FAQ - Common mistakes Items don't go past the 1st dropper- Look at the clock and back rows; If the clock isn't turning on & off then the clock is wrong. If the clock is turning on & off but the back rows are off. Then the clock's torch isn't connected to the rows. If the clock is turning on & off, but part of or all of the back rows are just 'on' & never turning off: The back rows can NOT be connected by repeaters & dust. Either or, but not both. 14:18 dust IF the rows are short enough to be powered 14:28 repeaters & NO dust IF the rows are too long to be powered from the torch. Items consecutively skip random chests - 15:46 There can be NO overlapping signals powering the back rows, NO extra repeaters. If using more than 14 chests in horizontal rows, the rows MUST be sliced into individual sections powered by singular repeaters. If you have more than 90 chests, just use 5 stacks in the etho, & add a lever that activates the bottom most piston nearest the front. That lever will turn it on thus flushing the system. MIS sorters are better suited for non-bulk storage. So, rather than having 10 chests for cobblestone, just add a filter! th-cam.com/video/DGuOI5Q-Jks/w-d-xo.htmlsi=mf5QhHsIkJI_H-PB Speed it up by 20% (check the timestamps to skip ahead) th-cam.com/video/una6IdxBHB4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=WluTm96PTdWD8nno That's also the java friendly version If curving around 2+ corners; It does NOT matter the pattern of the hopper/droppers. @@Squaradactyl if it never ever turns off, the the top most piston piston is not activating the bottom back most piston. So either: the top front most piston isnt getting activated by that top most redstone torch. There are no items, or more than 5 stacks of items in the etho clock (hopper pointed into hopper) Or, the bulb comparator observer under that etho clock isnt activating the bottom back most piston. For troubleshooting you can; 1. Make sure there is less than 5 stacks of items in the etho clock's hoppers, but more than like 32. (About 4 items per sorting chest) 2. look at the etho clock and see if the front most piston is activated. If no, it should be powered by the top most torch and dust. If yes, 3. Place in like 10 items to be sorted then go see if that top front most piston turns off, moving the redstone block to the front position. If no, then the front most observer isnt turning off the top most torch. If yes, then the bulb/comparator/observer/solid block, under that block of redstone is not activating the bottom back most piston.

The missing saplings I would guess are inside the droppers & hoppers near the end. Since you have 140 chests, even with 5 stacks in the etho clock it won't flush the entire system automatically. I would love some specification in terms of the chests and seed counts. Since I consider the "storage" chests only those that will store and not move the items. Which makes it 4*30=120 seeds, but if I count the chop chests it'll be 144, with the input chest 148. And they're all part of the storage system.
@@beebsis8761 So sorry! Just 4 per storage double chests, or thereabouts. It's not suuuuper exact though, so I would test it when all is done & see how long it keeps clicking after moving a single item from start to finish.

@@benrappleye6043 Yes I would assume that would be fine. Tbh I just never actually tested it to see & went with a "better safe than sorry" approach lolol But the more I think about it, the more it should just behave like the input droppers. So it should be totally fine!
So I built this into my wool farm and used the simple version of the intake. But for some reason the dropper that faced into the droppers going up to the top of the system on the first chest isn’t kicking things over to start their travel up, I replaced it with a hopper and boom everything works. I built everything as far as I can tell- correctly but it was just curious if you could think of a reason.
@@shadowedone1248 Normally if the 1st dropper isn't activating it's because dust and a repeater are connected to the back rows creating an infinite loop. But if replacing that dropper with a hopper fixed it.... then the dropper next to that was/is recieving power.... There are no other issues? Only things i can think of would be, that 1st dropper wasn't aligned at the same level as the back rows of dust. Maybe 1 block lower or higher. So the dust powering the 1st dropper tower was pointed into the dropper diagonally up or down from that initial one rather than the one directly next to it.
13:40 I am doing the part with the seeds for timing. My storage room is huge and has 320 something chests so I need way more seeds than I can fit in the hopper… I’d need like 21 stacks of seeds to count 4 seeds per chest. Is there a way to work around this since they all can’t fit in one hopper?
@@LoganReber-d9o No there isn't really an easy way. You can add a lever on the wall that will activate the bottom front most piston. Turning that lever on will "flush" the system. I have a question: if I wanted to make a corner next to the first in order to create a square magazine, the hoppers following the first corner I have to place them on the right or left side of the chests
Doesn't actually matter, Just have the connecting (corner) hoppers at the bottom going into a dropper elevator. So just repeat what we did after the 1st corner. The only reason the 1st section is flipped is to make it easier to change where the input is. Functionally, it all is the same. Only important part is to link the connecting hoppers to the dropper lines, not up high. Items do need to go through the droppers before entering the sorting hopper lines. Oh & you don't actually need any redstone on the corners. So can ignore redstone for the connecting hoppers that are down at the bottom. I did that just as a "better safe than sorry" but have since tested it enough to say that it isn't necessary.
Has anyone solved the issue of items completely bypassing some chests and heading straight into the 'overflow'? Usually my top most or my bottom most chests get missed and head straight into the overflow even though there's tons of space

