    Looks quiet and refined on the motorway. Ive tested one and got 74mpg on a thirty minute test on mixed roads. Astonishing.

    Just bought 2022 Toyota approved from Toyota dealer. It is quite and a pleasure to drive.

    Just ordered a new one as a second car, willing to wait the 5 months for delivery it was so good. Extended test drive delivered an incredible 67mpg according to the onboard systems. Whilst no hot hatch the hybrid is definitely not slow and can more than keep up in typical driving conditions. Was surprised how relaxed this car can be as a motorway cruiser it eats up the miles. Only downside was the door card material felt cheap and nasty

    11:54 benefit of this car is that even the horses like it because at low speeds it goes into eletric power.😂😁

    Sorry I am not very up to date on all the hybrid car stuff but am I right in saying that as soon as you put the car into drive the e-handbrake releases itself so you don’t actually need to press it?

    Doing nearly 30 over speed bumps does the suspension no good in the long term. I never understand people doing that, I see it most days, especially when I’m slowing down for them and a car behind is tailgating me, trying to make me go faster, which I don’t of course.

      I do the same thing, I’m not going to destroy my car for the benefit of others.

    Does the steering feel like plastic I’ve driven this car with my instructor hated the feeling of the steering wheel and the brake was so sharp too sharp for me (15 plate)

    • @andyguk
      @andyguk  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No complaints from me on the steering wheel, but this is the newer model though

      The brakes were grabby because it’s a “self charging” hybrid. It uses regenerative braking to help charge the electric motor, which means the brakes can feel grabby. I once drove a fiesta which wasn’t a hybrid and it’s brakes were really grabby too which is unusual.

    I'm getting low/mid 80s mpg out of this. A mix of roads. Main roads/country roads, etc. Adapt to the hybrid way, then the mpg will rise. 😉

      Thats excellent. I was looking at Lexus CT200 but I think this engine sounds better, so I might test one of these again. Had a go when they first came out but definitely worth another look.

    Whats this like compared to a VW polo for refinement ect?

    • @andyguk
      @andyguk  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've not driven a recent Polo unfortunately

      Newer polos feel very refined, I’ve never driven a Yaris but I will be soon, I might come back here at a later date and let you know lol.

    Is it a lot better than the previous model?

      @andyguk  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      For me definitely. Much better performance, better cabin, better looks, quieter.

      @@andyguk is the CVT gearbox better too?

    • @andyguk
      @andyguk  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Difficult to say really. I think the CVT box is better suited to this engine with the extra power. I'm not a fan of them really, they're fine around town but not great when you get on the back roads.

    • @jamie1992ful
      @jamie1992ful 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@andyguk it's a e-cvt apparently alot more refined, they are cheaper and more econamical

    • @oddities-whatnot
      @oddities-whatnot 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@jamie1992ful ive tested one of these the other week, I am a fan of Subaru CVT but really like the eCVT and found it was well matched to the engine. It was very nippy, instant pull no matter what speed and extremely economical, got 74.2 mpg on a half hour test. As for the author saying not so good for back roads I found it great for that, twisty roads up to 60mph, great steering feel and handling. Just my opinion of course
