in 2019 Thamel was a vehicle free zone, now it is again full up with beeping motorcycles disturbing the happiness, I hope Mayor Balen will make it more peaceful again. But I can also say without or withought beeping vehicles everywhere Kathmandu will always be magical to the heart :-).
Exactly thamel is the main tourist area so I hope balen focuses on here too. The road are too narrow so they should make it one way with speed limit and vehicle free zone in some parts. Most importantly the road also needs to be pitched. Big vehicles should be allowed only in early morning time and after late midnight when the road is less crowded and banned during peaktime. It’s not easy to implement all at once but not impossible.
Yes Kathmandu overall has changed a lot in the past 10 years. Especially Thamel being one of the most famous touristic places in Kathmandu City, it has many new businesses mostly focusing on tourists in Nepal.
