    Make them produce a warrant. I allowed a police officer in my home ONCE because "I had nothing to hide" and almost went to jail for it. When I asked him to leave, he called for backup and refused. Told me he was going to arrest me because I started to video record how I was being treated and was upset at being talked down to in my own home. I will never allow a policeman into my home without a warrant ever again because the one time I did, I was punished for it. Fool me twice... shame on me.
    "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

      Na they will force themselves in and lie about it in court saying them smelled marijuana if you open the door holler out the window. The cops will always lie and say they detected the odor of marijuana to illegally search anyone. Illegal searchs of people who didn't have marijuana on them have been held up in court because of the unverifiable probable cause the cop can claim. It's a horrible system.
      Don't open the door just hollar at them to kick the door down if they have warrant you are unarmed and your hands are up.

      There is MUCH MUCH more to know to be considered awake, then how to deal with police at your door. It is hard, because if you are innocent, then not letting them in makes you look guilty, and very likely to be under surveillance from that point...and certainly they would be back. Let them in, show them the veggies, and be done with them. Maybe film the whole thing though, which depending on the police could only bring more trouble to you. Choose wisely, it all depends on if you end up with a bad cop or not. Feel them out and go from there.

    "We got some complaints from your neighbors ." Yeah right . I bet they were doing illegal searches with infrared cameras . There's this guy on youtube that sets up cops using this illegal technique . He sets up a grow room with plastic cannabis plants and cameras everywhere . When crooked cops drive by with these infrared thermal cameras they can clearly see through your walls invading your privacy . This guy caught these cops on camera doing this and they all got fired because they lied to the judge in order to get their search warrant . Pretty satisfying video , you should check it out . It also makes you aware of all the illegal things pigs do that make them think they are above the law .

    An important tip: If cops like this show up at your door for any reason and you're not expecting them and frightened, KEEP YOUR DOOR SHUT and don't answer it! Call 911 first and ask whether they have sent police to your address. There are a lot of bad people who pose as cops so they can get in and rob your place, or in the case of women home alone, rape them. My mother actually had a guy who claimed he was a cop from the local PD come banging on her door with great authority, and saying he was sent to collect on some unpaid bills (which she did have). My mom wasn't stupid and listened to her gut instincts that something was fishy...She didn't go near the door, and called 911. It turned out the guy was a wanted thief. IT'S OK TO DO THIS. The police won't be upset if they are actual cops and you just want to verify it. Well, most of them...usually...pray you don't get rotten pork at your door.

    They didn't have a warrant and they went on a fishing expedition once they were in. You are absolutely right to not give consent because of the odd nature of "fishing expeditions" that commonly occur. This is a nice video to help explain how we can be better citizens. We can ask "Am I being detained?" "Ami I free to go?" When they ask for identification, they don't actually need to see your ID. Just give your full name. Shooting video is essential nowadays.

    • @Marco-nd1cp
      @Marco-nd1cp 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Pay no attention to the ignorant mother-fuckers who attempt to justify their terror. This is simple: where's the obligation to answer the door?- there is none! its their home, hence them knocking. Point#2: This is easy to solve, just ask for proof on what grounds that they can even enter the home without consent? Point#3 I believe the burden of proof is with the party who makes the claim (sarc, because it is actually a fact) Without a warrant, it would most certainly require evidence of wrong doing... to enter the home, and if a warrant or evidence of wrong doing is NOT present, then consent would be the ONLY WAY LEFT TO ENTER THE HOME. And regardless of how they enter, growing cannabis isn't unlawful anyway. You see, that's all legal bushwa, that the private individual in the confines of his own home is not under any obligation to comply with, and if someone is making a claim to the contrary....then guess what?-PROVE IT ASSHOLE!

