I've seen this happen to so many people. Not skateboarders, but people who dedicate their lives to a company, only to have the company treat them like a number when their ends come. They say "oh, you're part of our family, we appreciate you so much!" Then they push grandma off a cliff and get a new person to lie to for the next 30 years. The company is not your friend, and never will be.
I agree, but I also think if you start your own company, eventually you resort to those kind of techniques. I guess it's capitalism man, you can't feed your family off friendship.

modern blind are absolute scumbags, they got Yuto to sign a contract in english when they knew he didn't understand it. Shane helped Yuto get out of that contract so he could join April. Now we learn they cut Creager like it was nothing when he is the most iconic pros they've had since the Video Days/Tim and Henry's era.
Pro skaters should have retirement plans payed by their sponsors. Skateboarding is a high impact sport were pros risk their body's integrity and health. Props to Ronnie, one of the 1rsts 100% consistent skaters I've seen in the scene since I was a teenager.
With wat money g. And who qualifys. I agree in principle. But then u would see guys get cut right before the deadline. Then careers end quicker for the legends. If ur getting paid passed 33/35 yrs old. U r getting helped out. Sorry but then is the breaks

Ur right but is that car paid off in full. Big difference. Plus the ceo gets everyone paid on time. The common misconception is that the owners r rich. Most r rich before the company/side project starts. Now equating car leases don’t prove much. Please address the time min and cut off. Plus many skaters move on from their childhood passions and want to do other things too.

I can't think of Blind without thinking of Ronnie Creager. That company owes him a lot for being the face of it for so many years.
The way this guy was treated leaves a blemish in Blind's legacy. He deserved so much more love and support for repping the brand for so long
Agreed man they owe Ronnie huge he was everything to blind imo half the reason I bought any blind boards was cause of Ronnie.

The difference in the volume between Kelly and Ronnie is too much. I turn it up to hear Ronnie and my ears get blasted by Kelly's laugh.
I can really relate to this episode. Doesn't just apply to skate boarding, but in life in general. I worked in a line of work for 23 yrs. Got injured, and just couldn't meet the expectations any longer. You ask for something else so you can keep on trucking, and your offered either nothing, or something that pays 1/3rd of what you were making. Next thing you know, your out of work, and think to yourself....Now What??? Your middle aged, and all you know is was you have been doing for the past 23 yrs. Its not a good feeling. Honestly, its scary. So I understand how Ronnie feels to some degree.
Every time I hear about some guy shooting up his job, this is what I imagine happened. You never hear the madmans story in the news, only the companies story. You never hear what drove him to do what he did, only that he's a monster. And no, you shouldn't shoot up your workplace, but hurt people, hurt people. Our country is damaged, and corporatism is a big part of that.

Does taking care of you mean offering you a job you can't live on forcing you to quit? So if that's the case it's better for them to just not say nothing at all then isn't it 🤔
from a business perspective you're totally right....and I understand... but when people promise you things and don't hold up there under the bargain???I guess the lesson is get it in writing. But under that condition would you really want to keep working in a place that you needed something in writing like that? Some of these companies are huge they could definitely afford to take care of their employees better. Greed is humanity's worst trait.
Thats why every working man and woman in the world needs to unionize. You don't get treated like that when you have a union standing behind you.

Unfortunately Ronnie's head down, humble persona affected his marketability later in life. Same as Jeremy Wray. Those that know, know how good he was and still is. Tech legend.
And what’s crazy is that those skaters are often the ones that make the most impact. Jeremy and Wray were way ahead of the curb.
Very true. He never had a gimmick either, like "Drunk punk rock guy" or "Hip hop baggy jeans guy" even in this video he has a blank hat and tee. I always thought that was cool about him.

