This band, along with Portal, are very misunderstood.. takes quite a few listens, but when it hits, it fukn hits hard! Scary precision, amazingly unrealistic tunes.. Much respect!
SolvingOurKreation I don't know man, they fucking floored me right away. First song I heard by them was Exospacial Psionic Aura, and it got me hooked immediately. The way they transform back and forth between harmony and chaotic beauty.
@@addystontuckerray2054 what makes a piece of art objectively bad? Some people are going to love this and some people won’t, neither are of the wrong opinion. It’s just their taste. I personally love behold the arctopus. Jason Sheline I asked Colin if he would consider collaborating with Ron Jarzonbek. He said Ron is the man and they got to hang out at some of Ron's shows in Austin. So that's a soft "maybe". If Ron was up for it, I'm sure he'd quickly interpret chord and scale fragments, roll right with it, enjoying unusual time signatures and changes.

The problem is people enjoy a good improvisation, this is not a good one you need to be opiniated to be able to appreciate it, hence the comments. If you wrote music after years you would understand everything you put in your songs matters, thats why pop music sounds simple to people, because its delicately crafted to be. I don't hear any composition in this one because the composers just slapped some patterns together then played them one by one. And it takes a experienced person or a nonbiased person to see and analyze lots of things wrong with these songs.
+Hakan Noel Good/bad art is subjective, so is music (even more so), let alone improvised music. However I can hear this music has some sort of structure, but even if it hadn't, it wouldn't matter to me anyway if it had been as awesome as this.
Why bash on them? They have been doing this for years now. They are all fantastic at their instruments. I'm sure they could play any song you threw at them. This is what it is suppose to sound like. You try playing like that on guitar. It's not as easy as it looks the "sloppiness" makes it unique in a way, just like Portal. I mean yeah they arnt a huge band like Animals As Leaders or whatever. It's Avant-Garde jazz/progressive metal. They enjoy doing it, and that's all that matters. Not to please all the ignorant people that comment on here.
Many may find this baffling, but I like this song a lot and it really makes sense to me. Understandably, Behold the Arctopus have a sense of tonality that's alien to most, but having already been long acquainted with more traditional forms of dark and/or dissonant music, I'm seriously moved by what I'm hearing here.
It's alien because it's three guys playing solos attempting to make a song lol. None of them are bad musicians by any means but need to get on the same page vs being super focus on only what they are doing. I've been in many bands in my life but have never seen such a huge disconnect between bandmates.
I get you. I keep being drawn back to this. There are many pieces of music I would call a masterpiece. This isn't one of them, yet I hold it in equal regard because it moves me emotionally at a similar magnitude to masterpieces, just in a completely different direction. It's like comparing Magic to Black Magic. Music is like the positive emotional force, and this dissonant music is like the negative. Not to say it is bad, but it harnesses chaos rather than harmony to drive its power.
This band and Canvas Solaris are two of the most unique bands I've heard. Their music can be hard to listen to at times, but I can appreciate the technicality and originality of their music.

No need to defend this band to all the fucking trolls out there this music and this band are well respected in the metal world. Individually and collectively these musicians are masters of there craft and to do what they do is mindblowing and beyond anything I've ever heard. This is incredible in it's own right. Fuck people are dumb! At least recognize the musicianship going on here! These guys have some great moments in this song! I will say, however, I wouldn't rush out to buy the album.
