      It really is one of the best Pump shotguns I have ever owned. I have had mine for about a year now, and it hasn't failed me yet. It's dirt simple mechanically, and is far easier to take apart and clean than other common Pump shotguns like 500's or 870's, and has a bunch of awesome little features that just make is super user friendly. From the easy to access slide release, to the cross-bolt safety right next to the trigger, to the anti-load button on the pump if you want to empty the chamber without loading a round, to the fact the entire thing dissembles in like 40 seconds into just a few parts -this is a amazing shotgun for for the price. It could easily be worth 800$ in my eyes.

      @@jibb1451 Very glad to hear this. I was torn between this, the 500, and the 870. I saw the reviews on Bass Pro Shop's website were nearly all 5 stars. I ended up going with the 18 inch barrel for better maneuverability in a house. I did not even know about the anti-load button on the pump until I got it home. Very cool little feature.

    I think the Benelli Supernova's are an excellent line of shotguns and definitely worth the price. You bring up some excellent points that apply to more than just shotgun purchasing. A lot of people shop/buy based solely on finding the lowest priced thing available that fits the bill. They end up never being happy with their purchase and either don't use or end up upgrading it often times losing money in the end.

    Great review. To the point and "down to earth." I just bought a Benelli SuperNova Tactical Pump Shotgun and am waiting for delivery, 10 day background check, etc. I can't wait. A couple of things, per what I have read on other sites, this shotgun will shoot anything, e.g., it's chambered for 3.5". I think you forgot to mention two key advantages: 1. Cleaning is simple and moreover, you don't have to do it as frequently as other shotguns (that cap at the end of the magazine tube is the only tool you need for takedown/fieldstripping); and, 2. The forend shell-stop button, which I don't think any other shotgun has. Anyway, outstanding review!

    • @striven82
      @striven82  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks. Some of those points were the things that I forgot to add to the list, and they were coming to mind as I was orating the review. Ultimately, I failed to mention them. I'm sure you will be very pleased with the shotgun! Thanks for watching and commenting.

      @@striven82 Again, great review. Personally, I wasn’t aware of just how good these shotguns are, especially the semiauto M series. It was only after reading reviews like your’s that it became clear to me that this firearm is far superior to many other shotguns touted on the Internet. Sheesh, to imagine I was actually thinking about buying a Remington 870 . . . Holy shit have they fallen. Two bankruptcy proceedings in the last 3-5 years and apparently, they are having quality control issues, including rusting straight out of the box. I am glad I did my due diligence and found out what’s what.

      @@StevenMelikean I'm glad you were able to find the information you were looking for. It can be frustrating to dig for info like that when there is so much bad information that always seems to populate search results. Its hard to go wrong with a Benelli, and the M series are no exception, though they too, like anything have their quirks. The inertia system relies on the momentum of the firearm under recoil. Adding accessories to an inertia shotgun can effectively slow the recoil momentum to a point where it will no longer reliably cycle. I'm sure there are work-around solutions, but it is this particular application of the laws of physics that had me searching out a Beretta 1301 Tactical instead of the lustworthy M2. The M4 is gas operated, and should not be affected by the additional weight.

    • @StevenMelikean
      @StevenMelikean 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@striven82 I can afford those guns, but you put it perfectly about how any pump will likely never fail or at least, not as often as the potential for a semiauto. I am totally fine with new Benelli. Almost forgot, yeah that Beretta 1301 is sweet too!

    Good review of a quality shotgun. You made some great points on buying firearms in general.
    it’s a dream to shoot with 18 inch barrel. You get so much value with the supernova. The recoil is very manageable even my 13 year old son shoots it. And it cycles so much smoother than a 870/590 pump.

      Yes, it can. Install the correct choke and test at 25, 50, 75, and 100 yards to find how your ammo selection drops. I love my SuperNova and enjoy cranking out 50+ shells and feeling just a wee bit sore.

    • @striven82
      @striven82  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Every pump will have some slack in the fore end, it's just the nature of the design. However, the Benelli has far less slack than a comparable mossberg.

      @TheYjmfan 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @striven82
      @striven82  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The other one is an 18.5in smooth bore tactical with rifle sights. It was wearing that one from the factory. I found the vent rib on gunbroker for less than a hundred bucks.

    • @zachb.6606
      @zachb.6606 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@striven82 10-4. How do you like the open sight tactical barrel? I'm thinking of getting one. I own a camo Super Nova and a Nova tactical with the ghost rings. Not a big fan of ghost rings on a defensive shotgun.

    • @striven82
      @striven82  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The rifle sights are appealing because of the ease of swapping out a barrel...just plug and play. The front and rear sights are just black on black, so I added some "tactical" white paint to the front sight to help my eyes pick it up quickly for when a little precision is called for. Overall, I think I actually prefer the ghost ring setup. Downside being needing (wanting) to remove the rear sight if swapping to a vent rib. You still have the ever-present point and shoot ability of the shotgun, with a quicker (IMO) precise shot alignment. If I could do it over, I would have started with the ghost ring version.

      Sling is just a cheap Blackhawk rifle sling. Swivels are either Blackhawk or butler creek. Avail on Amazon or Brownells. A VTAC sling would be a giant step up in quality.
