- We discovered many interesting and rare classic cars at Oulton Park's CSCC (Classic Sports Car Club) meeting at the end of September 2023, both on track and parked around this Cheshire circuit's infield parking area.
Highlights in this one include example(s) of Reliant Sabre 6 (see thumbnail), Alfa Romeo Junior (Zagato bodied), Sunbeam Tiger, Triumph TR4, TVR, Datsun 240Z, and a variety of Austin-Healey Sprites and MG Midgets, some special-bodied, others as they left the factory. A pair of Jaguar E-Types made excellent straight-six noises also. Several interesting classic cars were spotted in the public areas, including a great Renault 8 Gordini.
Racing series in attendance on the day:
Advantage Motorsport Future Classics
Adams & Page Swinging Sixties
Mintex Classic K
Liquid Moly Slicks/Verum Builders Open Series
The Morgan Challenge
WOSP New Millenium

There is a certain class of individuals of all ages and walks of life who appreciate fine motorcars. from the early 1920s on. I have a particular affinity for British cars from 1930 to 1970 . in particular the fine coachwork. it is truly sad about their demise. the use of tractor motors in basic suspensions designing the cockpits after airplanes , small low to the ground with surprising responsive steering. the rough ride. the loud noise of the throttle. smell of exaust and gas is the raw exhilaration of fun.
Great to see cars used and pushed as they should be. I covered the HSCC Cadwell meeting this year, and must do more classic race meetings in 2024. Great meetings, much more interesting than the contemporary stuff for me. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for giving it a watch!
Excellent video.... thoroughly enjoyed that 👍🏻👌🏻👏🏻
Great day of racing and Classic cars what more do you need!! Cheers Bob
Definitely, it's a shame that these kind of vids aren't as popular as those about road cars
Trying hard to assimilate everything pictured and described in this awesome video. Well done for covering all the angles. Phenomenal hearing the turbocharged motors rounding the first bend. That Volvo was scary with the bodywork off 😂👍👏👌
Nice vintage racing cars and no Nascar engine cheaters cars. Love those Healeys and Triumph TR, Great Video of Oulton Park the first time I saw that race circuit. Cheers!
Thanks, glad it was of interest, I've a few videos of Oulton Park on here now
There's always a risk of the consequences of pushing too hard or simply wrong place at the wrong time ! Hope that Alfa didn't tap those headlamps ! Thanks Richard . Suddenly remembered Gordon Murray runs 1 and there's another local to where l live in Teignmouth .
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Great video chaps, awesome classic race car's, the sunbeam tiger TGR 64 is a proper reg it as been developed over many years and as raced in the states, the specialist is local to me and I've seen the vehicle many times and on track, so much knowledge there if you have a sunbeam, hard to choose a favourite car from this vid, keep up the good work 👍
Thanks!
Nice one RJ. One of the best cars I ever owned was a BMW 2002Ti round rear lights the same orange as the in the video, I loved it. It is cool toe see them being put through their paces. The Zagato looks a cool machine. I find it impressive that owners take time to talk with you about their cars, hats off to them.
Cheers, yes it was interesting to hear more about that near-unique Alfa
I've some old super 8 cini film footage circa 1973 given to me years ago, which needs to be transferred to DVD. Showing MK1 Cortinas, Hillman Imps, Austin A35s, Morris Minors. Austin A40s To name a few, racing around a race circuit.
Sounds interesting!
I think you are correct, it is great to see these older cars being used and prepared as good if not better in some cases than show cars and certainly better than in their day. Another side of motor sport where this happen a lot is classic motor bike trials, bikes such as BSA Bantums which a few years ago rusted in sheds are now prepared to such a high standard that they look like they should be hung on a wall not climbing muddy hills . The only trouble with using them they can get damaged !
If the mounted wheels on the roll bars they could overturn yet remain in the race.
Then there was the Moon Beam Molehill.
Great video. That Volvo looked so amazing I had to find out about it. What a totally awesome racecar. Just amazing.
The legendary car designer and engineer Professor Gordon Murray has a Zagato Alfa Romeo. It was modified by Alfaholics to accomodate his six foot four height and is painted in that classic Lamborghini Miura lime green which actually suits it!
Apparently, there is a remarkable amount of disposable incom in the UK.
Maybe, or perhaps people just spend on their race car and save on everything else?!
Did anyone ever produce a Moon Beam. It would be lighter than a Sun Beam. A Moon Beam Pussycat perhaps.
So whats happening after 2:59? Looks like bits falling off the car.
A triple Weber! I used to have a Cortina Mk1 GT and was so impressed with the twin Webber set up so I can imagine the difference an extra one would make. In fact, I think if I knew about triples back then, about 35 years ago, I would have got one and try to adapt it to my old car.
Favourites: #1 23:07 Alfa Romeo Junior Zagato (che macchina!), #2 55:21 Renault 8 Gordini and #3 10:50 Datsun 240Z Super Samuri. 😁👍
Would it be possible to put noise proofing in a stock standard 53 prefect or to much wight (that stuff you stick to the floor fire wall ect)
I don't imagine that sound deadening would be particularly heavy, not enough to make any difference to the speed of a Prefect anyway
