Ben can still turn this feature on if he wants.
So if I got it right, when Ben first transformed into Big Chill, it just happened to be at the time when it was supposed to reproduce. So when he transformed back, the parental instincts stuck with him and he kept transforming back into Big Chill to complete the birthing or egg laying. If Ben having a cold can affect his alien forms, why can't it happen in the opposite direction?
There’s been multiple fan made crossovers where Kenny (Ben’s son) and big chill’s babies meet, because technically they’re siblings. Ben should make a list of aliens that are soon to reproduce, just in case it ever happens again 😂
Besides Ghostfreak which was it's own special thing ben is just transforming his body into the body of these other aliens and sometimes being an alien which affect his personality I agree with what you said it's almost Animal instinct that affects his personality it is still been just with some slight alterations since instead of normal human hormones other human stuff affecting him and it's currently the aliens species affecting him ( you can almost take it as a nature vs nuture for your personality and the nature aspect changes with each alien while the nuture is still ben) and during bigchills pregenecy I think the hormones just took control
Spoiler alert: Blind wave your questions about how Big chill took over Ben 10 will be answered later but if you want to understand now here's how it works. There is a function inside the Omnitrix which give user access to knowledge and instinct of every alien species. Which is why ben seems to know how to fight despite have never seen whatever new alien that pops out of Omnitrix because the Omnitrix isn't just on his arm it bonded with his DNA. So he also has the knowledge and instinct of Big chill in human form so when it was time for it's birthing cycle Big chill took over to transform. There are also other alien instincts and personalities that will override Ben's throughout the series this is just a basic understanding of what's going on with ben.
The answer is far simpler. This is just a thing that happens to Necrofriggians. Ben is a Necrofriggian, so this happens to him. It's biological. We already know Ben's biology is tied to that of his aliens. This just elaborates on how thorough that link is.
THIS IS NOT A SPOILER BTW because this was revealed in the OG show: Guys!!!! Eric is completely correct. Ghost freak's body isn't his original body. His single strand of DNA carried consciousness, while all of the other genetic makeup was from other ghost freaks (can't remember the species name). Because of this, he was trapped in the omnitrix and was able to take control of ben's transformation. Every transformation is unique to Ben. Big chill is Ben's own necrofriggian body.
Ben and Big chill are the same, just like any other transformation, Ben’s DNA is used as a basis for the aliens; it was all instinctual. The aliens, aside from Ghostfreak, they’re “blank slates”, like with albedo, he turned into a human and that human was Ben but he’s still Albedo.
The way I see it, Ben was in control he just blacks out at the end so he doesn't remember. Kind of like what can happen if you get too drunk. My reasoning for that is mostly from Big Chill still being a pacifist and doing the bare minimum with Julie. It's still Ben, he's just running on alien mama hormones.
It has been shown that Omnitrix can tack control of Ben,s body when his arm was cut of in season 2 may be the same thing happened cause Ben suddenly lost control on him self and became bigchill
to talk about breeding ghost pokemon, my guess is, some human or some pokemon dies and became the first of said species and from that point onward it is a new pokemon that can breed normally but can also be made by a soul. like thantump can breed but also a kid dying in a forest can also become thantump

Now more than 1 alien has officially gone off the reservation. It's now good to mention there are a dozen handful of aliens that can change/take over Ben's mind and personality
Ben's DNA is always at least partially in his transformations. The DNA sample is a template for which the user's attributes, such as age, gender/sex, clothing, etc. are applied to. This is why Gwen's aliens in the Gwen 10 episode took on different appearances, and especially noteworthy is the fact Grey Matter and Four Arms had her hair. Probably the most evident example, at least from where you guys are currently, would be Alien X, where Ben's entire being is actively pulled into Alien X's headspace, his human DNA a part of the Celestialsapien (Alien X's species) body in a sense. Granted, Necrofriggians are a genderless species, so the gender/sex aspect doesn't count for him, but the other attributes would still apply, making Big Chill still partly Ben.
This discussion is so frustrating to listen to, Eric is clearly correct. The aliens are Ben. Im so confused about how Calvin and Aaron are so confident about something that is clearly wrong.
Ghostfreak from OG Ben 10 was a separate being from Ben and eventually broke free of the watch, not a big leap to assume that other aliens could have a form of sentience while still inside the watch.

