Can I Build a GAMING PC With No Experience?

  • I finally had an excuse to upgrade and I am so happy. I'm convinced that I made so many mistakes when building it and honestly, I'm surprised that it's still working. Oh yeah, I'm not American so to you American viewers the price might not make sense. It's around $2100 USD in total for all of my parts. Also yes, I did enable XMP in the BIOS.
I'm unsure about some of my chosen parts such as the GPU but it's a huge step up for me so I'm happy. The RTX 4070 is waaaay faster than that dumb laptop I was using.
Thank heavens for pcpartpicker. Honestly such a carry.

Cpu overkill, noctua fans overkill, gpu underkill. I’m a hard AMD stan so i currently use the 6950xt and 7600x.
I’d recommend watching pc builder for price / performance comparisons for cpu and gpu, along with videos about common pc building traps people fall for.

There is no pins on the 7000 series AMD CPUs (the pins are now on the motherboard's socket so don't touch those)... They have pads at the bottom, so it's not as big of a deal to handle. Sure, it's best that you don't get those pads dirty but you don't have to worry about damaging them.

Just looked again and saw that your mobo's bios is F3 and I would highly recommend that you update your bios to the newest version (especially if you want to overclock). some of the older bios on mobos can unintentionally overvolt the AMD 7000 cpus when overclocking and damage them. Better to be safe than sorry.

  • @MrMisticZ
    @MrMisticZ ปีที่แล้ว +29

    1:05
Cores are like workers and threads are amount of tasks that they all together can do at the same time.
    1:10
This CPU doesn't have pins, they are on the motherboard. You shouldn't be touching connectors either way, because dirt.
    1:34
You could've gone for 5600Mhz Cl28, which is like 6000mhz and basic CL. But it doesn't matter that much. It's just more optimal, because lower latency.
    1:43
This is due to how data is transferred from CPU to RAM. If there are 2 or 4 slots, there are 2 channels, you want to populate both channels. Splitting tasks is always better. Then it's A2 and B2 instead of A1 and B1 because that's where the end point for data transfer is. Not a huge difference if you put it in A1 and B1, but why not have a little extra performance for free when you can?
    2:30
Damn right it is. Although personally I would've gone for something like Peerless Assassin 120, which is 40-50$, it would be more than enough to cool a 65W CPU that 7900 is.
    2:37
There are more, Intel has a lot of different ones, AMD not that many. And you can always ask Noctua to send you some of you're missing them.
    3:00
    It's fi-i-ine
    3:12
    Yes, that's by design
    3:45
I'd put cables in first, it's just easier that way, but with how that PSU is oriented, ig it doesn't matter
    3:27
Usually you'd put IO shield first onto the case, not a mistake in any way, depends on motherboard
    3:57
Wouldn't call it a mistake, depends on the price. Nvidia makes sense for creators, otherwise I'd go AMD.
    4:08
Don't you have a hole where the top bracket is? Put it back
Cable management is kinda non-existent. But hell yeah, you did way way way better than Verge. Gj

but still, Noctua is best at air cooling and 7900 is not 65 watts, It's 170 watts! And it's silent. Especially at benchmarks and at ultra settings on a game.

It goes into slots 2 and 4 for 2 reasons. The first is because it is a dual channel system. channel 1 is slots 1 & 2, while channel 2 is slots 3 & 4. So as long as you put 1 in each channel you should be good.
The reason you use slots 2 & 4 instead of slots 1 & 3 is because the traces (copper that connects stuff together, in this case the RAM and CPU) for each channel pass thru slots 1, then 2, and for the second channel slots 3 then 4. You want the end of each trace to have a RAM stick, otherwise the ends of each trace will terminate to nothing, thus making them susceptible to picking up interference as it acts like an antenna. This can theoretically prevent you from running your RAM at higher speeds, although its unlikely. Still, its best not to risk making your system slightly more unstable.

nice work, however just so you know, since your CPU has reversed pins and is known for being incredibly resilient, you can be less careful with it. Although your SSD say I have a heatsink, always put it back on and apply thermal paste to the integrated mother board heatsink. really good GPU installation even though it's not the best of options. Your RAM can cause pingbacks and distort things that use your random access memory if in 1 and 3rd channel it in fact does not double your speed.

If your bios version is outdated it's a good idea to update it as it could come with fixes for certain issues, after updating I recommend turning on DOCP (AMD) or XMP (Intel) as it allows you to reach the rams advertised MT/s. Then I would get Windows.
