    Have you ever filmed a subject on a backdrop and thought that it looks cheap? There's actually a way to extend your backdrop in post production to make it look like your subject is in a professional studio! The best part is that it's not difficult to achieve, and it's done inside of After Effects! So let's dive in and learn this effect together!

    Hi! Great vid, thank You! But I have a little problem, when Im trying to get back to the same position from before, with anchor point changed (typing same value as ap horizontal position) my mask jumps out of the composition far away. :(

    That's an amazing tutorial,One of a kind,
    I have 2 question , If I have a long footage will it still works fine with after effects? And my second question is if the anchor point will not be on the person Body what will happen Then?

    At 10:39 would it be possible to change the color other than white? Maybe yellow, pink, or blue? I'm trying to decide if it would be better to buy a color backdrop roll or keep my white one.

    Thanks so much for this! QQ: Why did you precompose before doing the top part of the extension? Couldn't you have done that part like you did the two sides?

    This an awesome tutorial.... I’m having some issues though. At around 2:20, you instruct us to delete the mask. Shortly after deleting you toggle with visibility and am able to see the entire video after selecting and unselecting subject layer... I can’t see it. Still shows mask. Did I do something wrong?

      Hi Felice! Glad you liked the tutorial! Hopefully we can try to help out a little bit. It may simply be that the wrong mask layer was deleted. If you delete the mask from the subject layer it will still be present in the background layer, and then toggling on/off the subject layer won't get rid of the mask at all because it's not on that layer. Hopefully that makes sense :D

      Saved me so much time on an edit I'm working on with a short, gold backdrop. Producer and client are very happy.

    Could you just use the 'pan behind tool' to more quickly and easily move the anchor point?

      We can't confirm on this particular method but in theory it seems possible. Interesting question 😁

    Caveat: Won't work if the subject is moving severely from one side to another.

    When I stretch the mask it doesn't actually extend the content, just the mask outline. Do you know if this has changed in the new After Effects CC?

    • @MotionArrayTutorials
      @MotionArrayTutorials  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Alexandra, sorry to hear. When you're stretching after creating the mask the goal is to stretch the actual footage that you've isolated with the mask under the transform options. If this isn't working, check to see if there's other layers above this layer that are keeping it from being able to be seen. The other thing I would check to see is if your mask properties are set to Add, or None. If it's set to none you'll see the mask outline move but the footage won't change, having it set to add will ensure that the effect takes place. I hope this helps, if not please feel free to ask further. Cheers!

    Idk what went wrong. As soon as I finished, my footage only played in slo-mo and took forever to export. Once it was back in PP, the image and sound were crazy distorted. Where did I go wrong?

    • @MotionArrayTutorials
      @MotionArrayTutorials  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Zack, sorry to hear. The slow-mo and longer exporting are not unexpected depending on how long it took. It should be longer but not insanely long. That second part though sounds more like system problems as opposed to problems with your project or anything you did in the creation process, which also might be where the longer processing times came from too. Any chance your system needs to be updates or computer is acting up? Sorry to hear

    Just hit "Y" n place the anchor point to the edge of the mask n drag the other side.
    Simple