That would help the 5 stacks in the etho go farther. Aside from those. It would be possible to redesign the timer to have a longer timer. (That just ensures the items get realigned with the clocking) Then just connect all the sections to the clock of course, but don't worry about redstone on the connecting hopper rows that don't have sorters in front of them.

For some reason, the first chest on top just does not send items there It just skips it. This is after 7 chests, so on the 8th. Can't figure the problem out. It’s 5 chests high.
@@TheDarkMEXiCaN2020 So just that 1 chest skips? Hmm Double check the dust & torches behind it, maybe one got broken. My guess would be the torch is missing. If not that, the only other thing that could cause just a single chest to skip every time would be signal overlap. Like the back redstone is being powered from multiple repeaters and the signals overlap behind that chest. Could also be that the rows have different delays... but that would break entire rows not just a single chest. If it's definitely not any of that, you can make it slightly more stable & 20% faster by switch all the dust that is on top of glass, with repeaters (no extra delay) pointed into the droppers. Then down on the clock, turn the max delay repeater down 1 tick (so poke it 3 times, so it's 1 away from max)

Just have hoppers down at the bottom connecting the hopper line & next row of droppers (the connecting hoppers don't actually need redstone) Break all the rows behind that spacer, so the only things there is that hopper at the bottom. Then have the glass tower+repeaters for both sections to power all the rows. Then just connect those glass towers with some redstone. The towers can be connected, just not the rows. @@Bigal12345 I am confused about what is happening. So items are building up inside of a hopper & or dropper that is in the middle of the line? Or items are building up at the very end because they have nowhere to go? The very final chests should be empty, to allow for any item that isn't being sorted or that skipped a place to go. If they are building up in the middle, then the redstone right behind there isn't activating.
@@Bigal12345 If items are going in an infinite loop then the droppers/ hoppers/ connecting chests are incorrect. It should be a straight line (zigzags up & down) but a tube from start to end, no loops. If items are not being sorted at all, the clock is most likely not set to a 5 tick delay. Must be 5 ticks, 1 max delay repeater + 1 repeater with no extra delay. 14 double chest (28 blocks) If it is skipping sporadic chests then it's overlapping signals. Every 2 rows (back horizontal rows of dust) must only be connected to the clock by 1 single repeater. No overlapping signals from multiple repeaters. So if there are more than 14 double chests, 1 repeater won't be strong enough to power all the dust. In that case the redstone will need to be split or mesured perfectly so that no dust is being activated by multiple repeaters.
FAQ - Common mistakes
Items don't go past the 1st dropper-
Look at the clock and back rows;
If the clock isn't turning on & off then the clock is wrong.
If the clock is turning on & off but the back rows are off. Then the clock's torch isn't connected to the rows.
If the clock is turning on & off, but part of or all of the back rows are just 'on' & never turning off:
The back rows can NOT be connected by repeaters & dust. Either or, but not both.
14:18 dust IF the rows are short enough to be powered
14:28 repeaters & NO dust IF the rows are too long to be powered from the torch.
Items consecutively skip random chests -
15:46 There can be NO overlapping signals powering the back rows, NO extra repeaters.
So, rather than having 10 chests for cobblestone, just add a filter! th-cam.com/video/DGuOI5Q-Jks/w-d-xo.htmlsi=mf5QhHsIkJI_H-PB

It does NOT matter the pattern of the hopper/droppers. Just do it exactly the same as the 1st corner.

