No one else has mentioned this but be careful about visa restrictions if you're planning on travelling to the US. ICE has announced that they will not be allowing international students into the US unless they have an I20 (associated with student visa) that specifically states the student will be taking in-person courses. Even if borders open up unless ICE changes this policy unfortunately you won't be allowed to study in the states despite enrolled at a US institution. Hopefully the Harvard-MIT lawsuit reverses the changes, but right now it looks like you won't be able to study on campus at any point in the fall and maybe even spring
Yes but she'll still be able to go to the USA for 3 months on an ESTA visa with no issues as a British citizen which is the length of the Spring term.. Congrats girl!! xxx

I don't know, the biggest thing about Harvard is the connections you make there. Full tuition for online learning seems a bit much. Of course, it's better than an average institution, but 50,000 grand for a semester?

I went to watch back the original video on your dilemmna and you seemed very keen on deferring it including some of the comments saying not to go for it. So im surprised to see you decided to take the offer which is what I would've done honestly. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity and you never know if you could've missed out on it the next time. Also, if you are pursuing this for the next few years the school is bound to open up again so eventually you'd be able to experience the in-person experiences anyways. Happy for your decision. :)

Admissions next year is going to be brutal. Right now, I'm on my gap year and tbh it's not fun during Corona. I was planning on doing several internships but everything is cancelled. Furthermore, whether your degree is online or partially online, no one will ever say, "well, your harvard degree is worth less because it was online", either way, online or in person or both, it's a wonderful opportunity. I really hope you get to go to the US for the spring semester!!!

AMAZING! I don't know how anyone can be disappointed with you, you're going to HARVARD! I was going through with my masters in London (I'm from the US) and I was about to do the same thing about getting a house and studying on campus. I really want to do my program and learn all I can even considering the circumstances. I really want to leave though so I hope for everyone in this situation, it turns out well.

YES VEE! omg, so you're going to harvard! this is definitely what I wanted. I was so split when you first came out with this dilemma and I was going back and forth with what I think you should do but then I finally settled on going ahead and doing it. The fact that you go into harvard by itself is an accomplishment but your dream was to attend Harvard. Many other people dream that, many other people work hard for it, and you got it so I think you should absolutely take it up. Obviously it's not going to be in person (as of now) but who knows things could change, and even if they don't, you can always do another masters in person somewhere else after the pandemic, and it's sort of the best of both worlds. You get your Harvard degree with distinction and the in-person American university experience you always wanted. Anyway I could say a ton more but I'm so happy that you're happy that you've arrived at this decision. I don't know why I became so personally involved (maybe it's because I'm a black girl with big dreams and living vicariously through you) but congrats!

I commented on your video and generally felt that it wasn't worth going as university is about the experience. It seems like a lot of the unknowns (such as the fees, and how much of the course is online vs in person) have become clear to you since then, and I'm so glad that it's worked in your favour. I think if you'd have presented these in your first video I would have originally said you should accept the offer. My gap year turned into a gap of 6-7 years. I only started studying now at the age of 24 and it is really hard to get into that mindset of studying again. Anyone planning on taking a gap year, just try to not wait too long and just work towards a plan! You are never to old to start studying, but it is a bit easier doing it directly after school as you are already in that mindset. But each life has its own demands en challenges, its up to us to plan it as best to our abilities and needs. Very excited about your decision! Looking forward to following your journey! AMAZING! I don't know how anyone can be disappointed with you, you're going to HARVARD! I was going through with my masters in London (I'm from the US) and I was about to do the same thing about getting a house and studying on campus. I really want to do my program and learn all I can even considering the circumstances. I really want to leave though so I hope for everyone in this situation, it turns out well.

YES VEE! omg, so you're going to harvard! this is definitely what I wanted. I was so split when you first came out with this dilemma and I was going back and forth with what I think you should do but then I finally settled on going ahead and doing it. The fact that you go into harvard by itself is an accomplishment but your dream was to attend Harvard. Many other people dream that, many other people work hard for it, and you got it so I think you should absolutely take it up. Obviously it's not going to be in person (as of now) but who knows things could change, and even if they don't, you can always do another masters in person somewhere else after the pandemic, and it's sort of the best of both worlds. You get your Harvard degree with distinction and the in-person American university experience you always wanted. Anyway I could say a ton more but I'm so happy that you're happy that you've arrived at this decision. I don't know why I became so personally involved (maybe it's because I'm a black girl with big dreams and living vicariously through you) but congrats!

This is your decision Vee, it's only going affect you, so anyone else's input should never change what you feel is right. It doesn't matter what the 50% thinks, you made a decision and you've comfortable with it, and that's all that matters
I commented on your video and generally felt that it wasn't worth going as university is about the experience. It seems like a lot of the unknowns (such as the fees, and how much of the course is online vs in person) have become clear to you since then, and I'm so glad that it's worked in your favour. I think if you'd have presented these in your first video I would have originally said you should accept the offer. Congratulations, I'm glad you've managed to find some happiness in this topsy turvy year, and good luck!

My gap year turned into a gap of 6-7 years. I only started studying now at the age of 24 and it is really hard to get into that mindset of studying again. Anyone planning on taking a gap year, just try to not wait too long and just work towards a plan! You are never to old to start studying, but it is a bit easier doing it directly after school as you are already in that mindset. But each life has its own demands en challenges, its up to us to plan it as best to our abilities and needs. Very excited about your decision! Looking forward to following your journey!
