I'm sure that I have watched at least 15 different videos about " dressing for an APPLE body type " yet NONE of them have ever EXPLAINED the whole CONCEPT of WHAT the end goal ( other than obviously looking good !!) actually is . Thank you for the in depth explanation -- I feel like , now that I know the end goal , I will have a better idea of how to go about achieving it .
YEAH! This makes me so happy. It really is about gaining horizontal balance in your outfits (against the standard that is the hourglass) and when you realize you can do that by bringing attention UP and DOWN, it makes getting dressed so much easier!
Understanding how to achieve balance is the first step. Because without knowledge, you are doomed to make the same mistakes over and over again. I could give you a list of clothes, but if you didn't understand the why ... you'd just have to wait for another list of clothes. With that being said, we do post inspiration on our Instagram and Shop Pages from time to time. --> adoreyourwardrobe.com/shop-body-type-recommendations-and-finds/ --> instagram.com/adoreyourwardrobe
As an apple, I find the following works for me: wrap tops, Henley’s, portrait collars, cowl necks, ruching at the sides, diagonal lines, wearing a column of one colour with a contrasting jacket open over it, monochromatic outfits, jumpsuits and overalls. Avoid waist seams and belts. Sheath dresses, and fit-and-flare dresses are good.
Not true. Earrings and shoes are two easy ways to provide visual interest to your outfit and to help fill your hourglass, but they are definitely not the only way. My Apple Students also look great in jeans, pants, tops, jacket, skorts, dresses, and sweaters.
When dressing for your body type, it's less about "individual items" and more about "creating a complete outfit that compliments your body type." It's about creating outfits that bring the attention UP and DOWN.

Thank you! This was so educational. I have always wondered why I just cannot wear the same things as others.
Glad it was helpful!
