Some of the greatest stats ever for a guard 💪. Great video of one of the best ever, Jerry West 👏
@@klicknkreate7077 WILT GOD >>> OSCAR >>> BAYLOR >>> JERRY >>> NATE THURMOND >>> I DUNNO WHO RUSSELL IS ???
@@PIP...33 And thats literally 5 the best players in Wilt era. In that particular order. I agree no1 ever will be near GOAT Wilt Chamberlain. He is not human to me. But Oscar Robertson with 6'5 and Baylor are up there too. Just to see their rebounds and stats and scoring overall, I dunno how ppl can say Russell beat Wilt guy had superteam vs West and Baylor in prime and they lost 2 OF THEM 8 times and Wilt played alone with solid roster since 1959 till 1967 !!
@@Celtics6-0vsMonkeyJordan WILT IS GOD ALIEN RIP REAL THE GOAT.
@@Celtics6-0vsMonkeyJordan TO ME RUSSELL IS NOT EVEN NEAR WES UNSELD, OR WILLIS REED (BUT I CANT MEASURE REED BECAUSE HE ALSO PLAYED SUPERTEAM KNICKS - ALL I KNOW REED CAN SHOOT MID RANGE FASTEST PUMP FAKE IN HISTORY AND HE WAS GREAT ALL AROUND 2 WAY WHAT RUSSELL NEVER WAS) .
He was not just a great shooter. But he was a really good defender, a good passer, and a good rebounder for a guard. And man he could get that shot off so fast.
Good passer? Ummm he can make spectacular passes here and there. But his passing was ok until Bill sharman came. Dude was a gunner
those release and precision formed a true thing of beauty, for sure, +)
Well said
@@BoosterGoldEarth6well he led the league in assists in 71-72. You have to be a good passer to do that.
It's funny I always felt like his best skill was his finishing! But everyone always says it's his shooting or D. Honestly this guy gotta be the best 6'2 White guy ever, yeah?? Hahaha
Jerry West's offense was superb and his defensive play magnificent. He is the definition of Legend.
Imagine this dude with a 3pt line. That jumpshot is pure beauty.
& so quick!!!!
An he scored over 25,000 Points with no 3Pointer an he has 9 finals appearances an get absolutely no love. West Robertson should be ahead of guys like Shaq because the NBA had a better more athletic Shaq which was Wilt. West an Robertson are Michael Jordan Goats for a reason. You put these 2 in any era an the outcome might exceed. They were very good for their time. Today they'd be in the same realm as LeBron KD Giannis Jokic Curry & Luka infact they might be better. Because West was knocking down long jumpers before Curry daddy was born. Another part of their games that I believe the NBA is hiding is how great a defender West & Robertson were. Especially West.
Ha. You mean zero follow through ?
@@RippyClippy zero follow through? Are you watching. He’s clearly following through and flicking his wrist. He just isn’t holding the pose. I don’t think you know what a follow through is
He's one of the first guys to create the modern jump shot.
West retired in '74. Jordan began his college career in '81. 7 years difference. Basketball eras aren't as far away as you might think.
in talent it is
@@keith7644
NO what you see in talent difference is actually a change in rules. Most of the guys that you idolize would have been called for carries and travels constantly and would have been probably cut from the team .
That and shoe technology try playing 80 games in Chuck Taylors.
@@chuckHart70 people don't understand that they also called fouls way different in jerry's day the majority of blocking fouls called in an nba game today would be considered offensive fouls back then
This, dude played against Kareem who was still dominant in Jordan's early career. Would've excelled in any era. Alot of players from the 60's wouldn't have, but the cream of the crop still would've been dominant.
Changes every 10 yrs
A true legend that I admire and respect died on my birthday. Couldn’t believe it when I saw it. Unlike most NBA fans I respect history and don’t overlook the days before the 80s. I’m a 22 year old that loves the game and loves learning about the history of the game. Jerry West will forever be a pioneer and will forever be the logo. As a Heat fan, he’s the reason why I’m very fond of the Lakers. Not because of Kobe but West. Long live The Logo🙏❤️
Thank you for your comment 🙏🙏🙏 West has a career projection of 3.5 steals per game for his career. Insane.