    • @Marco-nd1cp
      @Marco-nd1cp 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Oh, another point. Should they enter by force or threat, because of some presumption, then that would be bad for them. Just kindly take their names/contact info, and file a claim of your own in the proper jurisdiction for damages/trespassing/assault....what-have-you. Stand in truth people, otherwise a bleak future awaits. Remember, everything is done in increments, slowly but surely. The lower level courts, the scum lawyers and cops who stand for corruption, who refuse to relent from their swindling tactics, have slowly worked their way into this pathetic collective mindset, and have everybody believing that the corporate code applies. Well, it doesn't, so where's all that money going huh? do the words civil forfeiture ring a bell you fuckers...

  • @otherpatrickgill
    @otherpatrickgill 6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    Firstly, I just want to say that cannabis is an amazing medicinal plant and I support its legalisation 100%
    Secondly, I was once stopped by the police for buying a tarragon plant at a nursery.
    I had it in a pot, walking down a main road in the middle of the day, having come out of the nursery.
    It had a sticker on the side of the pot saying "culinary herbs tarragon" with some growing instructions and I still needed to spend about 20 minutes explaining to them that I wasn't smuggling drugs.
    The way I think it works is that police are like watch dogs, they don't think much, but they are very good at seeing someone who is different and making a huge racket, sometimes violently attacking the person for looking different, behaving differently or something like that.
    People who grow their own food are seen as antisocial - why, I don't know other than that they are different.
    perhaps you have some thoughts on why police like to target people who grow stuff?

    Doctors still were not trained in nutrition in med school by the mid-1960s. My grandmother ran the UofW Hospital kitchen for over 30 years & ran the "Women's Studies Program" when women returned to college after WWII. Three of her daughters taught Nutrition at major universities, after volunteering years of their time and experience in missionary work to Haiti in the 1950s. The point is that you were fortunate to have survived such a "dumb" time in our history of training our doctors. I can tell you, as a retired Medical Record Administrator, millions did not. I happen to see your video on the 50th anniversary of the Detroit "riots". It was actually a rebellion against the loss of privacy and community in the neighborhood caused by decisions made by people not directly impacted by those decisions. Finally, enough was enough. The only available tracks were to hide or to rebel. Now, young people like you have the very best opportunity to help fix our government. Our current legislators are "aging out". That's not saying that they are not still slick, experienced and intelligent, but that you have the gift of a new point of view. Usually your point of view is not compromised by pre-judgements. You do not understand the situation most of the time it really is never the neighbor that complains, but an officer looking for something. That is their excuse to hope that you will let them in to search your property so they can find something to bust you on. I have had it happen to me where I was outside at night on my own property, and a helicopter flew over. Next thing the police show up saying that they had a report of a prowler. I`ve lived in the same small neighbourhood for over twenty years and neighbours have been grassing on each other to various organisations regularly.One slimy neighbour tried to get a public footpath moved onto his neighbour`s property.He wrote to the Local Council but didn`t bank on them providing a copy on demand to that neighbour.They looked through their xmas cards and matched the handwriting.That`s just one example of six I can immediately recall.
      Also some postal delivery people are grasses and other people who call,and friends and relatives of neighbours,who love to stir up the proverbial.I could write a book on it.
      I had to call the cops because a mad ex-army neighbour was defacing my property and trying to steal my clearly defined land and threatening to kill me(all recorded).Cop was friends with neighbour`s daughter,so you can guess what happened there.Neighbour is a Walter Mitty story teller with no gainful life and flips what he does wrong to accuse others of the same.A real psychologist`s dream.

    People need to understand their rights. You never ever let the police into your house unless they have a warrant. They can yell at you and come up with all kinds of BS but if they have no warrant they can't come into your house. Letting them into your house can only harm you, regardless of whether you are doing anything wrong or not.

