I’m so glad you’re starting a new project. I’ve learned so much from your channel and seriously appreciate all you do. I have twenty acres of ugly right now after leaving a beautiful 10 acres of perfect gardens beautiful trees and a huge pond that disappeared around large lush green hills. We put thirty years of hard work and love into our place and yes It’s a bittersweet that we decided to move away from our home we truly loved and raised four boys in. We have a Hartley going in around June or July, that makes me so excited and the house we just moved into is just beautiful. The land I have no idea what I’m going to do with yet, because we actually just moved in. I had 12 yards of compost delivered, so here we go. That’s not going to go far but I have to start somewhere and I hope in about three years I can start to see this blank canvas come to life. 🙏
How exciting and I can see how daunting it is, hire help if you can, especially get help from a landscape/garden designer first. Best of luck and have fun😀
Give yourself grace you can enjoy your new home and property. It will be an exciting transformation. Good luck!
Starting over will be challenging, but so much fun! Sounds like something you love doing.
That's really exciting. I know how you feel about leaving a property you love. I did the same four years ago. Raised 3 boys in a beautiful home we built on 2ish acres. Feeling the itch to buy property for a family compound where we can watch our grandbabies grow.
Laura, your creative mind always amazes me. This will be another fun and fulfilling project for the GA team. Also, Aaron gets to plant more trees!
I think some lamp lights out at end by path would be nice . Love your idea .
Lighting walkways & gardens & up-lighting trees give a wonderful ambience to the space. Love that look!👍. 🙋
@@betweber266 what a great idea. My word- I didn’t even think of that. Ooooohhhh you are on to something..💜💜
That was so much fun! I’m such a visual person that it is great to see a plan on “paper.” I’m liking the comments about lighting the pathway in some way. That would be so cozy! Thank you for sharing your vision!
I love the way your mind works! So creative & imaginative.
Lampposts would be so quaint and formal, that’s a great idea!
When you sshop for Arbors, I would look for something 7' wide. Remember how much the Collette Roses moved into the walkway in the veggie garden? Give yourself room!
@@cherylharless281 oh good call Cheryl. I forgot about that area on the west side garden. Right at the Elderberry tree that has to be tamed at times.. those Collette roses get soooo big and bushy. Just beautiful.
💯
Great suggestion
I am trying to get back to my life routine. Watching GA is my normal, but I am still struggling. Losing 3 important people in my life in an 18 day time span has set me back, to say the least. I just want to say Thank you! for motivating me to wake up and tune in each morning... baby steps.
DEAR MINDBODYSOIL66...................SENDING 🤎🤎🤎 & 🙏🙏🙏,,,,,,,LOVE & PRAYERS SWEET FRIEND! XOXO, FROM NORTH CAROLINA.
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Definitely baby steps @mindbodysoul66. Having Routines like watching your favorite programming helps to regulate your nervous system & can help you through. Wishing you the very best and sorry for your losses.🙏🏽
I'm so sorry for your loss ❤
@@mindbodysoil66 ooohhh hang in there. I know exactly what you are going through. Not the same time span, but very close. People don’t know what it does to you unless you’ve gone through it. All you do is just take the step outside. Just go out there and shuffle your feet in the dirt if you have it. We are buried under snow right now but if you get to do it. Maybe not even do anything. Just put your feet in there and get your feet dirty and get it in your toes. Mother Nature has a way of healing from the earth and GOD’S got you. No matter what your belief is. You are never alone. Be blessed fellow GA follower. You got this. Kick this day in the face and get er done.. 🌳🌱🌱🌿🌿🌿🌳🌳
Winter garden - love that your mom has already given the space a name. It is going to be so fun watching all this happen. You are a constant inspiration for all your viewers ❤
@@sandidobbs9888 agreed. Sandi, if you ever get the chance to go to Andrew’s seed company and meet her, she is sooo lovely. I absolutely adore her. I hope you get to and if you have, you know…🌳🌳🌳
Like winter garden theme too!
Knowing how much you don’t care for “garden planning” -this was SO FUN to watch and listen to you verbalize your thoughts! It at least gives a person a place to start if they were wanting to “do” a space. Thank you!!
LoL
I was just thinking about the high cost of not planning everything as a whole.
I understand where Laura's coming from, she's creating content, but I would assume most of us don't have that luxury. Most of us, if we're lucky enough, get one shot at it.
Same!!!
Please do a video of you and your mom walking around a talking about garden ideas or more winter interests. We all love Susan!
Laura, would you consider a video on elements of a formal garden? I would love to see gardens that inspire you and/or how you’ve intentionally integrated them into your space. (I.e your hot to create a cottage garden videos)❤⛲️🪴
I love the idea of hydrangeas spilling over boxwoods! It's one of my favorite looks in a garden. This process was so fun to watch!
