David absolutely made this video!! I get the appeal of this place, but I have zero interest in paying those prices. $9 for a baguette is okay unless youre going to EPCOT and can get one from Les Halles.
As the risk of sounding like a broken record, DVC Fan has become a favorite source for all things Disney and this video was no exception. Paul and Amy surround themselves with nice, fun people exhancing their content even more.
I can't get past the pricing, especially when Gideons, Summer House on the Lake and Les Halles offer fabulous baked goods at a fraction of the price. Add to that - our son works down the street from the best bakery in the Pittsburgh area and he can buy an entire cake (that is simply divine) for just slightly more than an individual slice costs here. I just can't - even with the Disney price adjustment.
I was there a couple of weeks ago. 2 of us got the red velvet cake, and one of us got one of the brownies. We were all very disappointed. For the price, we expected to be blown away by the taste. The red velvet at Cheesecake Factory and Nothin But Bundt are much better than this red velvet. I was very disappointed and would not order it again. I ended up throwing half of mine away, because it wasn't worth the calories to finish.
I cannot wait to try this. I will even settle for a trip to the bakery and not sit down to eat inside. We’ve been waiting a long time for this beautiful place to open!
We're planning to try it in January. I know they are still working out a few things. No, it won't be a regular stop, but more of an elevated, special meal that serves a healthy dose of ambiance along with the entrees.
We are there on October 29th. I had the Chicken Velvet Soup. It was delicious!. I would definitely get it again and I had the Broccoli Quiche. Also, very good. It is more like a custard then a traditional quiche and oh my goodness the crust was unbelievably delicious! I enjoyed it very much. I was to full to try any of the baked goods. I will go back, though, I do agree with everyone that the prices are a bit high even for Disney standards for a menu of soups, salads and sandwiches. We had two servers Kevin and Tina. They were awesome! I would ask for them again when I go back! I want to definitely try the Afternoon Tea. Like you Paul that was what I was most interested in when they first announced The Cake Bake Shop opening up.
My problem with this place is that they are aiming for “upscale” with pricing in line with signature restaurants, but the entrees are like, sandwiches. With some arugula for a side. I don’t want to pay $35++ for sandwiches even if they are made with great ingredients. The fact that they put out menus and then changed pricing soon after shows me they are just playing around with pricing to see how much they can get, rather than pricing things based on costs (ingredients plus the costs of running the restaurant). Also the prices ending in .99 is just bizarre. Weird.
Just saw on Disney's website. They have posted info about the afternoon Tea. It says the cost is $95.00 plus tax and gratuity for adults. WOW! I guess your server was incorrect about the $89.00 price. Would still love to see a review for it! So, PLEASE Amy and Paul try it and let us know if it is worth $95.00! Thanks!😀
Ate there last week, everything was ice cold when it came to the table. The cakes were great and so were the drinks, but I think they need time to get the kitchen working right.
thank you for the review- I am hoping to go on my solo trip in December. I'm curious as to why you didn't send the soup and tea back and ask that they be warmed? IMO, serving cold food and drinks (especially at these price points) is unexcusable. Yours is not the first vlog that I've seen reporting cold food.
They should have put this in the GF to replace the old afternoon tea space. They would draw children and bridal parties more than the Boardwalk and it fits the esthetic in the GF.
It’s just too expensive for me for the options. Rather do a signature Disney restaurant (ie Topolinos) vs this place. Appreciate the video and the review!!
Chicken Salad? Its like going somewhere and getting Meatloaf I just can't imagine it. The French Onion soup looks burnt (and you said it was cold). Such a waste of a location when you consider all this stuff can likely be found better elsewhere within a short walk. Oh well luckily lots of other options and can skip this place.
Amy & Paul, great review as always! A couple of weeks ago we saw the two of you, plus Amy & Jeff, filming at BCV. Didn't want to interrupt, but I now tell people that was a big highlight of our trip. 🙂 We will try Cake Bake Shop the next trip or two because that's just what we do. I just don't get the location for this. It seems WAY too fancy for BWV. GFV, sure. YC, eh maybe. But BWV? I realize that had the space and maybe that's all it is, but the BW was designed based around Coney Island/Atlantic City,. And CBS is NOT that. Just seems out of place to me. Only my opinion.
As always Paul and Amy, love your video. You two are simply a pleasure to watch. I sat the other day and watched 3 different videos on this new bakery. To put it simply, I was not impressed. For the price, you could probably get the same dish cheaper at another location. The cake slices are waaay to big and I researched and they have NO sugar free options (bad). While the inside of the restaurant is beautiful, we will not be dining there. There are better options. Is anyone else noticing that there are many empty tables in the vloggers videos? (not just Amy and Paul's). It doesn't look like people are beating down the door to dine there... sending love from Ohio..❤
An elevated pricey dining place would be ok if the Boardwalk had other quick service options. They don't. BW is my favorite place to stay but desperately needs a quick service.
The fact that it’s less than half full right after opening, tells you a lot. People have had enough of this obscene price gouging. I’d be surprised if it’s still there this time next year.
I have never been to any establishment that serves pre-steeped tea; even greasy-spoon cafes leave the teabag in! I’d be gobsmacked if I was served that during an afternoon tea experience.
The sliced turkey looks processed to me (I could be wrong). Too much natural lighting for my taste! Personally, I prefer the low lighting of the Cheesecake Factory. I could have done without the digestion lesson...
Thank you for your review. Environmental psychologists call this phenomenon the context effect. The room is quite charming. But that is all. Serving mediocre food at arbitrary prices that bear no relationship to costs is not quality. The pricing is ludicrous, even for a captive audience. If it were great, pricing would not be an issue. Sprinklings of glitter create a fairy tale experience that does not translate to 'quality'. Cold soup, cakes that taste of nothing more than sugar, bland sandwiches, watery tea? Perfect for Disney. The most lauded item in this review, the baguettes, are purchased from another source according to the menu. This is a 'bakery'? In central Indiana, where the shop began, this is not considered a serious restaurant. Grandmothers take their 8 year old granddaughters for an 'experience'. Go somewhere else.
I think if u went and spent ur own money u worked for u may feel differently ur guest didn’t care what anything cost so it not realistic. Great review otherwise❤
Nothing but Over priced simple foods, this will not last long. Not worth the prices on what they are serving it’s a joke. If it’s a fancy restaurant then you don’t serve turkey sandwich.
This place is absolutely NOT worth the prices! I feel like vloggers are speaking so positively about it b/c they don't want to get uninvited from Disney events. Don't get me wrong, the food is good, but for the price absolutely not!
That soup would have gone back to the kitchen 100%. Having said that, I ate at their location in Indiana and it was perfection. I can't wait to eat here. Not sure why all the hate thrown at this place. Disney has plenty of cheaper meals/spots for people that don't want to spend a lot of money. Now there are three sit-down places on the boardwalk and there are three quick service places.
Thank you David for giving us the tea lesson/rant we didnt know we needed
I’m still not over it

