I bought 15 RIR last year, all day old females and they threw in a rooster, the best chickens ever. I didn’t lose a single chick, all are laying a egg a day, and I just got my first hatching this month, out of 21 eggs 19 eggs were fertile. I’d like information on this strain as it’s the best chickens I’ve ever had. Thank you Cackle ❤
A dual purpose breed and can be reared both intensive and semi intensive by a well to do individuals. However, less to do individuals can do it in a free range method without fear of contracting diseases.

How do your Rhode Island Reds compare to the APA standard of perfection? They look good in the video. Could someone enter one of your Rhode Island Reds in a poultry show?
They are great looking! I'd like to have two roosters, not eggs, about 7 months to 1 year
They are in great condition, well done, it's good to see some of the commercial sector with ethic's. What is your ratio of roosters to hen's? I have RIR also, just a hobby, I have 8 hen's and a rooster.

Thank you so much for the nice compliment. Typically we run 10-12 hens to 1 rooster some of our other breeds differ.

getting told these arent really RIR on byc (backyardchickens.com) saying they sell production reds as NHR and RIR. i think its hilarious
Don't pay too much attention to what you read on that website. These are commercialized RIRs and do not exactly conform to the APA Standard in terms of color and body type but can still be RIRs. Same goes for New Hampshires.

+Yu Yong Kabir chicken are different from Rhode Island Red. Kabir originated from middle east which means "Kabir" in arabic means large. Rhode Island Reds are well as the name suggests, from Rhode Island.

BullittMcQueen1, It takes a tremendous effort to produce a bird worthy of exhibition. These are just thrown together in an area and left for nature to take it's course. All the genes are mixed around with everyone. In a breeding program, the point is to cull any birds with imperfections, thus eliminating that undesirable gene from the available pool. No hatchery chicken will ever do well in a show. The odds would be inexplicable. I did see in this video, many birds with some very good traits, but those same birds would be disqualified for having some of the bad traits too.

We are a production style hatchery but slowly over the years we have moved more towards the standard but still trying to keep the production characteristics in the birds. Some of our pens are are set up strictly to meet standard and those are offered as exhibition birds we list some of them on our website. We do cull out a large quantity of our birds due to imperfections that do not meet the standard but in the end we have to use what we have and sometimes that might mean leaving a rooster in that has one more point on his comb than we would like. Over the past years we have tried to move more towards the standard than other hatcheries. We have had a lot of people take our birds to show and so quite well actually and not just county fairs. If we were to truly come down to it show birds are different. Breeders in some cases have worked for generations to perfect there birds and we cant ever meet up to these but we also infuse quality blood stock in our program birds to help breed the bad genes out and bring in fresh blood to the line.