Great video… can’t wait to see this area come alive.
Good Morning! 💚 This is so much fun being in on the planning process for the Front Flower Bed! The planning is so exciting!! 😃🥰🌿
This is SUCH an important process to show us; I know I always feel overwhelmed when I have a space and don't know what to do with it, or how. You explain the steps, the reasons, and how to accomplish it, and to see it happening really enhances our learning.....BRAVA!
I totally agree and now special software to get start! Thank u
Calling for people to share formal spaces would be inspiring. I loved all the garden entries you have done in the past.
Just saw your mom and sister at the Atlanta Market. Couldn't believe it and your moms so sweet.
I love how you talk through the process of designing your garden. It’s so helpful to have this guide in how to create the structure and then fill it in. I got great ideas
@@marilyns7043 oooohhhh miss Marilyn, I agree. I took out the whole north side of my yard and entry point and it’s coming along. I got many of my ideas from Laura and Aaron (GA) and I am not anyone who needs to be putting a pen to paper on design. Hahaha. But I did and it got the ideas from watching this channel. It only gets better I have to say. ⭐️⭐️⭐️🌿🌿🌱🌱🌳🌳
Me too! I’m going to take photos today! I have been so stuck on developing my new 2 acre property and found this so helpful!
I am excited to see you designing a new space!! As for Wintergarden, I live in Upstate New York, and I design all of my garden spaces for winter, including hard scape, trees, and shrubs. In my mind, the flowering plants are just decoration for the room.
I am super excited to follow along this project this year with you!
I love your ideas for the yard! I think you should do another shopping trip with your Mom & Monica!
A grand handcrafted arbor from the gentleman who welded your stair railing would be an amazing addition? Perhaps mirroring or slightly mirroring the design would give that space that extra wow factor.
Can i just say I’m so excited that you are about to start a new project. Let’s go!!
YAY🎉🎉🎉🎉 We Can Not Wait for this project! We remember you freaking out when the power poles came down & the front yard was completly torn up! This has been a long time coming!! Keeping the formality around the house will be Stunning!!🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
It’s so fun to see you SO excited for this project!! It sure is going to be a delight watching this project evolve💚
Hi Laura, living in Ohio seeing how your weather changes so quickly is amazing to me.. The way you came up with this plan gives me ideas about my front yard. I love watching you and seeing all the interaction twitch the kids being involved and helping warms my heart. The video on your house plants was very helpful. To think you got 11 plants from the one, I never would have thought you could do that! Keep showing us all the different ways to take care and plant it helps us so much. One last thing, your catus plants in the bird bath is awesome!!
Wow! Will you be taking us on the next step, purchasing the shrubs trees, and perennials on a site, as well as the benches, arches, & pots? I would love to see how you select them online, especially how you choose the size.
18:46 Your excitement is so contagious! I cannot believe we get to live vicariously through you?! What a gift! Thank you for sharing so much of your joy and your personal lives with your audience. I guarantee that my life is enriched even though I could never have as nice of things, especially at this scale. You’ve opened up my small world to creativity, splendor, and peacefulness of gardenscaping I never thought possible. TY Laura, Aaron, Ken, Paul, and Bethany!! May you know the impact of your hard work.
Really love this video. The timing is perfect in that you don't usually post on Saturday, so it's given me more time to watch the video more than a couple of times and to read the amazing, inspirational comments of the other viewers. I know renovating the inside and outside of the house is planned for way later but having the walkway leading from the left side to the right side include the cement area where the columns are to expand the seating area there and create cohesion with the walkway would be amazing. Eliminate the stone path arm to the ash tree.
Now would be the perfect opportunity to tie in the walkway on the west side to continue to the east side encircling the ash tree on its final journey to the established hedge to the Persephone area. The new hedge could follow it, thus enclosing the front as you desire with a little more space and not impeding the crabapple space and complementing the lines of the house.
Several viewers commented about lamp posts along the new pathway. For the scale of the house, lamp posts along the entire length of the walkway would give a very grand look.
I also agree with several viewers that it would be really interesting to watch a walkthrough collaboration with Laura and her Mum as part of the planning process. So very excited to see this kick off.
Cannot wait to watch your vision come to life!!! FUN!!
I love that you've let us come with you on working this through your mind!! I was so excited to start gardening a few years ago, and had no idea that I'd be wanting or needing to move things already. Thank you for a good solid way to get the plan started!!