Great review! David was a fun addition! Thank you Amy & Paul!

When the all soups came out, you should have sent it back if it was cold no exception. Why do people put up with that.
Thank you for the advice, folks!
David is great and I'd love to see more of him.

Very nice addition to the Boardwalk!
Beautiful decor!

The third wheel was a weird guy but entertaining

Why did you not send it back

Wonderful video! Thanks!
If you are spending that type of money it needs to be 5 star…not cold soup or tea!
It’s just too expensive for me for the options. Rather do a signature Disney restaurant (ie Topolinos) vs this place. Appreciate the video and the review!!
Can't wait to try it in two weeks
I'm Southern. I like sweet iced tea. 😆
Chicken Salad? Its like going somewhere and getting Meatloaf I just can't imagine it.

Awwww say hello next time and don’t worry about interrupting!
You had me at chocolate 🍫 😊
Why do the cakes have so much icing? It’s ridiculous. Far too much sweet around mediocre looking sponge.

Soggy in the lobby
Geez. Not a place I’ll try. I’m not a big sandwich fan and especially not at $30-40. They must have exceedingly high rent prices for their space.
The sliced turkey looks processed to me (I could be wrong). Too much natural lighting for my taste! Personally, I prefer the low lighting of the Cheesecake Factory. I could have done without the digestion lesson...

90$ for tea plus sorry
I think if u went and spent ur own money u worked for u may feel differently ur guest didn’t care what anything cost so it not realistic. Great review otherwise❤
Please, please, please include David in all future restaurant reviews!
Nothing but Over priced simple foods, this will not last long. Not worth the prices on what they are serving it’s a joke. If it’s a fancy restaurant then you don’t serve turkey sandwich.
Despicable Artificial Truffle Flakes brought to you from Doller Jeneral! 😂😂😂
This place is absolutely NOT worth the prices! I feel like vloggers are speaking so positively about it b/c they don't want to get uninvited from Disney events. Don't get me wrong, the food is good, but for the price absolutely not!
Oooh, I love a good chicken salad sandwich. Still sounds pricey, but so happy to hear the food and service live up to it. Can’t wait to try it.

Too expensive 😮
To have “2 weeks tea training” and still get it wrong 😂🫠 the brits won’t be pleased with the tea 🫖😉should be fresh tea leaves for that price point
