Holyoke is a city in Hampden County, Massachusetts, United States, that lies between the western bank of the Connecticut River and the Mount Tom Range. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 39,880. As of 2018, the estimated population was 40,358.

Holyoke was/could be SO beautiful.
Going along thru this video, I am aghast at the number of empty lots, open space, that used to be beautiful apartment buildings factories and businesses.
Looks like Detroit now.... and it isn't cheap to live there.

Jestem z Polski, 20 lat temu mieszkałem w Holyoke na Florence Ave. Tak trafilem na ten film. Kościół, który widać na poczatku to Holy Cross, byłem w nim kilka razy. Znam też sasiednie Spreengfield, Chicopee i South Hadley. I jeszcze chodzilem nad Connecticut River. Good Chanel. pozdrowienia z Polski.

Most of those 39 something thousand are crackheads i would know i grew up here and still am here you passed my street and a rapist live on it by the house is a park where a lot of shooting happened also fights its a dangerous place ngl

Grew up in Holyoke. A lot has changed since I moved from there. I don't recognise much!
We have also lived in the same house for 11+ yrs i have seen so much growing up here lmfao i can probably give more information then there is in this video WAY more i know everywhere you have gone so far and im half way through the video

I heard from a good friend of mine that came up in Holyoke that this is the burnt building capital. Light it up leave and collect the insurance.
If this list was honest:
1. It's a shithole
2. It has the highest crime rate in Massachusetts
3. It's worse than Springfield
4. The parts near Downtown especially close to the Connecticut river are the worst
5. It looks like Bridgeport, Connecticut
6. The Holyoke Projects are terrible
7. There is a lot of poverty
8. There is a high unemployment rate
9. Holyoke is safer than only 4% of the cities in the U.S.
10. It isn't getting any better
11. It looks very poor and run down
12. The housing costs and taxes are high for a city this bad because it's in Massachusetts
13. The closest major city is Springfield which is terrible
14. It borders Chicopee which is very bad
15. It borders West Springfield which is also a very bad town
16. It's very close to Northampton which isn't great, and is only safer than 22 percent of cities in the U.S.
17. There are a lot of run down old mills and factories here
18. The winters get very cold
19. The Flats is probably the worst area
20. The area near the Easthampton border is the nicest area
21. The dinosaur footprints are located here, so that's good
22. There is a mall here
23. Route 91 goes through Holyoke and has a few exits here
24. It's convenient to Springfield.
25. It's a drive up or down Route 91 to Vermont or Connecticut
26. It's far away from Boston
27. THe education system is very bad

From when this video was filmed the area gotten way worse, I was just there and recognize the church tower and that area looks way worse as of yesterday
Adding, the streets were just as dead while I was there as in the video, all the people must come out at night

Looking to move out of Boston and my company has another site in Springfield… had seen some places to rent / buy in the Ingleside area near the high school / the river- what is that area like?
The best place to live in Holyoke is West Holyoke, the Ingleside area has some pretty nice houses, and also the neighborhoods off of Homestead Ave are great. The neighborhoods in front of the High School are pretty good, but maybe stay away from the houses behind the School.

Hardly any people on the streets and not many commercial businesses shown in this video. Malls, hotels ? Does everyone stay in due to the high crime rate?
Holyoke was odd! there was no one out and about when I was making my rounds through town.

You forgot to mention that the city is a dump- literally. The alleys are full of garbage, the people take no pride in their heritage, leaving the train station to rot. Holyoke is a hell-hole.

There's nobody out there what type of crimes?
Yes that's what I noticed.
The crime there is not really normal, the crime that starts there are either from people coming in from Chicopee or spring field or ct, or people coming from p.r or another country, another thing is, every city has its crazy teens, and there is just a lot of over dosing , teens selling weed etc. I was explaining I’m in another state and I’m more afraid to walk over here in daylight than I am to talk there .

Holyoke is odd , there’s really buoy much going on so teens get high in abandoned houses, they meet up at random houses or places , this place seems third world
Low key.
A lot of people don’t have money, so their options for enjoyment are limited . So a lot of people stay to themselves and their immediate families. I grew up there and every chance I got to leave to New York I left . I don’t wish for it to become populated what I wish for Holyoke is to have more active down town similar to noho, more activities for teens and kids . But in order for that to occur you’d have to push out the population around the area. The crime rate isn’t as high as people say, Springfield is worse , but still nothing like the bigger cities. I am on the other side of the country and I’m more afraid to walk here in daylight than I am to walk over there.

Yeah, unfortunately the mall is about the most exciting thing, but other than that it's pretty bland.
Are you from there? Both Holyoke and Chicopee have rich historys and beautiful architecture. Both cities have national historic districts.
