Even if you want to believe she might not be academically inclined, its her motivation which will allow her to blossom and grow in her own time

No one else has mentioned this but be careful about visa restrictions if you're planning on travelling to the US. ICE has announced that they will not be allowing international students into the US unless they have an I20 (associated with student visa) that specifically states the student will be taking in-person courses. Even if borders open up unless ICE changes this policy unfortunately you won't be allowed to study in the states despite enrolled at a US institution. Hopefully the Harvard-MIT lawsuit reverses the changes, but right now it looks like you won't be able to study on campus at any point in the fall and maybe even spring
YES THIS. Please be aware of this, Vee! It shouldn't change your decision but just be aware of it so you know what potential outcomes to expect.
Yes but she'll still be able to go to the USA for 3 months on an ESTA visa with no issues as a British citizen which is the length of the Spring term.. Congrats girl!! xxx
It sounds as though she'll be taking the classes online? That said I agree with you, Harvard's plans as of not do not meet ICE's new requirements. Let's hope the lawsuit goes well -- this is 100% a political move by the Trump Administration.
Is it? It says Jan 25 to May 15 on their website. Plus with the additional Summer event she mentioned, that will far exceed 90 days?

I don't know, the biggest thing about Harvard is the connections you make there. Full tuition for online learning seems a bit much. Of course, it's better than an average institution, but 50,000 grand for a semester?

i was one of the people that was rooting for you to take a gap year and reapply, but given all the changes that have happened and just your attitude towards it i think that you made the right decision by sticking with it!!! i'm so excited for you and i hope that you can manage to get on campus at some point!!! x

Even if I don't agree with the decision I can see how happy you are and in the end that's all that matters. I mean, it's your life we're all here to support you and follow along your journey of life no matter where you do your studies, simply because of you're personality and who you are. I'm one of the people who recommended that you re-apply, however nobody can deny the power that having both Oxford and Harvard under you belt will create for you, online or not. I'm happy that you're secure in your decision and all that matters is that you proceed with no regrets. I really do love seeing a fellow black woman succeed. All the best!💋

I know I'm late but I still want to say congratulations and I'm very happy for you! I admire you so much for going for what you want and not letting things scare you off. You're my inspiration! (I just dropped out of uni and applied for another school to do something completely different. I hope I'll get in but even if I don't I'm already so much happier!)
YES VEE! omg, so you're going to harvard! this is definitely what I wanted. I was so split when you first came out with this dilemma and I was going back and forth with what I think you should do but then I finally settled on going ahead and doing it. The fact that you go into harvard by itself is an accomplishment but your dream was to attend Harvard. Many other people dream that, many other people work hard for it, and you got it so I think you should absolutely take it up. Obviously it's not going to be in person (as of now) but who knows things could change, and even if they don't, you can always do another masters in person somewhere else after the pandemic, and it's sort of the best of both worlds. You get your Harvard degree with distinction and the in-person American university experience you always wanted. Anyway I could say a ton more but I'm so happy that you're happy that you've arrived at this decision. I don't know why I became so personally involved (maybe it's because I'm a black girl with big dreams and living vicariously through you) but congrats!

I went to watch back the original video on your dilemmna and you seemed very keen on deferring it including some of the comments saying not to go for it. So im surprised to see you decided to take the offer which is what I would've done honestly. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity and you never know if you could've missed out on it the next time. Also, if you are pursuing this for the next few years the school is bound to open up again so eventually you'd be able to experience the in-person experiences anyways. Happy for your decision. :)
