For those wonder John's rating went from 2724 to 2775 in this tournament! He placed 14th, above Famous f legend, Dominguez, Penguin, Bluebaum, Ben Bok and more First Place Sindarov 2nd Place Carlsen 3rd Place Terry Renato 4th Alireza 5th Hikaru No-one with a lower rating placed higher than John. Great showing from JB!
Hey John, you are so humble and a really Good teacher! I watched your game against GM Rasmus Svane on his german stream (its also in YT) and he was complementing you all the time! („Yeah he is Just so good“ Not even calling you an Underdog 😁 And hell yeah! You outplayed him! Congrats and Well deserved!❤ Greetings from 🇩🇪

That was just great, John! Congrats! (Rasmus Svane, actually Danish roots, therefore I know: The "a" in Svane is like the "flat a" in "flat" or "actually", the "ne" is like in "never", with slight emphasis on first syllable, which is also prolonged a bit. "Svane" in Danish is a swan which is the national bird of Denmark.)
congratulations on your great score John. this is my first time watching any of your videos I was so impressed with your crystal clear and easy to follow analysis during each of your games. Hope to see you soon as a GM. You deserve it!!!
Fantastic showing John, especially given the stiff competition. Fun games to watch, I always enjoy your commentary too. Voice sounds like it’s doing well, glad you’re doing well.
Wow! That was amazing, and thanks so much for condensing that for us! Those games were awesome, and so impressive to keep the quality of that end game play going right through the game. Congratulations, also! It's clear you belong with the big guns!! 😊
All of GM Kramnik's research and allegations and insinuations begin to make sense if you simply realize that by studying the sudden demise in his own playing ability, _these conclusions of Vladimir Kramnik are the telltale signs of a once-great grandmaster who is sadly but slowly losing his own mind and faculties and ability to reason._ 🤔 - j q t -
This was great. TT has always been my favorite videos of yours I have seen them all. Hope you are inspired to do them more often with a great showing! Congrats on the wins
That game against Oparin, I was fist pumping and cheering like it was 2022 and I was watching my Warriors. I could relate so strongly to the feeling of having a higher rated opponent decline to agree to a draw, because they think it's their right to win. Getting the dub in that moment is maybe 2 or 3x magnified compared to a normal game (in my opinion). I think that's one of Fabi's seconds, and if we assume Oparin occasionally beats fabi, beating a dude who occasionally beats one of the best in the world is pretty special. Believe you've beaten fabi before, back when he was human in rapid and blitz time controls, but still. Keep up the good work
Literally the only channel on TH-cam where I consistently will watch hour plus videos... Any reason why the last move isn't highlighted? Had to rewind a couple of times to catch the move
I'm honored by that, seriously! Good call on the lack of move highlights. Somehow that setting got toggled off for me, but I'll fix it for next time. Thanks a lot for watching!
Always enjoy watching you play and comment. Fun to see a gracious chess player! By the way, why did your handle show "John Bartholomew" sometimes and "Fin092" (or whatever) other times? Just curious... Thanks again. And congrats again.
That was fun to watch! I don't have much feedback to give, other than that the webcam covers the last moves, maybe it's better to show the standings instead? Oh and it would be nice to see where you ended in the standings. Cheers.
Wow! Congrats John. That sequence of games, from Kirill to Oparin to Svane were incredible. Well done! Can’t wait to get my hands on the Scandi course.
If I want to learn themes, typical plans, piece placement through a model game which game should i start my study with miniature(15-20 moves) or full length (20 & above).
John played one dude who literally played in a FIDE championship match, and went undefeated (7-3-0) against everyone else. Where did that incredible performance come from, buddy? Awesome!
Hello John 👋 With the current theme of the board, it's really hard to understand last move 😢 especially on mobile screen, have to have really sharp eyes 👀 Hope you will work it out, thanks in advance 🎉
@@dg1431 He said some nonsense things in the twitch chat after the game. Some people can't just accept defeat and have to blame others. Poor sportmanship but whatever...
hello 👋🏻 John brother i have a question can you answer me tell me what is the difference between chess opening and chess fundamental 2. my rating is 1200 elo should I learn and play Sicilian dragon and opening suggest me which opening should I play for black and white 3. my rating stuck in 1200 elo how can I improve my thought process and rating
No streamers explain the internal emotional rollercoaster that chess (especially blitz) brings as well as John does. With less content from him lately, I was noticing my game getting reactive, impatient, and agitated. Oddly, these issues were transferring into real life problem solving :( This video reminded me that that tuning the psychology behind improvement is one of the funnest aspects of life. Great to see John's discipline and honesty translate into a good score this Titled Tuesday.
Interesting angle - thanks for the comment! I do believe the mental aspects of trying to play consistently strong chess are discussed. Glad you identify with my thoughts on those topics. Thanks for watching :)
Wow, I checked the results and 14th place is outstanding John!! What a performance. Being a long time viewer, I honestly felt proud of you. Such a pleasure to spectate as always PS: I'm fasttrax78 on Twitch 😊
g4 indian is my specialty been playing it for years and the games i have lost tend to be because of time but winning on position or blundering because of being short of time. nice to see you playing it.
Hey John, I'm reading the book "chess structures - a grandmaster guide" by Flores Rios. I am working on the hedgehog chapter and really liked your waiting strategy in the game against Timur Gareev. This game made a big impression on me.
If there's an option to highlight the piece that was just moved, it would help us amateurs follow. Often I'd be studying the board, hear the sound of a move, but not see what changed.

Love the titled tuesday runs. Keep up the great work!
John is so chill and he makes it look so simple, great commentary and play

That Gata game felt rough. Those bishops were crazy strong. Beautifully played positional game.
Indeed, he really showed his class there.

Man, you, Eric Rosen, and Gotham are on fire currently. Love to see you posting and on form! Nice work.
Great result John, really enjoyed watching that.
Would absolutely love for you to get matched vs Kramnik in one of these, I bet it would result in something hilarious.

Awesome games especially that Bxg2! BRUTALITY haha!
Thank you! Was happy to have foreseen that shot 😊
Your game against Oparin was sooooooooo Good! Well played!!

Some exciting and entertain wins in this high score! Good to have a vid showcasing it and thanks for the post!

“A wounded animal is the most dangerous”. Great description. I’ve blown more games than I can count when up material or better.
I love how you play the slav defense. You should definitely make a course on that

And a really n i c e ending of the last game to top the session.
Good game against strong GM Rasmus Svane, indeed. Your first pronounciation of "Svane" 1:03:35 was pretty much okay.
That was poetic justice for Oparin declining that draw offer
Ahhh I was watching this live but had to leave!! Congrats on the new high score!!
wow congrats John, what a (TT) comeback!

The elation at the end. Love to see it, it’s how I feel after beating 400’s lol.
Great performance
At 4:10 there was an option to play rxc1 nxc1 and nc3 to fork the queen and b5 pawn
