      anyway yall missed something, word Vampire is word of Serbian origin and first “Vampire” case that ever occurred was also in Serbia and it was about some dude named Petar Blagojevic that supposedly got out of his grave every night and sucked peoples blood, and people also said that when they dug up his grave his hearth was still beating and when they stabbed him he made some superhuman screaming noise, although i don’t believe this happened i wanted to show people this interesting story

    Currently reading Bram Stoker’s Dracula, and the lore in the book is fascinating. There’s even some vampire lore in that book that we don’t remember, such as a wild rose stalk preventing the vampire from leaving its coffin, they can only transform at noon dawn or dusk, can ride moon beams, and they can actually transform into any for they wish (bat is obvious, but also wolf, and mist)

    Imagine a creature that is, by design, the perfect predator of human beings. Intelligent, cunning, and able to use a human appearance as a form of camouflage to move about undetected. Now imagine that creature is strong as a lion and has to consume it's body weight in blood every night. I think movies and television haven't made vampire anywhere near as frightening as they could be.

      I remember in New Moon [gag] they told the story of how the wolves started when the "cold woman" came to destroy their people. in the movies, as horrible as they were, the actress who played the "cold woman" did a very good job of portraying exactly what you just described in just the few minutes of screen time she had, a vicious animal with human intelligence. just squint so you can't see the glitter 😅

    • @calamar1e320
      @calamar1e320 8 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      I was going to say Wolfen until you said "human". I recommend reading the book or watching the movie though, because that's kind of what it's about: Man's natural predator living in hiding all around him, unseen.

Then, they'd come in, outnumber him and kill him." My Dad's a pretty smart guy.

    Acording to one Eastern European interpretation, vampires and werewolves were one and the same. When a corpse is disrespected or not given a proper burial, it reanimates as a werewolf(a demon), only having a humanoid vampire form if the person was a sinner, therefore gaining the devil's favor, but also the fear of anything holy or pure. I'm pretty sure that these were just motivations to bury everyone upon death.

They finally reach the body and the witch doctor points out the proof at which point the guy who dug the whole looks at the witch doctor and asks. "If he's here now, and he got out earlier. Just one correction, and I know it will sound a little pompous (sorry): the legend of vampires derives from Serbian folklore, not "Eastern European". The story progressed after Dracula (thanks to our dear neighbors Romanians). And, FUN FACT - Vampire (VAMPIR) is actually the only Serbian word that is used worldwide :)

      I agree with you because I'm a Romanian and I know we don't have myths of vampires. We have "strigoi", which don't suck blood(Romanians don't suck). Also, Vlad III Țepeș (the Impaller) and his father Vlad II Dracul (the Devil) were WALLACHIAN, not Transilvanian.

    • @zdravorale
      @zdravorale 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +Razvan Duca Yeah, they didn't suck blood, that's just Hollywood ☺. And, about their origin, most of us from this part of the world know a lot about these things, but what to do, no one asks us 😢. One recommendation: come to Romania for the Dracula tour and neighbouring Serbia to visit the house of the first vampir ever. We are also great for night life (read Belgrade), you blood-sucking-no-daylight-myths lovers. 😃

      I'm not completely sure but as a guess your native demon probably isn't presented as a "vampire" in your stories. I think these variety of bloodsucking creatures in myths around the world, initially unrelated to each other, were later lumped into the category of "vampire" in the modern era. It's kind of like the Chinese "dragon" has nothing in common with the medieval European dragon but these two were lumped into a common category because both were large snake-like creatures.

      @@tapan97I know I’m replying over a year late but I think you’re wrong here because since this video came out I’ve asked around and it seems I was one of few who didn’t know the Lugat was a vampire like creature. Whenever we’re up late at night and see another family member awake the first thing we’ll say is “Çka je qu Lugat?”- “Why have you woken up like a Lugat?” Basically a vampire at night

      @@bletrick3352 quite interesting, thanks for collecting new information.
      But I don't think it proves my conjecture necessarily wrong. It is still possible that the localised folklore in your region developed independently, and only later in the modern age it was discovered that other cultures also had similar myths. At that point it might have been included into the broad concept of the vampire.
      In any case this is all guesswork, so I very much might be wrong. Your information about the Lugat is interesting in providing a look at how localised myths can develop.

      +Miguel Aveiro Yeah but walking out into blurring sunlight after traveling is a pain in the rear. Even Serena has complained about it. And you can't trust other vampires. They'll turn on you, unlike your shield brother/sister.

      Yeah, both of these things are annoying, especially the sunlight. When I progress far enough to get the bow that makes the world go dark, I'll get around that problem, but I like to see sunlight. I don't wanna be in the dark all the time.

    I really, really, REALLY hope vampires AND werewolves get out of the "romance fodder for tweens - 40 year old women" stage and develop into something greater. Maybe in the future, they could be used as a euphemism for fear of how scientific development could get out of control? We're heading for age anyway. Or they could just return to the awesome Van Helsing-style world of action which I personally am dying for!