@6:36 did I hear Laura say "You don't want it to be over planted"??? Ive seen that woman put 14 plants in one pot! 🤣
😂
HI Laura. My lavender has given me green/grey winter interest and looks stunning in the summer. Yay. Go all the way along the pathway. Low maintenance. Good little performers. Can't wait. xxx
That is going to be beautiful 😮 love the “rooming it in” idea. It’s a big space. And i know it’s going to feel so cozy in the end. I can picture the evening strolls. Magical
It is ironic that you are placing a brand new white arbor in the same spot that the old white arbor with the climbing roses used to be before you bought the new property 😂 (when you still had the white picket fence and flower bed up front that faced the old lane with the power lines). Does anyone else remember this?
Yep!
Not sure its ironic or one of them full circle moments. Maybe both! lol
Your imagination is boundless! I am in awe!
I got a lot out of this episode. The way you think about and visualize your ideas is wonderful. Thank you!
So inspiring to watch you ‘create’ right in front of us, using technology. I’m inspired to get a google earth shot of my area and make a plan. Greatly appreciate the mention of the importance of planning now, so you can order plants as soon as possible. Love the “winter’ garden possible theme. No words can express how much ‘winter interest’ has improved my enjoyment of my garden even though our Texas winter is short lived. Thank you for everything you do and are!
@@meowywest2497 hopefully someday you get to meet them. They are such a beautiful couple and they are truly so kind.
Favorite video-something I didn’t know how to do in my own garden AND dreaming with Laura. Win-win!!!
I gasped at the idea of the path of arbors covered in roses 🌹 😍 ✨️ That would be STUNNING, Laura!!
Oh my goodness, Laura how exciting that you’re starting a new project. I know it is going to be absolutely beautiful, especially because an arbor is involved. 💙💚💛🧡💜 Liz
I am so excited for you and this new project, it will be wonderful! I can hardly wait!
Ok, that’s the plan! Let’s crack on! ❤😊
So fun and exciting to see you plan from the very beginning!! It will be Gorgeous Laura! ❤ Love seeing your excitement 🎉🎉
Thank you for taking us along this wonderful journey. 💕
I’m so happy you are moving on this garden Laura. It will be very exciting to watch it evolve 😀
I just watched your June garden tour this morning when you were getting that walkway installed. That is funny for you to be talking about it now. I like to look back at your tours to get ideas for the upcoming season. We gardeners have so much anticipation this time of year.
I love seeing you design a space. Watching this was very validating for me. I've designed all the beds in my landscape without any formal training. Self-doubt creeps in so easily. I look forward to watching this space you've drawn out evolve and see your vision come to life. It's going to be beautiful - just like the rest of your property!
What a transformation this will be. I can't wait to watch the development of this space. Thanks for taking us along for the journey
It looks like a very happy garden 😊 smiley face. 😉 I love getting excited about an idea. ❤
That was so fun! It seems in the beginning that you tell us it’s going to be pretty and we believe you. But then when it’s all in bloom and perfected, we try to convince you how beautiful we think it is! Your visions blow me away!
Love the idea of this! Its funny how different people see different spaces. When I saw the title for this vid I actually always thought you would have used this front space as your raised garden beds/kitchen garden area to keep close to the house. Then made the current area you would have built a garage for just the cars, then it would block the neighbours new shed/building at the same time.
Love the channel and everything you both do, thank you for opening up your life and family to us all. I know we all appreciate it so much.
I loved seeing this process and knowing what to expect with the big project. Let's start now!
This area is going to be beautiful. You have such an amazing gift for designing flower beds. Can't wait to see it develop. Have a blessed day everyone.
I always watch you on my tv so I rarely think to go on my phone to comment. I’m so excited for this project & it’s going to be so beautiful!
It’s inspiring me to go out & change areas I’m not happy with in my little Ca cottage garden. I just look forward to watching you every morning with my Coffee💓
Oh my gosh. I knew there was going to be boxwoods there. I just knew it. When you said the boxwood hedging I could not agree more.. it will be spectacular. You and Aaron have such a great eye for projects. We are excited for you 2. Be well..🌳🌳🌿🌿🍃🍃🌱🌱
Very interesting process. Thanks for sharing.
❤ from Canada 🇨🇦
I love these planning process videos because I do the same thing for my ideas!
Yes! I've been waiting for you to come up with a plan for this space. I can not wait to see what magic you perform.
A winter garden sounds interesting if you decide to go that way.
Oooo your plan is looking amazing. So excited to see this area be work on. I am really excited about the arbs. Lavendar will look so pretty. You are really great at making a place look magical.
Hey Laura, I know you want to keep the balance of the entrance by keeping the three hydrangeas, but keep in mind that your door is not centered, so by planting three other hydrangeas on the other side, you will accentuate the fact that the entrance door is not centered. Maybe not put three hydrangeas but two. This is the same way it was with your garage door that was off center till you fixed it. Just a thought I know what ever you will be beautiful.