@@Squaradactyl Anytime!! Hope that helped
@@OmLedu definitely! The only problem I have now is that it never turns off 😂
@@Squaradactyl if it never ever turns off, the the top most piston piston is not activating the bottom back most piston.
So either: the top front most piston isnt getting activated by that top most redstone torch.
There are no items, or more than 5 stacks of items in the etho clock (hopper pointed into hopper)
Or, the bulb comparator observer under that etho clock isnt activating the bottom back most piston.
For troubleshooting you can;
1. Make sure there is less than 5 stacks of items in the etho clock's hoppers, but more than like 32. (About 4 items per sorting chest)
2. look at the etho clock and see if the front most piston is activated.
If no, it should be powered by the top most torch and dust.
If yes,

That would most likely be from overlapping signals on the back. Since you have so many chests you'd need to "increase" the signal strength. So, did you just add repeaters, or did you split the redstone lines into separate sections and then add repeaters? Can't have any overlap.

Plus with that many chests the timer would end up being about 25 mins on/off

The only reason the 1st section is flipped is to make it easier to change where the input is. Functionally, it all is the same.

That would help the 5 stacks in the etho go farther.
Aside from those. It would be possible to redesign the timer to have a longer timer. But at that point it might be better just to have the lever to turn it off and on.
So! All in all, I would add a button on the wall that will power that bottom front most piston. Then, if you want to flush the system to retrieve an item, just poke the button.

I built this system 5 chests tall, for some reason the items aren’t stacking in the 4th chest from the top, can’t figure out why. Everything is the same as in the video.
uh oh, let's figure out what the problem iz.
So the chest next to bottom isn't working, but all the others are? Is that for every row or just a single chest?
I would start by double checking that there is a torch & dust behind that general area. (on the redstone rows in the back) dust on the glass & torches on the side.
If it's just a single chest i would guess a dust or torch got broken or is missing.
If it's an entire horizontal row, then that redstone line in the back is most likely off timing, meaning that either some of the repeaters have extra delay, or that there are extra repeaters. Check the repeaters on the glass tower that are powering the rows. make sure none of them have any delay
So I’m struggling as all items are getting stuck in the second to top left chest. Any ideas?
Every slot of every sorting/storage chest must have at least 1 item. Any empty slots will just allow any item to enter it.

Make sure there is dust pointed into the dropper next to that one.
Then if you are using repeaters to power the rows, pinch or move any dust that is connected. The repeaters will end up powering themselves if you have dust connected to like the bottom row, the a repeater after that powering the further or top rows.

You can just add a lever that activates the bottom front most piston to flush the system. Or to just leave it on.
You could also increase the overall speed by 20% by following the video at the bottom of the pinned comment. Basically just adding tons of repeaters.
For future reference when building storage systems. MIS sorters are better suited as a cheap way to sort all the random items like flowers & dye. @@mrjacob3519 Isn't lining up? Not sure what you mean exactly.
Use hoppers on the bottom to send the items from 1 side to the next, into the tower of droppers behind the 1st sorting chests of each row. Think of it like; droppers go up, top chests connect the droppers & hoppers, & the hoppers go down and load items into the chests. So as long as the item stream is unbroken & there is 1 row of hoppers per row of chests it will all be fine.
As for the redstone, the corner bottom hopper line doesn't technically need redstone. So just be sure to split each all into it's own section. & make sure the top most torches are aligned with the 2nd sorting chests from the top not the 1st.

If it is not sorting any item at all but items still travel through the system, then it's most likely that the clock's repeaters got poked. Make sure they are set on a 5 tick delay, 1 max, 1 with no extra delay.
For some reason, the first chest on top just does not send items there It just skips it. This is after 7 chests, so on the 8th. Can't figure the problem out. It’s 5 chests high.
@@TheDarkMEXiCaN2020 So just that 1 chest skips? Hmm
Double check the dust & torches behind it, maybe one got broken.

@@larryvargas9802 if you only have 14 blocks 1 way and 12 the other, you won't need a spacer :] just have the repeaters in the center, 15 dust away from the farthest dust.
But just incase; for the spacer, yes same as corners. Just have hoppers down at the bottom connecting the hopper line & next row of droppers (the connecting hoppers don't actually need redstone)
Break all the rows behind that spacer, so the only things there is that hopper at the bottom.
Then have the glass tower+repeaters for both sections to power all the rows. Then just connect those glass towers with some redstone. The towers can be connected, just not the rows.

If they are building up in the middle, then the redstone right behind there isn't activating.
