kenyans never cease to amaze me. today as me and my team of 5 spent the whole day making channels to drain water from our plot and environs,. neighbours who passed by the road saw what were doing and could not keep quiet. some said "oh, so youv'e decided to fight with nature", some said it was useless work, some said they won't join us because it is the work of the government(they will wait for the government to come and fix) but the ones who got me well, are the ones who upon seeing us sweating ourselves off shovelling mud and digging while in calf deep stagnant waters, they laughed like they had never before. i still cannot they laughed at us.
It's ironic I was thinking the same thing. You have to try and do what you can for the area you're in. You just can't sit and wait for the gova or whoever to come and help you. So kudos to you and your friends. We all should do whatever we can.
If there is something you can do don't listen to people do it to safe your life and others good job, at this time you can't wait for the government to rescue you while you can do something .be blessed

Has been wondering the same for years, like they knew El Nino will happen but did nothing, not even a simple plan to harvest all this runaway water like directing it to man made lake, which should be lying idle waiting for all this water, bure kabisa.....

The unfortunate thing is, after the rains, the government will take no action to re- design the roads on the areas affected. Another unfortunate thing is, after this rains, we may experience long drought and this water should be harvested so that this water can be useful during the drought situation

Floods are not new. In Noah's days they were present & he built a ship to escape. These days we have Engineers who are supposed to foresee for us. Why don't we make use of them instead of blaming climate change(CO2& Methane). Absorb & reduce the gases alright but improve on our structures by making use of the skill.
But these rains were predicted. And the president made the meteorological department apologise for that. So it's them to blame.
Stop relating Noah's times with rotten present people. Noah's flood was Godly, present flood is human negligence. How does one build & occupy river banks & expect water to just follow a path like river? How do people expect to block drainages with garbages & expect water to flow over it? Why aren't reserves flooding?