I agree, but perhaps she could duplicate the look for a third time on the far east corner of the house which might create that balance and allow for her choice and placement of shrubs.
Thanks for sharing! Looking forward to seeing it all come together.
If it does become a winter garden, you’ll definitely need coral berrys ☺️
So exciting for this new project! I love your brainstorming ❤
Brilliant, Susan! I think she nailed it on what Laura wants by calling it the Winter Garden. Now this area has purpose, instead of just something you passed on your way to the cut flower garden, etc. Something to enjoy near the house and to better situate the house in the middle of splendor.
This is what winter is for!
Please do more of these design/layout videos 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Ahhh, so excited for this space! This video is what I needed , totally motivated me today on this -25 degree day to start planning!
I'm for the 5 arbors in a row! I have 5 arches in an arc in my "food forest". Everyone who visits LOVES traveling through it. It transports you magically into a special place. Mine has tropical vines (passionvine) and grapes, but roses would be amazing too.
I LOVE the layout videos and then seeing seeing it complete with the aerial view!
This was absolutely INVALUABLE! Thank you for taking us along on your process - I am learning so much. Can you imagine all the gardens across the nation that have been influenced by your generous sharing! ❤🌼🪻🌸❤
That was soooo fun!!!!!! Thanks for sharing your plans with us. I love the structure of it and can’t wait to see what you will buy.
Can’t wait to see this area come alive. It will be interesting to see how much your plan does or does not change throughout the process.
Good morning all have a safe and blessed day ❤️
A girl gotta dream! Can't wait to see the dream come true!
Good Morning Laura.
Love all your projects and that you show it all. I just can't believe how much you have gotten fone with all your beautiful land.
I have learned so much from all of you. Enjoyed watching your family grow. I want to wish Beautiful SAMANTHA a very Happy Birthday. Such a lovely family you all are.
Thank you for all your videos.

I love this plan and your enthusiasm Laura! I'm excited that you are going to work on this area this year.
I really liked seeing how you plan and the reasons behind it.
Bravo, Laura! Can't wait to see it!!!
Love listening to you talk through your planning steps. Looks great! Can't wait to see the area come to life.
This was so helpful. We’re doing a home remodel & you don’t realize how much they dig up for a porch. But because of Arron I had electric & frostless water put in. Now I can google earth & really plan my garden
This is so fun to see a project from the beginning
Yes I'm 81 with only a long balcony. You are so inspiring 🎉
Love watching you draw out your plans! Can’t wait to see it come to life❤
That is a beautiful idea. The balance is just right. Can't wait
So exciting to see a new flower bed going in, it's going to look beautiful I know it! It will be interesting to see what you choose for pots/trees/benches and arbors. Looking forward to it.. Thank you for the inspiration Laura.
Fascinating to watch you go through the thought process and steps as you designed that garden! Thanks for taking us along.
Excellent work! I pray it all comes together as you imagine!
Oh my, I smiled so big when I saw this video come up xxxxx love it xxxx
It's gonna be Gorgeous 💜
I like your mom's idea, of a winter garden, it would be great location
I think finding a spot for an El Nino Chitalpa would be high on my list. Somewhere close enough to smell while sitting by the fountain. That would be an awesome place to relax! Thanks for sharing. This was so much fun!❤❤
I love the idea of a winter garden. How about some bird baths and beautiful bird feeders?
OMG, I'm so excited FOR you! I ended up being a writer and journalist but if I could go back I'd have majored in landscape architecture. I'm 64, so that's not going to happen, but I draw plans similarly for my family and friends (sometimes even when they don't ask for one!) and this just gets me GOING Laura. I'm only 3/4 of the way through this but just had to comment. As you boxed in the little rooms with the hedges by the fountain, wow... your vision is amazing. Can't wait to come along for the ride!
Really enjoyed being able to see your planning.
Goodness, this is going to be an exciting project for all of us to join in on. The transformation of your front entrance will be incredible. Love all the ideas!
I LOVE these type of videos! Thank you GA team. ❤
Can’t wait to see this come to life!! Couple of things that might help others trying to do similar projects 1. Google maps can give you a pretty good overhead view of your space if you don’t have access to a drone. 2. To determine your scale, measure one fixed point in your image then use that to scale everything else vs. having to take a bunch of different measurements.
Loved hearing your thought process. So helpful!
Loved watching your ideas come to life. Looking forward to watch it come together.
So exciting! Lilac standard trees would be a beautiful option! I have a couple and absolutely love their more formal shape !😊❤
Love this plan! Looking forward to see the beginning as you move on this!
Looking forward to seeing this area develop😊
This was super helpful. This is where I struggle. I seem to put things in and then find myself with a space I feel like I need to change again. More planning and drawing might be good.
