Father & Son Backpacking Trip to Round Valley Recreation Area, New Jersey

My son and I decided to dust off our camping gear and head out to Round Valley Recreation Area in New Jersey (www.njportal.c....
A few thoughts:
1. The campsites are decent - picnic benches and fire pit/rings (with grill) are at each site.
2. Assume COVID19 had something to do with this, but please note not all of the water wells (hand pumps) are working - only ones available when we went (June 1-3, 2021) were located near campsite #7 and 78. Be prepared for a decent hike to get to them if you don't bring your own.
3. There was lots of poison ivy on parts of the trail leading to the campsites (if you are hiking instead of boating in).
4. Unfortunately, the previous campers (or two) at our site, left empty soda cans, fruit skins and garbage in the fire pit. While we picked their crap up and ensured we 'left no trace' ourselves when we departed, it's just a shame that a small percentage of folks out there just don't care. If we all chip in and just do our part, our state parks can be enjoyed by many more people and for generations to come.
