I was doing this FREE POWERWASHING job and FOUND this sidewalk that no one has seen in 36 years

- I dont know how long it has been .....BUT its been a long long LONG LOOOOONG time since this was last a usable side walk. I would say I have never done a job this crazy but they all them pretty wild at this point. Having said that, this job was very enjoyable to me even though it was hard work. power washing is always satisfying but knowing that the community can use the sidewalk again brings be joy. This is a pretty High traffic area and this will allow people and kids to use and play on the sidewalk again. Just think of how happy the mail man is going to be now that he gets to use the sidewalk.

He's been doing my yard for years but when I wasn't able to pay instead of stopping he keep going. I think he did it for 2 years till I was able to pay. Thank God for people like y'all 🙏🙏❤

Hello Barbara, I have chronic illnesses and got another virus recently that put me back into bed. I hear you. It's not easy. I'll pray for you, love. Remember in the footprints poem where the person thought God had left them because there was only one set of footprints, but it turned out that was because God was carrying that person, well, that's where we are. Rest in His arms and find solace in His Word. May all of God's blessings be on you and your family.

It is hard to believe that the city would allow the sidewalk to become that blocked. We had a sidewalk that was blocked near me, and I went to the city manager and told him that it was blocking my pathway when I walked to the post office. I showed him a picture of the blockage, and it was taken care of that day.

Wonderful to see decades of grime cleaned up so nicely! That was quite the transformation! The diligent work from the both of you brought that cement back to its former glory. Just clearing the area under the bushes & roots was great in itself, but combined with your fine efforts with the power washer, it was like icing on the cake!

It's amazing what a big heart can do when put into use for something other than pumping blood. If everyone was more like you guys the world would be such a beautiful place. And in my opinion, the neighbors all should have pitched in and helped keep that sidewalk clear. They live in that neighborhood too. My hats off to you and your crew.

Wow, hadn't thought to what might be UNDER the overgrown sidewalk. You've really been working. Hah, Hah, there was a FENCE in there too!! You won on Archeology today. Good artwork. Nice progress Dawn, on the sidewalk and walkway. Robert, I've seen one technique on root-filled dirt that helped. It was taking the edger through and cutting down through it. Seemed to make removal more orderly and manageable. Blasting with the water was an interesting solution on your part. I had just asked Kevin what he knew about removing roots in difficult places and the topic seems to be accelerating rapidly. Doing restoration work brings-up difficult situations. (Uh oh, is that another bush in the sidewalk further down?!) Well, you don't have to GO LOOK for more things to do..... Impressive, by trial and error you got through to the sidewalk. Was thinking of Don Moen's song, "God will find a way..." You did it and it is a tremendous change. A two-for-one renewal. Looks completely different.
I had been thinking the same as I watched. Cut through with the edger (and maybe a sharp tool like that adze on anything particularly thick) on each side of the sidewalk. Then just pry and lift that section off with shovels, cutting across every 3 -5 feet or so to make it manageable and throwing it onto a tarp so you can pull it away to the truck. The same could be done, cutting in strips, with the stuff on the lawn toward the street. Then again, I’ve never done this so it’s all supposition and theory on my part. 🤷🏼♀️

He did use the edger toward the end. I just kept hoping he’d try it sooner instead of the pressure washer. But I really shouldn’t have commented that since I have ZERO experience and you both know what you’re doing, though that may have been a first for Robert, too! I’m sure he did it the best way there was! He got the job done and it looked beautiful!!! 💕

This was really tough, Im sure! And its important that homeowners, landlords what have you remember that people in wheelchairs use sidewalks to be able to travel to where they need to go, or if they just wanna be unstuck from their homes and get some fresh air. And that includes driveways too! Its just the little things that can make some ones day that much easier. You all are just the greatest!
This would be awesome to revisit after a full growing season to see how it all settles into itself. Revisiting any of your vids would be awesome!