Favorite coach of all time,Pat Rielly.
RIP to the NBA logo & Mr. Clutch. Rest in paradise legend. 🙏
Purest buckets for The Logo. Imagine his numbers with the 3pt shot existing in his era. A pioneer of the actual “jump shot”. Rest In Peace to a basketball titan.
Jerry West had more of an impact on the game than anyone else ever.
Thank you, just thank you. Any day I get to see West and his jump shot is a beautiful day. Rest in paradise, Mr. West
🙏🙏🙏
Mr. Clutch / Mr. Logo / Mr. Marvel. Sure, the game was different, the athletes were different, the times were different. But he was simply sensational through it all.
Mr. Jerry West. Lakers 44.
What a motivated man, sharp shooter, terrific talent. Yet a valiant gentleman and exemplary competitor. 👍
Never mind that I'm a biased, diehard L.A. Lakers fan since 1966. 😉
Me 68. Saw the last half of his career.
Time after time Jerry is at the top of his jump before the defender can even react. My God he was quick!
I saw West and Chamberlain making opposing coaching staff go crazy back in 72.. good old days
ok dino
No you didn't troll
Jerry West was a total bad-ass. Only player to win an MVP award playing for the losing team in the NBA Finals.
Imagine jerry west in todays game.. He would fit right in
Jerry West was a 6'5" (shoes on like all rookies were measured from '73 on) guard that did so many things on the basketball court at a high level but it was his shooting that set him apart. No guard in NBA history has had a quicker pull up jumper or was as clutch with it. Mr Clutch has tried to teach modern players how to shoot the pull up jumper like he did but nobody has been able do it as well. I mean, Jerry was lethal with that shot. He could hit it going left or right and he would give a hard dribble and jump as the ball came off the floor, seemingly propelling him higher. Because it was so quick and Jerry had good hops, he didn't need much space to get it off and it was extremely accurate, especially when it mattered most. Jerry West's pull up jumper is one of the greatest signature shots in the history of the NBA. 💪👏
Imagine if he had a 3 point line throughout his career. He would have had many more points.
@@michaelcorenzwit6860 So true. Also, West was a great deep shooter as well, it's just that he wanted to get closer because there was no reason to shoot so many deep shots with no 3 point line.
I am 78 years old and have loved and followed basketball since my family bought our first tv when I was 8-9 years of age. I have seen the greats including George Mikan, Tom Gola, Bob Cousy, Oscar Robertson, Wilt Chamberlain (was the greatest to have ever played basketball), etc, etc up to the present day.
The players from the 50s through the 60s were great athletes equal to any we.have today but they didn’t have the benefits of years of modern coaching, training and medical improvements in treating and preventing injuries. If these players from the the period starting at childhood, had today’s education and training, imo they would excel today as much as they did when they played.
Without TH-cam most people can never see what players from the past could do. It is a great resource to see much of modern world.
@@michaelcorenzwit6860 I agree 💯
He said himself he was only 6’4
Rip to the logo. You will be deeply missed by any Basketballs fans in the world.
I never knew. West played before I was born but watching his play exemplifies everything about basketball. Fundamentals, teamwork, form and movement to name a few. I now know why they call him Mr. Clutch.
He was my first sports idol. I was a Jerry West fanatic. Definitely was a huge blow when he retired after a preseason game where he scored 35 points. At the age of 12 I couldnt understand why a guy would retire in the locker room after putting up 35. A long time has passed, and you rarely hear him mentioned when they talk about GOATs, but I was there, and he ranks. Chick Hearn once said "The only two guys that played better when they were angry was Jerry West and Michael Jordan"
This man was amazing.
Blessed to be old enough to have seen him and Oscar in their prime. Unbelievable.
I envy you
How would you compare them with the best guards in the NBA today?
West is one of the GOATs
Since you watch basketball during that time did you watch Jordan too? If you compared the two eras what would you think of jordan?
Dang you old and almost dead
I remember that 55 foot shot he made against the Knicks during that playoff game. I was 13 at the time and I almost fell out of my living room chair!
RIP Jerry West, you were a huge inspiration, and will be a beacon of light for generations to come.