We had the albeto episode that set up the idea that we can tell if the alien is Ben or not because Ben is the only one who shouts the names after transforming, albeto didn’t do it. During the albeto episode Eric even says “it can’t be him, he’s not saying his name” after albeto become big chill. This episode uses that pre set up idea by continuing to have Ben shout “Big chill” every time he becomes big chill to reinforce the idea that this is still Ben, or at least that’s how I understand it.

Here's my take on the Big Chill argument: The reason why Ghost Freak was conscious in the Omnitrix was because his species specifically have their consciousness residing in every piece of their DNA. So when he was sampled his consciousness came along with it.
I think in Big Chill's case there was no Big Chill consciousness taking over. I think his species normally lose control of themselves and prioritize preparing for reproduction every 80 years. Since when Ben transforms he gains the biology of the alien, those hormones take over and he loses control. So its not a separate Big Chill controlling Ben. Its Necrofriggian hormones taking over.
The every 80 years thing could be explained by the lifespan of different alien species and how the omnitrix translates that to Ben. The fact that they reproduce EVERY 80 years implies the Necrofriggians are very long lived. And the omnitrix will transform the user into the species at an age approximate to the user's relative age. Remember when Ben turned into a toddler and his aliens all turned younger? Or when Ben 10000's aliens looked different? That means when 15 year old Ben transforms, his aliens are the equivalent of human adolescents. This probably means that an adolescent Necrofriggian is about 80 years old, around the time they first reproduce which makes a lot of sense since adolescence is when you begin sexually maturing.
As far as him unconsciously transforming and acting weird as a human that could either be the omnitrix itself prioritizing the reproduction to get it over with or remaining hormonal effects in Bens human form (remember his injuries stay after transformation, the same could be said for this).

The transformations are blank slates for Ben's mind to inhabit when he transforms. Ghostfreak is a special case cause their conciousness can still inhabit with a few strands of DNA.
Not all ghost type aliens are the same, Big Chill is Ben and the reproduction cycle kickstarts his maternal instincts. It's not a separate personality or a different person, that is just Ben being more maternal it affects him.

Ah, yes this episode. I always think it's cool when Ben's aliens are explored in more ways than just their powers and abilities. Also, I don't always memorize the specific names of the alien species that Ben turns into but I think necrofriggian is one of my favorites. It just sounds so cool, no pun intended!

Ghost Freak was a conscious being named Zs'Skayr trapped in Omnitrix because there's consciousness in every part of an Ectonurite's DNA. Big Chill is a form Ben transforms into. The Little Chills are Ben's kids but Necrofriggian are independent when they are born and they sure don't have child support laws and stuff. Ben and Big Chill are the same person, Ben was just acting on his Necrofriggian biology's instincts.
Fun fact that's not talked about in any of the shows: Ghost Freak was not supposed to be in Omnitrix because azmuth knew what would happen. The Ectonurite DNA got added by accident because the Florauna (Wildvine) that got scanned for Omnitrix was possessed by Zs'Skayr at the moment.

Well Ben's kids have both ben's DNA in the form of Big Chill's DNA (transformed state)
And Bens Aliens are not separate people....they are just Ben changing into his version of that specific species .... That's the point of the transformation scenes .... where Ben's bones, muscle, skin gets altered. Its not like Shazam where he temporarily gets access to a different body.
And the whole part of taking over consciousness is part of the ‘natural instinct’ of the alien to reproduce or just a glitch of omnitrix. But since the completed omnitrix (omniverse omnitrix) didn’t portrayed such features so I would assume azmuth removed the reproduction feature but I would also like to think Ben can still turn this feature on if he wants.