Yeah I remember I had the 🐝 color way in 8th grade. I think they were black, yellow, Grey, and silver. One of my favorite skate shoes of all time.
I always loved Ronnie Creager’s parts. He was so technical and solid at the same time. Never a lay back or foot drag solid landing on the bolts.
Two people that immediately jump out in my head as being done dirty is ronnie creager and jeremy wray. If they filmed a co part and released it on youtube it would break the internet

I remember in like 2002ish all the homies in the neighborhood started buying boards. One of the homies bought that Ronnie Creager Spin master OG blind deck. I had many decks but my favorite graphic was the Flip Tom Penny Cheech and Chong graphic.
I had that Penny Cheech and Chong deck hahahaha I haven't thought of that in forever!!! Damn I'm old hahaha
I used to have the flip cheech Chong sticker, I remember getting it in like 07-08 in junior high at the time and my dad was pissed
The spin master board was my first one. Loved that graphic. Kept it for like 10 years after it broke.

Switch tre triple set when prod literally used the same trick for his dunks video in 2021 on the same size triple set. Switch flip front boardinghand rails. His opener in that part the massive tre down that big 4 or 5 block. Such a sick part! You guys should get him on and see what hes been up to. So sad if he stopped skating he was the decenzo of canada once upon a time,

From what i can gather from this It seems like the combination of Blinds scumbagness and Ronnies inability to confront them and hold them accountable was the main issue

Kelly landed a job with Es. Which is great. He should however refrain from speaking on this matter and be silently grateful for the luck tossed his way. As for Creager, Kelly should push for him to be on the Es team. Hell, they just put Penny back on. Creager is 100x better than Penny. No dig at Penny. Age gets to you. But Creager still has mad skill.

Blind’s dropped the ball with SO many of their riders constantly throughout the years, I’m honestly surprised they’re still around.
They have some great riders but are no where near the level they should be. Blinds used to be so sick.

I feel as though one must create their own brand to survive nowadays. Skateboarding has excelled to another level nobody can wrap their heads around. At the end of the day...business is business. To make money in skateboarding is exceptionally difficult.
When Massi flowed me that second hand shoulin board. That was was awesome. Even though it t second hand it made such a difference for me. I remember city hall first try up the three 50ed the bench kick flipped the six and collected my props from the groms lurken from the steps felt good . Once again thanks Massi.

The first board I got from a skateshop was the Creager golf club back in 2002 -2003 it was one of the best boards I had back then

I’m pissed off hearing that… him being my favorite skater period and how loyal he is to blind and just skateboarding I’m feeling a certain way being on a smaller company from Texas makes me think wtf is gonna happen to me being on a sponsor for 20 years being loyal and not pro. 😔 this isn’t what skateboarding should be honestly and it sucks and it makes you not wanna be sponsored truthfully. Like what had skateboarding given back to guys who given their all to someone who was supposed to be family to them and not asking for much. Never had that much respect for blind tbh, they were one of the companies that seemed to be trying harder to appeal to non skaters... Similar to etnies. But now we are seeing this shit come out and it just makes sense to me.
The graphics definitely took a turn towards goofy, cartoonish type things. But I believe that was more an effort to have Blind try and replicate the huge sales that World had with Flameboy and Wet Willy. Same artist, too.

You can't rely on someone else saying stuff like they will be there for you when the time comes because maybe the guy who said that will be dead, maybe the company won't even exist anymore, life change so fast nowadays. Sucks for Ronnie tho, not only was he a big part of Blind but he was also a big part of skateboarding in general. He should be a team manager or something, he looks like a great guy. Hope he was able to save some money and I also hope eS will revamp his shoe and give him a percentage.

It's too bad, he was THE FRANCHISE for so long, he was the entire brand and carried it through some tough years. You wish they would have been able to do right by him better.
The fact the skate industry can drop someone like dust and give no fair justice to someone like Creager after a 20 fucking year commitment makes me somewhat grateful I didn’t fully pursue a paid career in skateboarding.

Man, that's nonsense. He dedicated over 20 years to that company. They should find him a role somewhere within the organization. Even if he doesn't have the right skills or qualifications, he could start as an intern and learn gradually. It seems like they just didn't want him causing any disruption. It's unfair because he supported that company for so long; they should let him keep earning a living.