He lowkey had one of the prettiest shots I ever seen 🔥💪🏾🏀.. I believe if you put him in any Era, he'd still put up crazy numbers with that jumper
With a 3 point line too would be crazy to see.
Yeah. You couldn’t drop him in todays league and expect him to dominate like wilt
BUT if he were born today, he would legit be one of, if not the, best point guard in the NBA.
That shot looks so unblockable. Deadeye 2k trait
@@Peppy869you could definitely drop him in todays league
@@yinztigators5552 sure. Drop someone with zero left hand and zero lateral agility from 1960s and ask him to man up. Not happening.
@@Peppy869 why go that far... drop him into YOUR LA FITNESS runs and he would get destroyed right???
He was unique. There will never be another West.
How many people came here after hearing of his passing today? 6/12/2024
me rip to the greatest gm/executive of all time.
Me too
One of the best point guards of all time! R.I.P
He mostly played as a shooting guard.
That is a smooth-ass jumper
his jumper was so crazy he could shoot off the catch off the dribble fadeaway whatever and it just looked good too
Its a shame the nba doesn’t do more to showcase Wests eras greatness. Thank you.
BECAUSE TJHEY TRY TO SELL JORDAN KOBE AND LEBRON SHOES. U CANT SELL 60'S MERCHENDISE IN 2020 ERA
Because he overrated loser dat why
He had an excellent shooting form. Plus, he was a quick leaper.
Those are two basketball skills that transcend time.
Rest In Peace Mr. West. West Va. has always been proud of you. Especially the Cabin Creek area.
Loved watching him play back in the day!
Watching West, he was one of the best at creating his own shot. If he’d played with the 3-Point Line, he would not have been a spot-up shooter. I’m old enough to have watched him play and he would literally take over games, offensively and defensively.
6:21 damn and people say they didn't have skills bruhh just look at that !! The quality of the footage sometimes hides how quick those guys were !
No one has mentioned that he had twitch and above average speed and quickness that I think made him special amongst his peers. Imagine if he had today's training he would absolutely thrive in today's game
Been waiting for another one of these great highlights to be released. The possibilities on what players to upscale footage of must feel endless. Gus like Elgin Baylor or Nate Thurmond or Walt Bellamy and many more. Enjoyed this video and I'm stoked for the next one.
Glad you enjoyed it 👍
Damn, that Shooting form is beautiful
I have been waiting for a Jerry West video in 4K… Thanks Foobas! ❤
Thank you for watching 👍
Jerry was a pure weapon
If he shot as many times as MJ and with a 3 point line? Jerry West had a projected 2.6 steals a game.. for his career. And a nice 0.8 blocks.
Has to be the originator of one or two dribble pull ups, either hand. Literally watching what mj was saying, when he said he got his moves from Dr j and Jerry west. Salute.
R.I.P jerry west😢
Congratulations Mr. West for the third time as an executive!!!!
Mr.clutch can save the world
He was simply incredible
Purest scoring ability of all time
Imagine him playing in an era attempting regular 3's.
lets be real
Foobas is back! Welcome back Foobas! Much love for your projects! 🔥
Thank you! Much appreciated 👍
That guy perfected that wrist release. That's why he became the model for shooters generations after him.
no
My favorite player.
"As a Basketball fan, thank you Jerry West for your influence and impact. Your talent was tremendously appreciated by some of us and you contributed significantly to the greatest rivalry in NBA history. As a Lakers fan, thank you for helping make the Lakers organization what it is today. Without you, we have significantly less banners and jerseys up in the rafters. True Laker fans will always be appreciative of the memories you provided for us with your genius basketball mind." - Jonny Arnett, STOP Disrespecting Jerry West!, August 17th, 2022.
NOTE: Jonny Arnett said this almost 2 YEARS before his passing.
R.I.P.
This man set the standard.
No wonder they made him the logo.
The biggest thing that sucks about the game from the 50s, 60s, and 70s NBA is that hardly any of the games are available to watch there are so many games that I would love to watch from the early eras of the NBA
Thx for work!! Jerry West legends!!
Thanks for watching 👍
The Logo, The Legend!!