Big Chill Gives Birth
The kids have green eyes like Ben, so they have Ben's DNA. Every Ben's alien has green eyes and another aliens don't.
So if I got it right, when Ben first transformed into Big Chill, it just happened to be at the time when it was supposed to reproduce. So when he transformed back, the parental instincts stuck with him and he kept transforming back into Big Chill to complete the birthing or egg laying.
If Ben having a cold can affect his alien forms, why can't it happen in the opposite direction?

Besides Ghostfreak which was it's own special thing ben is just transforming his body into the body of these other aliens and sometimes being an alien which affect his personality I agree with what you said it's almost Animal instinct that affects his personality it is still been just with some slight alterations since instead of normal human hormones other human stuff affecting him and it's currently the aliens species affecting him ( you can almost take it as a nature vs nuture for your personality and the nature aspect changes with each alien while the nuture is still ben)

Spoiler alert: Blind wave your questions about how Big chill took over Ben 10 will be answered later but if you want to understand now here's how it works. There is a function inside the Omnitrix which give user access to knowledge and instinct of every alien species. Which is why ben seems to know how to fight despite have never seen whatever new alien that pops out of Omnitrix because the Omnitrix isn't just on his arm it bonded with his DNA. So he also has the knowledge and instinct of Big chill in human form so when it was time for it's birthing cycle Big chill took over to transform. There are also other alien instincts and personalities that will override Ben's throughout the series this is just a basic understanding of what's going on with ben.
The answer is far simpler. This is just a thing that happens to Necrofriggians. Ben is a Necrofriggian, so this happens to him. It's biological. We already know Ben's biology is tied to that of his aliens. This just elaborates on how thorough that link is.
THIS IS NOT A SPOILER BTW because this was revealed in the OG show: Guys!!!! Eric is completely correct. Ghost freak's body isn't his original body. His single strand of DNA carried consciousness, while all of the other genetic makeup was from other ghost freaks (can't remember the species name). Because of this, he was trapped in the omnitrix and was able to take control of ben's transformation. Every transformation is unique to Ben. Big chill is Ben's own necrofriggian body.

Ben and Big chill are the same, just like any other transformation, Ben’s DNA is used as a basis for the aliens; it was all instinctual. The aliens, aside from Ghostfreak, they’re “blank slates”, like with albedo, he turned into a human and that human was Ben but he’s still Albedo.
The way I see it, Ben was in control he just blacks out at the end so he doesn't remember. Kind of like what can happen if you get too drunk.
My reasoning for that is mostly from Big Chill still being a pacifist and doing the bare minimum with Julie. It's still Ben, he's just running on alien mama hormones.

Now more than 1 alien has officially gone off the reservation. It's now good to mention there are a dozen handful of aliens that can change/take over Ben's mind and personality
Ben's DNA is always at least partially in his transformations. The DNA sample is a template for which the user's attributes, such as age, gender/sex, clothing, etc. are applied to. This is why Gwen's aliens in the Gwen 10 episode took on different appearances, and especially noteworthy is the fact Grey Matter and Four Arms had her hair. Probably the most evident example, at least from where you guys are currently, would be Alien X, where Ben's entire being is actively pulled into Alien X's headspace, his human DNA a part of the Celestialsapien (Alien X's species) body in a sense. Granted, Necrofriggians are a genderless species, so the gender/sex aspect doesn't count for him, but the other attributes would still apply, making Big Chill still partly Ben.

I guess it’s unfair of me to make the claim that it’s clearly Ben, i just thought the name shouting thing made it obvious.
We had the albeto episode that set up the idea that we can tell if the alien is Ben or not because Ben is the only one who shouts the names after transforming, albeto didn’t do it.
During the albeto episode Eric even says “it can’t be him, he’s not saying his name” after albeto become big chill.
This episode uses that pre set up idea by continuing to have Ben shout “Big chill” every time he becomes big chill to reinforce the idea that this is still Ben, or at least that’s how I understand it.
With this, Ben has created a timeline where his future son will have Necrofriggian siblings
