He tried to "CONTROL" her in different ways, and Meenaji was too free a spirit to be controlled in the traditional ways. I noticed someone comment here about her love affair with Bharat Bhushan. Well, I don't think there was anything wrong with that. She was also not yet married at the time Baiju Bawara was being made. We don't think so now in this day and age. At that time, she was way ahead of the times. And yes, we do love her, and certainly miss her, although we know she will not come back, so we recreate a fantasy and watch her movies. Meena Kumari can't compare with others, she was a great artist, dancer, singer and writter she was a great poetess, romantic queen of Indian film industry, like her name she was a real tragic queen, hindi film industry failed to save Meena Kumari from unfortunate death, she was not even 40, all hindi acters directors exploited her made huge money because of her Amrohi was Budde like her father's age he took advantage of Meena Kumari by giving more chance in films , and married her secretly, darmendra left her, no one helped and guided her when she was frustrated and alone and was sick, because of sahib bibi movie she started drinking and all her friends left her when she was in pain and need shoulders , Tragic queen life ends in tragedy', no doubt that she was a such a great artist and more than 100 films, she did in her short life time, mostly box office hit films, shame on hindi film industry.

Shams well of coz they clicked well in the photos. After all these photos are for publicities then. Personally i think they were fine in the first decade or so. But just like any relationship, it will be tested and so were they. And they FAILED miserably. If not for MK near death condition, i don't think both would reconcile even as friends. Kamal was from uttarpradesh, the people from there very zulmy and money minded. Kamal loved Merna kumari but he never gave her baby purposely because he wanted to give his first wife children that respect status, such love had no meaning for Meena kumari, he had not given the respect status of being mother. What is the use of such love. Kamaals family never accepted her ad bahu.
At ther height of her career he married - then why did he give her talaq? If this love was so strong, he should have been there for her whether good times of bad. How difficult was it for him to marry her, whether it be simple of not so simple ceremony. Shams well of coz they clicked well in the photos. After all these photos are for publicities then. Personally i think they were fine in the first decade or so. But just like any relationship, it will be tested and so were they. And they FAILED miserably. If not for MK near death condition, i don't think both would reconcile even as friends. For the continuation of pakeezah, it was at the initiative of nargis and sunil dutt, i trust u are aware of this too. If it were left to them both, it would not have been brought to the screen.
so sorry for a very late reply... actualy all are not publicity pics some of the pics are from there private albums but yes i agree what you said regarding there marrige .. but still what ever i read & resarched about this couple so far i can say they shared a intimate relationship till end & yes it had a dark side too ... regarding Pakeezah Nargis Sunil Dutt were instrumental including Khayyam & his wife but i think Pakeezah was not only the dream project of Amrohi but also very special for Kumari & both deep down inside there hearts wanted to complete it ... you know many incidents showed in Pakeezah are inspired by Amrohi & Kumari's real life love story .... the actress Padma Khanna who played the body double of MK in the climax song shared some very intresting memories .. have you watched her interview ? you can watch it on my channel in MK documentary part 3 ... well in the end i'll say we can only assume things the real truth is only known by MK & Amrohi but i can say Pakeezah is the 1st half of MK life & Sahib Bibi aur Ghulam is the 2nd final part of her life story ... do share your views after watching Padma Khanna interview :)
Shams i thought Daera was the dearest to MK. As for Pakeezah, intially yes maybe it was sthg sentimental to them both before their relationship turned nasty. Afterall KA never directed a movie with muslims sociobackground. It could be seen as a special gift to his wife vice versa, or it could be for financial gain. God knows. The great actress Meena Kumari died shortly after Pakeezah release.. India would produce many actors/actresses but there would never be another Meena Kumari. She was used by many "MEN"-all of them claiming they loved her, but you know the truth--they just killed her. Truth is only rare person is lucky to find true love on this earth & rest (all) of us would die looking for that heaven on this earth. Do what you can under hell like life on this earth--this is my 2 cents from New York - & pray that next life would be better when reborn. Actress Audrey Hepburn put all her wisdom in one line--" May be Men & Women were not made to live with each other--they should live near by & visit once in A while". Please read Meena Kumari's poetry as well. SHE IS THE GREATEST GIFT TO BOLLYWOOD BY THE ALMIGHTY.

"The late Actress Meena Kumari when she was admitted to the St Elizabeth hospital @ Teen Bhati Nepeansea road one of the sisters ( Nun) who was a relative of a friend of mine inform that no Director or Any Actor ever visited her when she was lying on the Hospital bed..she was diagnosed with acute Kidney problems due to excess alcohol drinking..it was swollen...she had problems so severe that she couldn't get out of her bed without the sisters help...sometimes there was no money to pay for her medicine..all Actors like Dharamendra used her .even Director Kamal Amarohi during the making of the Film Pakeeza didn't pay her at all..the movie was sheld for years ..till late when she lost weight she looked younger..the shoot started once again as only 30 % was to be shot..they completed the movie ..at first when it was realised there was not much rush of filmgoers to watch it ..the Theatres were thinking of scrapping the show with 3 weeks due to huge losses at the theatre but the sudden untimely death of Meena Kumari in that period the curious Film public rush to watch it.
There the show started picking up immediately..& it turned out to become a huge blockbuster.
Meena Kumari was buried at the Juhu Kabaristhan the next day..these actor most of them are so selfish that money is God for them..they will demand a huge amount of their movie becomes a huge hit..they won't help anyone..all bloody Hippocrates..I used to work at Shree Sounds studios behind Chitra Cinema..Dadar east."

Kamal was from uttarpradesh, the people from there very zulmy and money minded. Kamal loved Merna kumari but he never gave her baby purposely because he wanted to give his first wife children that respect status, such love had no meaning for Meena kumari, he had not given the respect status of being mother. What is the use of such love. Kamaals family never accepted her ad bahu.
At ther height of her career he married - then why did he give her talaq? If this love was so strong, he should have been there for her whether good times of bad. How difficult was it for him to marry her, whether it be simple of not so simple ceremony. Until she was his goose that laid the golden egg, I am sure he swore up and down and declared his utmost love for her. Are relationships only meant for good times? She was sad after he dumped her, I have heard many of the poetry she wrote and also this famous line "Ja to rahey ho, par meri jawani mujhe lauta do" So, I don't want to hear any of this sappy love lines from the husband. In her prime she acted with many actors and helped them up - which man would not want to marry her?