    Hate to say it but the constitution really doesn't apply much today. Sadly. And, in many states that don't have a lot of water or it's to expensive, the government is now stepping in and telling and arresting people for collecting rain water on their own property!!!!!! This is getting bad folks. The big bro wants TOTAL control of us. Why do you think they are pushing for autonomous vehicles? So we lose our privilege to drive and move about freely.

      tnick2 That's what happens when you sell raw milk in California without a licence, then skip out on your friend who paid your bond using his house for collateral. Who then helps/hires bail agents to arrest you for it.
      I do not agree with needing a licence to sell raw milk, but breaking the law is breaking the law and not showing up to court is asking for an arrest.
      With the raids, they do the same thing to pot growers and moonshine sellers. It may just be milk, but as far as the law is concerned it is a dangerous product and selling it without a license is on par with dealing drugs... plus it's California, they've managed to keep electing the same type of people election after election and somehow expect things to change, but in reality these tyrannical laws will just become more numerous until they stop electing these people and stop voting in laws that restrict freedoms.

    You're lucky they actually knocked, many aren't so lucky. If they executed a no-knock warrant, which in this day and age is HIGHLY likely, the SWAT team would've trashed your place. They would've seized all of your equipment until their "investigation" was complete, which is code word for never. There is simply no oversight of these police departments whatsoever. Each one is essentially a private barony with its own special rules and customs. It's so bad that in 2013, the federal government asked the 18,000 independent police departments for statistics on the use of force, the information they received was useless. Very few responded, and most provided useless information, but many large departments simply refused. We can't even ask how many times our police used force against citizens.

    As a self-sufficiency gardener, I too watch John's videos for gardening advice. I do NOT watch them to hear about about illegal search-and-seizure raids by police conducted without warrants, and yet here one is. Our country is now following the same slippery sloped path to being an economically collapsed socialist police state that Germany and Austria followed under Hitler's National Socialism, somewhat under Bush but far more so now under Obama.

      Actually......
      It was the Soviet Union under Stalin in 1932-33 who deliberately caused the Ukrainian Holodomor where 1.5 million Ukrainians(men,women,children,old) were unmercifully starved to death.
      It had absolutely nothing to do with Hitler.
      The literal definition of the word "Holodomor" means 'Death by forced starvation' (Ukrainian)
      The brainwashed soviet red armies would not only search but confiscate all the food crops, livestock and farm equipment (to feed his brainwashed army and to sell for war equipment)
      John just experienced a very, very, lite version of what MAY come to past for those that are gleefully gullible, complaint & ignorant.
      We cannot let this happen.
      Reverse the process.

    Police are not allowed to search your home without a warrant. They can not get a warrant without some sort of proof that you have done something wrong. If they come to your door treating you as a criminal when you have done nothing wrong simply ask them if they have a warrant. If not tell them to have a nice day and politely close your door.

    • @ksburner01
      @ksburner01 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Rett Goings I'm assuming from your post that they had already performed the search before they got the warrant. That is an illegal search and seizure. USC Title 18 Chapter 109, USC Title 18 Chapter 205 and USC Title 18 Appendix Rule 41 should clear that up for you. If what you said is true I would get an attorney.

    • @ksburner01
      @ksburner01 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rett Goings If they would of entered your house without a warrant the case would of been thrown out in court and those officers could have been fined and/or jailed. Also It is not your word against theirs. Those raids are well documented and video taped on the side of the police. They have to be to protect the police and for evidence purposes. For you to say that your lawyer told you it was your word against theirs tells me one of two things. Either you had a POS attorney or your not telling me the truth.

      They are allowed to search your home if anyone in control of the home gives consent to enter. They're quite skilled at presenting the "question" of consent in a way that doesn't seem like a question to people who don't know any better. It seems this homesitter didn't know how to handle them.

    • @ksburner01
      @ksburner01 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      smith45acp Actually simply letting them in your home does not give them the permission to search your house...they would still need a warrant for that. What letting them in your house does do however is allow them to see what is out in the open. If they see any evidence they can then come back with a warrant. Keep in mind this information was geared towards people that did not commit a crime. If you have committed a crime and they are at your door more than likely they already have evidence and they have a warrant.