Here giving the legend his flowers while he's still with us
That right hand pull up 😮💨
That Jumper is the 5 star standard
Pure talent. Give me the ball and let’s see what happens. Pure confidence. Love that man. Oh yeah born to score
my first and best hero
In addition to the Logo and Mr. Clutch, they should call him "The Textbook." Perfect fundamentals.
Rest in peace, Jerry.
Rest in peace Jerry West, you'll be remembered.
Just a great player. And fun to watch people try and stop him.
R.I.P. one of the greatest
bro thx u 4 postin dis💯👌🏾after dis whole jj barea thing sum a yall need 2 remember jus how kold da LOGO was in his prime🤞🏾😮💨
This is the guy I want in the last quarter of a 4-2 series and we're down a bunch of points. He'd get us a game 7 😎
Rest in peace. Never liked the Lakers but I like Jerry West legend of basketball 🏀.
such a beautiful shot
With his defense as good as his offense and his playmaking and rebounding being elite for his position, he’s top 5 ever easily
Nope. Simpleton

He gets that shot off so quick.
What a life!
Rest In Peace Legend 🫡
Amazing, just thank you for that!
Thank you for all your help 👍
RIP LEGEND
Rest in peace legend 🙏🏿
Most underrated player ever. Like Jordan, he has one of the most aesthetically pleasing playstyles, his jumpshot is so pure. He was unlucky to win only once, and had he had a 3pt line he might have been the best player of his era.
he cant dribble
@@pinnapple1960Rules were more strict
@@pinnapple1960he school you
@@pinnapple1960 it would be nice to let 3 officials from that era to whistle a modern nba game to see who can dribble and who cant...

Rest in Peace, Jerry West
Mr. Clutch in Laker's Dynasty
I like the way they dribble back in the day. No lifting of the ball.
Condolences 💐🙏
he's the pull-up man jumper game
RIP to the Greatest GM/Executive of all time.
I remember watching West when he was at College the team had an out of bounds play with West getting the ball at the top the key and he never seemed to miss. He was special.
how old are you
Rest in peace legend.
Thank you Jerry west for being the greatest General manager in sports history everybody he convinced Shaq to sign with the Lakers and traded for kobe bryant and drafted a guard from Arkansas little Rock named Derek fisher all in one off-season un believable
Plays like a modern point guard, so ahead of his time
he looked down when he dribbled
@@pinnapple1960well at least he is the NBA logo while looking down dribbling 😂
@@pinnapple1960you had to be more careful. Traveling rules were more stricter.
It’s crazy how well he can shoot in all that traffic
Its hilarious to me that despite him loving Kobe, the killer in him couldn't help but probably think he'd drop 40+ on his head regularly 😂 🐺
Should make a short of him talking about that confidence, the wolf quote, the quote with Kobe etc
My GOAT
I ain’t gone lie. The LOGO might be the GOAT. Dude pulling up off the dribble CASH like it’s nothing. 25,000 points in 13 seasons NO THREES is BEYOND CRAZY 😮💨
If he didn't play with Elgin Baylor he would've taken more shots and scored more too.
Yup
Epic. Never really seen him play
When Wilt the Dipper himself set screen for you to shoot, you know you're the real shit.
Hes game is Poetry in motion.... hes the LOGO for a reason!
Could make the argument for greatest Laker ever....
Todays game with 3 point line its all over....
Nope
He is the Origin of Mid Range basketball. Clutch
Rip legend🙏🙏🙏😇
What I would give to see the first game of the 1969 finals,Lakers versus Celtics. West scored 53 points.
Wtf his dribbling to shooting is so quick.
Insanely quick release on his jumpshot. Deep knee bend and hard last dribble but he springs up super powerfully and flicks it lightning quick...
RIP to the Logo
Jerry is number three behind Kobe and Mike of greatest two guards.
I would only put Michsel ahead of him.
Welcome back sir, another great video🙏🏀🙏🏀🙏🏀
Thank you 👍
Soo many of the ingredients that MJ and Kobe got came from Jerry West.
No jumpshot, the ring dont have spring, but that midrange pull up is deadly and beauty