    If the officers have a real search warrant they do not need your permission to search the house. So all you need to do is say "I do not consent to any searches" and close the door. If they do have that warrant they will get into your house. If they do not have the warrant and enter anyway then nothing they find can be used against you. Moral of the story: Consent to nothing and terminate all communications. Then the ball is in their field.

      who said anything about kids smoking pot? and you might not know this but there are strains of cannabis now that have pretty much 0 THC, but are high in CBD, which means you get the medical benefit without the high...they are giving CBD oil to children with epilepsy so they dont have to get put in coma's to let their bodies have a break....and when it comes to recreation ofcourse people should be resposible and teach their kids that if you use too young you become dependent and your brain will develop around the drug..same goes for heroin, if you are educated about how terrible heroin and coke can be for people....you dont do them...like most people..and im not saying we should let those who want to do it grow their own, but Portugal started a program where they give addicts heroin and a safe clean place to do it, while being monitored by trained counselors etc.....their addiction rate has dropped dramatically, a long with their petty crime/violent offences...obviously you have to be a addict in the first place for them to let you have it, they arnt just letting anyone have it, things are changing for the better and you need to explore these new ideas

    Sorry, but this isn't an example of "bad cops". As John said, they were simply doing their job. HOWEVER, as to the neighbor who went to the police and told them that John was growing marijuana in his bathroom with no evidence other than their own neurotic fantasies and wildly overactive imaginations, that's a much, MUCH different matter. "Thou shalt not bear false witness" is more than just a neighborly way to behave. That dumbass at the very least filed a false police report and unnecessarily traumatized both John and his housemate. That's a very, very bad person, indeed.

      Al Florida First of all, the “tip” in this case was not anonymous was it? Secondly, I’m sorry, but if I call the police to accuse my neighbor of sexually abusing his dog with no evidence other than I can say with a perfectly straight face that think it must be so, doing so anonymously doesn’t keep it from being a malicious false report. This neighbor had no more reason to suspect that John was growing marijuana in his bathroom than he/she had to suspect that John was growing poppies in his bathroom to make opium or heroin, or that he had a full-blown meth lab set up in his garage - or that he was sexually abusing domesticated animals. Any police department that doesn’t take such a claim seriously - especially from someone in the neighborhood who a reasonable person might think would be in a position to know - frankly isn’t worth a pinch of warmed-over shit. I stand by what John himself said - that he doesn’t blame the police. John’s just too nice a guy to refer to his neighbor as a miserable, pond-scum-sucking, puss-oozing slimebag. Law enforcement has, IMHO, a well-deserved reputation for too often needlessly going overboard with decidedly unheroic heavy-handed tactics, but they didn’t really have much of a choice but to respond to the “tip” of someone cultivating drugs (and to be heavy-handed about it, given the reputations those sorts of folks sometimes have.) Obviously a judge somewhere agreed and issued the necessary warrant. Nope, not a match - the board goes back.

    • @stevesawyersdca
      @stevesawyersdca 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Al Florida You're missing the whole point, getting tangled up in some pointless squabble about the meaning of official police jargon, "tips" vs. "official police reports" and such nonsense. If you can't see the difference between calling the police to report a prowler in the neighborhood or to report actually smelling dope coming from your neighbor's house and seeing a grow light on in the bathroom of a home that has practically every square inch of yard space cultivated with fruits and vegetables to claim that it can only mean that marijuana must be being grown on the property (and then, as you rightly point out, presumably supply police with enough "information" in that regard to make them think getting a warrant and swat team together would be a good idea), I'm afraid mere clues aren't going to help you.

      They probably made that up. If you buy more than a bag or two of 10-10-10 at a time at Home Depot, they will report you as a suspected pot grower. I bought several bags of 10-10-10 for my small corn plot once, and after having read about police slapping a tracking device on a car owned by someone who bought a number of bags of fertilizer, I decided to pay cash for the fertilizer. The cashier tried to get my home address and phone number out of me "in case I needed to return something". I told her the receipt was all I needed, she smiled and realized I was onto her. Home Depot apparently has a company policy of reporting anyone who buys certain quantities of certain types of supplies.
